2. Same boring answer: Nope! Still love all the music from childhood and youth. If hard pressed, I may remember that my fave Ekseption tracks back then, now often are both cheesy and tacky in my ears. Still love old Ekseption though, and Focus, Supersister, King Crimson, The Beatles, Yes, Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, Zappa, etc. etc. best, bert
 3. Hello Ieuan, Welcome to BC! There's loads of searchable info on here, and people are eagerly waiting for your questions. Newcastle, eh? Would that be Newcastle, New England, or Newcastle, Old England? Upon Tyne or under-Lyme? Not that it matters, mind, and I'm not interested, but it's nice to know whether you actually know where you are. Me, I'd never heard of 1/4 double basses. Apart from the unapplicable math (it has to be 17" scale in my warped, mathy world), it sounds like a kid's first db. Is that correct? You're maybe thinking of investing in something larger, I guess? In case: people here will be honoured to light your path. Enjoy the site, its info and its banter!
I always get funny looks.
How would you know? It's a text based site!?!?!? . . . Oooooooooh! That's what these avatars are all about! There's hidden cameras in them! best, bert

You, dear sir, should learn to spell. The Tumbatu Shipping Cumpany is your own workplace, fer cryin' out loud. best, Mr. M. Giveawey
 5. Despite all the sensible points made by others, I'm firmly in the Stilton-esque camp, and have reacted negatively to Zawinul's synth sounds from the first time of hearing them back then, so for me it can not even be a case of "dated". Other sounds from the era sound good even today, imho. best, bert
 6. Yeah, why not try to sell when you wanna sell, like for example stating it's the best bass on here. That should get people into action! Seriously though, isn't this regulating itself? As in that lazy sellers don't get the sell? Me, I'd never even respond to a lazy ad - thinking that that person probably is not who I'd want to deal with anyway. best, bert
 7.
Bottom end brother !!!
Language! Be nice, Steve! He's from Florida. best, bert
 8.
need to find a bag big enough to store it
Several are mentioned, maybe in this thread, one of them being: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_effect_pedal_bag.htm best, bert
 9.
Agreed, I've been ganged up on by the BC massive before and it's very unpleasant - I notice a few of the same names are involved here. Some people just like to put the boot in and they feel stronger with their gang in support. Very easy on line, but I wonder how tough these people are face to face, one on one. It's all a bit 'Lord Of The Flies' and quite unnecessary.
. I resent those remarks! You did drive too fast, and I never got to see the scenery that I came for. Chill out or I'll fetch my gang from South Wales! Clown! Whore! Taxi Driver! Seriously though, without knowing a thing about what you refer to, in general, I'm sure that these things are painful, wouldn't want to be subjected to it myself, and I'm sorry you had such an experience. It may very well be that we do have to reconsider our actions in situations like this. However, by large I don't see people with doubtable courage, or gang supported attacks. By large, mind. I mainly see individuals getting provoked into action, and agreeing with one another. The pattern I seem to see, and I recognise that in myself, is that people start out friendly and polite and stay constructive until they're provoked enough, and something snaps. It's at that point I'm sure we need to show more restraint - not allowing that snap to get the better of us. OTOH, IMHO, restraint may never be allowed to become a free ticket for the Intis of this world to demand respect without showing any, to harrass and attack when people disagree or in other ways don't provide what the Intis crave. Sometimes it's just too late to simply stay away. best, bert
 10.
It's a shame he felt the need to do that
I agree. I feel sorry for him, coz I kinda get where he's coming from, and what material he's built of. Sadly, it does rather confirm what people here have been telling him about him. best, bert

 12. That looked like a great post, but I maintain that MacNacho is not food but mere filler. Sorry for my arrogance - I know I'm not the best cook in the world. best, bert
 13. ^^ That was extremely accurate and scientific, ET, and I concur. Having been around musicians all my life, the clarinet must be one of very few instruments I can't get along with. My best friend is a pro player, and my daughter had one for years, but I never could get myself to practise the thing seriously - which is rather special for me. best, bert
 14.
Sorry if I've done it wrong! My brain wasn't running at full capacity yesterday
I think you did it right. Twas just the wording that put me out of balance. That or the booze. BTW, my brain is never running at full capacity, so I couldn't even notice about yours. (BTW[sup]2[/sup], you'd better be grateful my brain isn't running at full capacity. You clowns and amateurs would get some serious lashing) best, bert
 15.
It was top class, if you'd like a high quality recording of the gig, pm me with an email. There are a lot of clips on youtube as well.
Wow! Thanks! Yes, I'd love to hear that. PM on its way. best, bert
 16. Yeah, unless there's evidence to the contrary, I think it's safest to assume it's the very same speaker with a cone paint job. Incidentally, that paint job might even make the cone a little stiffer in addition to a little heavier, and I can imagine how that could change the sound somewhat. That said, at this price point, I think it would be reasonable to expect every unit to soundslightly different due to high component tolerances. Anyway, are you in fact saying that Gear4Music couldn't provide a replacement speaker? Me, I'd put in a Beta Three or Ibanez speaker without thinking thrice. best, bert
 17.
In Rainbows by Radiohead. To me Colin Greenwood's a great bassist who fits in perfectly and holds it together with sometimes only relatively simple lines whilst still being expressive and just sounding good. And for rockier moments Waiting For The Punchline by Extreme. Great sound.
Ben, are you sure this sums up how you play? To me it sounds like you answered the question: Two albums that you think have great bass playing. I often am wrong though, and understand that. best, bert
 18. Hi Michael, I had high hopes for you. Then you wrote '68 Triumph instead of '56 Matchless. Go away! Welcome to BC. You seem as crazy as the rest of us, and have some nice gear to boot. All you need now is some ultra modern stuff so you feel like a balanced person. No fears! Your wife will support this. Anyway, share some info, and enjoy the banter. best, bert
 19.
That was actually the first choice! But, as Discreet points out it's been picked
OK, so that only leaves Radial Sulcus. Good luck! best, bert
 20. Not keen, me. I feel "Spinal" draws too strongly towards Spinal Tap, leaving "Groove" weakened. The covered artists you mention were present in the age of the Spiral Groove though, so maybe change the name to that? Radial Sulcus! best, bert
 21.
Oh yes, I'll come crawling back - like I always do.
Oh, no you won't! Not after I've phoned you and told you what you just wrote! Ha! Best you can hope for now is if you say you can still be just cousins. worst, bert
 22. Ayup, Captain! Welcome in our midst. I'm happy you're not in prison. Whilst we have been welcoming to jailbirds before, I would be concerned about the basses' health in that tiny, humid room. You have a very smart wife indeed - making you get used to receive all your basses from a loved one. Moment she sees one she doesn't recognise, she knows you're being unfaithful. Genious even, I'd say. Enough with the nonsense. I hope you partake in and enjoy the banter. best, bert
 23. Hi Steve, Welcome! You're yet another one from South Wales. There's heaps and heaps there. That's OK of course, but don't you lowender lot realise that Cornwall and Devon and the rest actually exist, and are even lower? Hm, maybe for low Bs only. Anyway, enjoy the banter, and teach us noobs some! Hwyl, Bert
 24. I got to 1. Anyone better? Ha! Didn't think so! I won! BTW, I've done 2 and 3 a lot outside of this competition, but am aware that that doesn't count. best, bert
 25.
What's the best crate for metal?
The BT215E or BE410H, I guess.
