As far as I understand (or not) the answers in this thread, 1) the power amp in the OTB provides the load that the preamp needs, also when there's no load on the power amp 2) the DI button is not switching between ground and lift (whatever those might be if they even exist) but is a ground lift switch The manual is very short and really does not volunteer much information, though it does say that the ground lift button is used only when a ground hum appears. In case I wonder about the dash in "Ground/Lift". Can anyone confirm or correct my understanding? best, bert

All I know is they've received favourable reviews, and I once recorded a live show just for the delightful bass sound, and I later found out the bass was a Starplayer. Don't know what fingers the guy used though. best, bert

Hi Steve, Seeing as the head has a treble knob and your bass probably has one as well, I think the last thing you should do right now is opening the cab and putting in an extra port. All that work for what? Getting a little less treble? If you really need to try this: How about just putting some "test foam" in front of the tweeter to try out the sound with and without foam? Edit: Or is it really about the frequency response of the rest of the spectrum? Do these sites state what the difference will be? Personally I have a hard time imagining that the changes would be so essential, as this basically is a very nice cheapish combo. best, bert

To me it seems that respect for variety does not exclude respect for specialisation. Also, it's just about choices. Guy I worked for was a Bach specialist who'd look down on everyone who was not as specialised as him. I found that just as silly as looking down on people who do specialise. In Holland, we had this definition of specialising as "Knowing more and more about less and less until you know everything about nothing". Like that one a lot. best, bert
