Yup! They must know, coz my basses litterally are in my shop. Was kinda taken aback, slighly shocked actually, that one of them would express he'd never thought that about me (as in: that I'd choose a bass rather than a real instrument like a guitar). Not joking either, see. WtF? And this is a guy who is in bands, and knows (should know) what the different instruments do. My only guess is he's used to root note bassists. Else I can hardly imagine what goes on in his head. Anyway, best, bert

I normally side with the copyright holder, the composer, the band etc... and will for example always pay for my music, and will pay a lot extra for an original medicine (at the cost of being looked upon as an idiot even by the seller of the expensive medicine), but I'm not likely to honour a company that goes about it in this way. I've long had this list of basses that I decidedly was gonna own, and a Rickenbacker was always very firmly on the top of it. However, I now own almost all of the other basses on that list, but because of the foul taste have not bought a Rick. Instead, my money has gone to Music Man three more times. Even though I could afford four Ricks, I'll probably rather have a copy that sounds good (if they exist). best, bert

Yup, I recognise that. When my ex said bye, I thought like "at least I have my music". Soon after, I got me a dog and a bass, and today, if something was to strike, I'd be all "at least I have my dog and my bass". Wish you all the best, especially for the nearest weeks and months. Not recognised by me at any rate. I can also think of 4-H, 4-HH, 4-HS, 5-HH, 5-HS, 6-H, 6-HH and 6-HS. Then again, we're all different, aren't we? As to the H vs. HH or HS, the opinions differ on whether the HH and/or HS can simulate the sweet spot sound of the H. There's some stuff about that on the Music Man fora. I wouldn't know. Safe answer of course is that it can't, but I wouldn't just simply dismiss the alternative view held by some experienced Bongo owners. My only point from a personal perspective is that I love the Low Mid and High Mid of the 4-band EQ as the real character shapers, and I thought the H is 3-band. Maybe I'm wrong. Other than that, tone, ergonomics, design, colour choices etc of the Bongo are stellar in my book - except the fugly headstock. I'm currently even finishing a poo scratchplate for a white Bongo. That and a lid of course. best, bert

The OP may well feel having been made a laugh of, and that would not be strange at all. At any rate, I'd ask those who can only see the grain in the OP's pix, to have another look. There is definitely a little knot there - close to the edge. Actually, the third picture shows most of how the structure is. The first two might lead one to assume it's grain only. However, I do not know anything about whether this (type of) knot would have any negative effect. Some patterns make the wood more resilient, whilst others weaken it. best, bert
