Hey Miguel, Welcome to BC! You're the second one living in Portugal (OK, Azores in your case) to come to BC in a short time. I hope you'll have a good time here. best, bert

Not recognised by me at any rate. I can also think of 4-H, 4-HH, 4-HS, 5-HH, 5-HS, 6-H, 6-HH and 6-HS. Then again, we're all different, aren't we? As to the H vs. HH or HS, the opinions differ on whether the HH and/or HS can simulate the sweet spot sound of the H. There's some stuff about that on the Music Man fora. I wouldn't know. Safe answer of course is that it can't, but I wouldn't just simply dismiss the alternative view held by some experienced Bongo owners. My only point from a personal perspective is that I love the Low Mid and High Mid of the 4-band EQ as the real character shapers, and I thought the H is 3-band. Maybe I'm wrong. Other than that, tone, ergonomics, design, colour choices etc of the Bongo are stellar in my book - except the fugly headstock. I'm currently even finishing a poo scratchplate for a white Bongo. That and a lid of course. best, bert
It's a fake Tokai though - the body is a Fender
That's my kinda language. Kudos! Oh, and thanks for the inspiration. I now know exactly what to do should I ever get me a Fender. best, bert

Wow. That's a lovely project, and the headstock looksvery nice and balanced. Well done. If your daughter is not satisfied with her design, is there a way to remove it so she can have another go? best, bert

The OP may well feel having been made a laugh of, and that would not be strange at all. At any rate, I'd ask those who can only see the grain in the OP's pix, to have another look. There is definitely a little knot there - close to the edge. Actually, the third picture shows most of how the structure is. The first two might lead one to assume it's grain only. However, I do not know anything about whether this (type of) knot would have any negative effect. Some patterns make the wood more resilient, whilst others weaken it. best, bert

Hey Grim, Welcome to the low end as well as to BC! Yeah, it's fun, innit. I was a keyboardist for four decades before seeing the dark. Enjoy the disinformation, the disagreement and the diss banter!
Bass is way more fun unless your in a band with a sadistic guitarist!!
Watcha talkin' 'bout? He even put up a vid that still was unbassplayered - only to save you from the shame! You are lucky, lad. In my days ... best, bert

Hey Garey, Good luck with the new job! C-ya later here, then. We'll put a hidden camera on the "Garey" account so we'll know when you're back. best, bert -
Hey Phil, Welcome! Cool how you are already in the process of recording and gigging! You should teach some of us about that. You've come to the right place, so please enjoy. OR ELSE! best, bert

Not a bassist, but still. http://somethingelsereviews.com/2013/03/12/original-yes-guitarist-peter-banks-1947-2013-an-appreciation/ Peter Banks was the original guitarist in Yes, and was himself influenced by Steve Howe, who'd be his successor in Yes. He only became 65 years old.
Never mind the maple , that's a lovely bit of kitchen tiling - that grouting looks like it was done by a professional - and the work surfaces look nice too .
Again you deliver, and again BC proves it's larger than the sum of its [s]components[/s] tiles, and that it can help us with all aspects of life.

. Here's my cheeky one, though it doesn't put the others to shame. Nice bass though, and a steal at 69 quid for a near mint one. best, bert

Too many to mention, and they're all important. Only one name I keep coming back to, and this has lasted for many, many decades: Johann Sebastian Bach. best, bert

Hi Tomek, Welcome to BC! As to your mistakes, you spell "Squier" correctly, so you can't do anything wrong anymore in my book. :-) Nice equipment you have, BTW. Enjoy the site! best, bert

Hi from an old git with teenage pretensions
BassTractor replied to great harry's topic in Introductions
You wouldn't have guessed this, but the Compact is quite compact. :-) The head to go with this could be the Micro Terror. It's quite compact as well. Seriously though, whenever you want some ideas from us, just let us know something about a budget and your wishes about the gear. best, bert -
Hey Gábor, Welcome to the surface! Keep enjoying the site. best, bert
amputee
Chops! I said I couldn't resist ... BTW, Pastorius was one of the main reasons I try to play bass now. Göteborg? Cool, but alas too far for coffee. Let's wave at each other instead, eh? A friend of mine lives in Höganäs, and my car's in Uddevalla with a broken motor, so I've experienced the area. + best, bert

From what I've learnt here on BC, Squier had some old series that were amazing, and these days the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe series are in high regard. The Bronco and Affinity less so. Someone on here wrote along the lines of: Buy CV unseen, and VM after having checked it. Good enough for me, and I bought some unseen CVs. BTW, it's nice to see that someone can actually write "Squier". Be careful with the mantle indeed. Pistorius certainly has the chops, but look how he used them. (I guess it's old, but I couldn't resist.) Yeah, Risingson, and do you gig in Norway as well? best, bert (near Kristiansand in the South)

Hej Svenskan! Välkommen till PrataBass.uk! Hoppas du vill ha det träveligt och roligt här. (Well that's enough of attempt from me aw'rite. I'm sure it's all wrong despite my best effort. From here on: Anglaise!) Welcome to the wonderful world of the bass guitar, and the almost wonderful world of BC. Nice call on the EBS. I'm sure many here would want some of those. I know I do. I notice you already have both an Attitude and a Classic Vibe. Yup! You're a gear head. BC will only feed your addiction, so flee the premises while you still can. Enjoy the site's info, discussion and banter! all thä bäst, bärt

Sorry, mate! What I personally do is Copy the web address while watching the vid on YouTube. Then, when writing the post, I Paste that web address into my post to be, and by hand write the media stuff before and behind the link. I couldn't show you how it looked, because the forum software would immediately try and interpret it as instructions But I'll try again, using extra spaces this time [ m e d i a ] http://www.youtube.c...dsulFAH_i0#t=1s [ / m e d i a ] Yup. That works. Just have no spaces, and it will function. Also read Mr. Foxen's post! best, bert
No idea how you get the video's in.
Just put the link between the expressions "media" and "/media" - both in square brackets, though I seem to have noticed the forum software sometimes does this automatically. best, bert
This stuff will do the trick. Probably got some down your local £ shop if you want it cheaper
Yup, that's the stuff. However, do not buy from the £ shop unless you know what you're doing. Normally, non-slip mats found at £ shops are a lot stiffer and less soft in their material. One can feel the difference easily when one has both to compare. Life expectancy is also lower, as these will more readily tear up. best, bert

Hey Nuno, The link is a generic one. You might be able to edit it. best, bert -
Definitely not start with theory. Theory is best digested when it has become the confirmation of what your ears already know. In your case (no money) I'd second the idea of youtoob lessons. There are lots of threads here pointing out the good ones. In addition to that I'd noobly say it would be good if you could get a free lesson from someone somewhere who should put your hands on the bass in a correct manner so you avoid all kinds of possible strain damage. Me I just asked a guy who lives nearby. Also, I think it's a good idea to refrain from playing on one string only, and rather to strait away try and divide the tones over several strings. Others must chime in on how important damping is at this stage. I wouldn't know, but I've tried to - from the very start. Most important of all in my book, and I do be a certified music teacher if not a bassist yet, is to do everything very slowly. Quality is way more important than quantity, and the brain gets programmed perfectly from you doing everything in a concentrated, slow and precise fashion. The principle is simple: let the brain get used to how things are done - not to how things are not done. In this field, speed is the byproduct that comes almost for free - it is not the way. Enough from me! best, bert
