1.
Sorry if I've done it wrong! My brain wasn't running at full capacity yesterday
I think you did it right. Twas just the wording that put me out of balance. That or the booze. BTW, my brain is never running at full capacity, so I couldn't even notice about yours. (BTW[sup]2[/sup], you'd better be grateful my brain isn't running at full capacity. You clowns and amateurs would get some serious lashing) best, bert
2.
It was top class, if you'd like a high quality recording of the gig, pm me with an email. There are a lot of clips on youtube as well.
Wow! Thanks! Yes, I'd love to hear that. PM on its way. best, bert
3. Yeah, unless there's evidence to the contrary, I think it's safest to assume it's the very same speaker with a cone paint job. Incidentally, that paint job might even make the cone a little stiffer in addition to a little heavier, and I can imagine how that could change the sound somewhat. That said, at this price point, I think it would be reasonable to expect every unit to soundslightly different due to high component tolerances. Anyway, are you in fact saying that Gear4Music couldn't provide a replacement speaker? Me, I'd put in a Beta Three or Ibanez speaker without thinking thrice. best, bert
4.
In Rainbows by Radiohead. To me Colin Greenwood's a great bassist who fits in perfectly and holds it together with sometimes only relatively simple lines whilst still being expressive and just sounding good. And for rockier moments Waiting For The Punchline by Extreme. Great sound.
Ben, are you sure this sums up how you play? To me it sounds like you answered the question: Two albums that you think have great bass playing. I often am wrong though, and understand that. best, bert
5. Hi Michael, I had high hopes for you. Then you wrote '68 Triumph instead of '56 Matchless. Go away! Welcome to BC. You seem as crazy as the rest of us, and have some nice gear to boot. All you need now is some ultra modern stuff so you feel like a balanced person. No fears! Your wife will support this. Anyway, share some info, and enjoy the banter. best, bert
6.
That was actually the first choice! But, as Discreet points out it's been picked
OK, so that only leaves Radial Sulcus. Good luck! best, bert
7. Not keen, me. I feel "Spinal" draws too strongly towards Spinal Tap, leaving "Groove" weakened. The covered artists you mention were present in the age of the Spiral Groove though, so maybe change the name to that? Radial Sulcus! best, bert
8.
Oh yes, I'll come crawling back - like I always do.
Oh, no you won't! Not after I've phoned you and told you what you just wrote! Ha! Best you can hope for now is if you say you can still be just cousins. worst, bert
9. Ayup, Captain! Welcome in our midst. I'm happy you're not in prison. Whilst we have been welcoming to jailbirds before, I would be concerned about the basses' health in that tiny, humid room. You have a very smart wife indeed - making you get used to receive all your basses from a loved one. Moment she sees one she doesn't recognise, she knows you're being unfaithful. Genious even, I'd say. Enough with the nonsense. I hope you partake in and enjoy the banter. best, bert
10. Hi Steve, Welcome! You're yet another one from South Wales. There's heaps and heaps there. That's OK of course, but don't you lowender lot realise that Cornwall and Devon and the rest actually exist, and are even lower? Hm, maybe for low Bs only. Anyway, enjoy the banter, and teach us noobs some! Hwyl, Bert
11. I got to 1. Anyone better? Ha! Didn't think so! I won! BTW, I've done 2 and 3 a lot outside of this competition, but am aware that that doesn't count. best, bert
12.
What's the best crate for metal?
The BT215E or BE410H, I guess.
13. Hi Akak, Welcome! Yup! The right place. Both for learning (do searches and ask away) and for bantering. Dunno about Mars attacks, but to me your name sounds like an eskimo/Inuit word, and thus much fitting to your avatar. Anyway, enjoy the bass and the chat! best, bert
14. Cool story. Congrats! best, bert
15.
thanks Bert
You're welcome, buddy. Wouldn't wanna forget you, now would I?
16.
I'm more into capitals.
I said I liked you already. b, b
17. Can you walk on your bass? I'd assume so. In case, there's tons of stuff out there that wouldn't be hard at all. best, bert
18.
Mine too. Should I remove it..?
Problem is just that it's fake. I did the math, and we should've seen the Higgs boson by now. Fake, illogical stuff like that tends to mess with our heads, see. best, bert
19. Hey Marco, Welcome to BC, or at least the visible part of it. Your plan sounds great, roughly, but is sadly lacking the 6" and 8" cabs that would put the dot on the "i". I like you already. Then again, Switzerland and Norway do have a lot in common. However, soon, some Loon on here will tell you that Switzerland and Scotland have a lot in common as well, but you just disregard that (sorry - inside joke). Anyway, enjoy it here, and don't be a stranger! best, bert
20. . Nice, Mark! I know what you're saying, but this works very well for a listener who'se not after reviewing sternly. Great tone! But tell me, did you sell this bass, or forget to mention it, or my eyes are deceiving me, or you're already hiding your basses from the eyes of your peers on here or what? That, and is it a Sterling? Couldn't quite make it out. best, bert
21. So, what darndest things have you heard kids say about basses, rigs, gigs, bassists, or music and musicians in general? I'll open with: Kasper (3): "Dad, you have so many CDs as only an egoist can have." Martine (4): "Dad, these rockers ... their heads are so filled with rock that there's no place left for intelligence. Now, I like rock too, but at least I have space left for intelligence."
22.
she does start sentances with "when I'm in a band....."
Luvverly. Also, there's a fantastic thread right there. I'll start one, or dig out an old one. best, bert
23.
which is bigger Pharnacia serratipes or Phobaeticus chain?
Well, a P. chain is longer of course, but you should know that, them being 34" scale each 'n' all. Weird question. b b
24. Sadly, I have only one, but it does sum up my playing adequately: "The Hissing of Summer Lawns", not the most famous one, but the one by The Royal Society for the Preservation of Public Greens and Parks
25. Hey Mark, Welcome! Nice intro you wrote, so I gather you didn't drop out of school when you first started playing the bass. I was quite a funny coincidence that you, like me, would be a classical musician as well as found underwater. In my case the latter is due to my kayaking though. Anyway, enjoy the site, and explain the bug in my bass please. best, bert
