1.
I've just purchased one of these... il let you all know how I get on with it.
I have one, and I can predict your future: you'll be thinking it would have been nice if it had been a bit smaller, but will be chuffed again when thinking about the price you paid for what's basically a nice bag. It's not me. It's the stars that guide me. best, bert
 2. Impossible! It was the best one on here! best, bert
 3.
I strongly suspect that the character you allude to did not even originate from Europe, actually...
Based on his name, my guess would be Swedish or Finnish father and Swedish, Finnish or South american mother. best, bert
 4. Hey Darren, Welcome from a noob. Yeah, great you could boost the contingent from the North East, as I think all 6,385 of us North Easteners will agree. I'm just North East from you, actually. I'll call you for a pint. Enjoy the site and share some wisdom. best, bert
 5.
Norwegian Wood. Wasn't that a Beatles song? But I don't think they mentioned a fongerboard.
I can't understand why people always go ballistic over simple typing mistakes. Look at your keyboard! These are almost adjacent keys! OF COURSE he meant "funkerboard"! best, bert
 6. I presume we're on different tracks here, coz I still don't exactly get what you are and are not talking about. Right now I get the impression it's about improving the playing quality on a track you do already know. In case, I agree with you on that as well. I realise there are many fine lines here as to what one talks about. Anyway, best, bert
 7. Same here: no guilt and no embarrassment, but I should be able to find some bands that some people wouldn't understand my love for. OK, how about the following three bands: Ekseption, Sex Pistols, Spice Girls (first album), Carpenters. uh ... I'll come in again. best, bert
 8.
How much this used Samick fretless is worth?
That one is a very rare Limited Edition. They go for between 17,000 and 19,000 Euro, normally.
 9.
I have a mm sterling (bit different but..) and a fender jazz,I would say the sterling is 10 times better in every way than the jazz. I think MM are just in a different league, get another stingray,in a different as not to offend the memory of your old one
I have no opinion on that. Just wanted to say you have among the coolest interests I've seen on here. best, bert
 10. +1 on posting pics. It does really help sometimes. I can understand your love for the Ray. I've loved it since it first came to Holland, and I wasn't even a bassplayer. Like others said, get a Ray. But if you had a bridge humbucker only, you might as well opt for a HH or HS, as the bridge hb is at the same place on those. Coincidentally, I received the first StingRay in my life only yesterday, a single humbucker with three pick-up options and a three-band EQ. I'm much impressed with it. What configuration is yours? How sayest thou on changing from what you had? Good luck! bert
 11. . Oh, sh*t! I thought he was already 19! Now I must go back, apologise and edit my posts. best, bert
 12.
The problem with practising in your head , although very worthwhile in certain ways , is that it only improves the parts of your playing that are in your head . To get your basslines out to the general public you need to translate any improvements in your understanding into your hands and onto your bass . Being able to recognise and visualise what you hear being played is a big step , but you have to practise with a bass in your hands to turn it into real improvement in your own playing .
. I notice my language limits are showing, but: If you're only talking about improving one's playing abilities in general, then I'm with you. However, I get the idea that you're also saying that one can not (almost) totally prepare a certain song or piece for a gig or concert without having played it. In case, I disagree. Or: in fact, it's wrong. When one reaches an adequate level of mastering the instrument and the visualisation, this is not a problem, provided the visualisation doesn't stop in the vision department, but also incorporates "visualising" the necessary movements and tensions: as in programming the brain with the signals it will have to send to the muscles later (yes, my English isn't adequate here - I hope you still understand). Exactly this was my preferred concert preparation: always saving time by preparing one of the pieces without playing it, only reading it on the commuter train, thinking about it and making notes - - with the exception of the last few days before the concert, which were used for ironing out some mistakes and quirks. A process like this would normally take three months or so, but I was a slow one, and could easily use five to six months on a concert programme. best, bert
 13.
please put some clothes on.
HAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHahahahaha! Gotcha! That's my novelty t-shirt! I knew you'd fall for it! Hehehehe. Haven't had as much fun for ... er ... hours!
 14. Same boring answer: Nope! Still love all the music from childhood and youth. If hard pressed, I may remember that my fave Ekseption tracks back then, now often are both cheesy and tacky in my ears. Still love old Ekseption though, and Focus, Supersister, King Crimson, The Beatles, Yes, Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, Zappa, etc. etc. best, bert
 15. Hello Ieuan, Welcome to BC! There's loads of searchable info on here, and people are eagerly waiting for your questions. Newcastle, eh? Would that be Newcastle, New England, or Newcastle, Old England? Upon Tyne or under-Lyme? Not that it matters, mind, and I'm not interested, but it's nice to know whether you actually know where you are. Me, I'd never heard of 1/4 double basses. Apart from the unapplicable math (it has to be 17" scale in my warped, mathy world), it sounds like a kid's first db. Is that correct? You're maybe thinking of investing in something larger, I guess? In case: people here will be honoured to light your path. Enjoy the site, its info and its banter!
I always get funny looks.
How would you know? It's a text based site!?!?!? . . . Oooooooooh! That's what these avatars are all about! There's hidden cameras in them! best, bert

 17. Despite all the sensible points made by others, I'm firmly in the Stilton-esque camp, and have reacted negatively to Zawinul's synth sounds from the first time of hearing them back then, so for me it can not even be a case of "dated". Other sounds from the era sound good even today, imho. best, bert
 18. Yeah, why not try to sell when you wanna sell, like for example stating it's the best bass on here. That should get people into action! Seriously though, isn't this regulating itself? As in that lazy sellers don't get the sell? Me, I'd never even respond to a lazy ad - thinking that that person probably is not who I'd want to deal with anyway. best, bert
 19.
Bottom end brother !!!
Language! Be nice, Steve! He's from Florida. best, bert
 20.
need to find a bag big enough to store it
Several are mentioned, maybe in this thread, one of them being: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_effect_pedal_bag.htm best, bert
 21.
Agreed, I've been ganged up on by the BC massive before and it's very unpleasant - I notice a few of the same names are involved here. Some people just like to put the boot in and they feel stronger with their gang in support. Very easy on line, but I wonder how tough these people are face to face, one on one. It's all a bit 'Lord Of The Flies' and quite unnecessary.
. I resent those remarks! You did drive too fast, and I never got to see the scenery that I came for. Chill out or I'll fetch my gang from South Wales! Clown! Whore! Taxi Driver! Seriously though, without knowing a thing about what you refer to, in general, I'm sure that these things are painful, wouldn't want to be subjected to it myself, and I'm sorry you had such an experience. It may very well be that we do have to reconsider our actions in situations like this. However, by large I don't see people with doubtable courage, or gang supported attacks. By large, mind. I mainly see individuals getting provoked into action, and agreeing with one another. The pattern I seem to see, and I recognise that in myself, is that people start out friendly and polite and stay constructive until they're provoked enough, and something snaps. It's at that point I'm sure we need to show more restraint - not allowing that snap to get the better of us. OTOH, IMHO, restraint may never be allowed to become a free ticket for the Intis of this world to demand respect without showing any, to harrass and attack when people disagree or in other ways don't provide what the Intis crave. Sometimes it's just too late to simply stay away. best, bert
 22.
It's a shame he felt the need to do that
I agree. I feel sorry for him, coz I kinda get where he's coming from, and what material he's built of. Sadly, it does rather confirm what people here have been telling him about him. best, bert

 24. That looked like a great post, but I maintain that MacNacho is not food but mere filler. Sorry for my arrogance - I know I'm not the best cook in the world. best, bert
 25. ^^ That was extremely accurate and scientific, ET, and I concur. Having been around musicians all my life, the clarinet must be one of very few instruments I can't get along with. My best friend is a pro player, and my daughter had one for years, but I never could get myself to practise the thing seriously - which is rather special for me. best, bert
