1. Hey Ben, Welcome! You're extremely welcome, I'm sure, even though you like whiskey. Protestant or catholic? The whiskey, I mean. Enjoy the site! best, bert
2. Hey Andy, Welcome to BC! We can only excuse your poor English when you start writing poor English. Only logical, right? Though we're not very friendly towards metal basses, due to their tuning peculiarities. Stick to wood, Plexiglass and concrete, my advice would be. But enough with the nonsense: Enjoy the site, and enjoy the talk! best, bert
3. Welcome, Dean, but you make it very hard for us, seeing as you've been playing stringed breasts for more than 20 years. On a completely different note: as to bra jokes, you're in the clear. We don't like bras that much. That, and DD really means Dargie Delight, as the Music Man site will confirm. Mingle with the locals, have a little chat, and enjoy! beast, beart ... er ... bert
4. Hey Wayside, Welcome to hither. There's also ready made templates on eBay, from a seller called rockandroll-teez. Enjoy the site! best, bert
5.
where do I get help
Evidently and logically, that would be in Off Topic. I don't know whether to wish you good luck or not. Empty bank account makes one more grateful for the basses one has, yes? Of course it also depends on how many misses you've actually got. There are some break even points somewhere - I feel sure of it. They'll break you for sure. best, bert
6. Hey Josh, Welcome! Josh is just your English name, right? Or does it exist in Italy too? Anyway, I hope you enjoy the groove on this site. It's a good groove indeed. best, bert (Umberto for you)
7. Hey Coach, Welcome! Wow, what an introduction. I've always wanted to be coach at the Central Bureau for Gynaecology myself, but I guess it's nice enough to know one. As to getting a complete rig, the For Sale forum sports extremely low prices these days, so you're in for a steal or steals. As to the Sabre, it may be a relief to learn that Music Man have become a brand for losers like MusicMan20, Brensabre79, stingrayPete1977 and BassTractor, so there's little reason to hunt for the new Sabre Classic or even the tantalising Armada bass or the Game Changer with control app. Effing losers. Enjoy the site! best, bert
8. Hey Septic, Welcome! As said, there's heaps of bassists in SE Wales. Dunno what's wrong with these people, but there it is. As to the bassist/singer combi, there is a whole thread in General Discussion where people have written about their experiences. You could look that one up. Skinny: "hard!"
3.) my bass teacher told me to.
As good a reason as any. Mind you: cabs are dead cheap on the For Sale forum right now. Grab A Cab While Stocks Last!E Enjoy! best, bert
9. Hey Mikee, Welcome! It already looks as if you can thrive with being here. Good. My advice would be to read on this vast site, and ask about everything that is unclear. Me, in just a largelong year, I've learned so much here that I now know thousand times as much as I started out with. Ssadly started with zero though. ;^) Enjoy! best, bert
10. Hey Littlethoughts, Welcome to a good place for fulfilling that. You'll find prices are terribly low right now, so keep your wallet ready. In addition, and as I keep hammering on, rolled oats and milk are the solution to every money problem, so you have no excuses. Enjoy! best, bert
11.
.
I like your perspective (or should that be Perspex?) best, bert
12. Sorry if this has been posted as expected, but I couldn't find it. Warwick's page for the LWA 1000 dual channel amp: http://www.warwick.d...ID=48496&&cl=EN best, bert
13.
Pimp.
14.
how I am going to get another two double basses into the house without 'her indoors' noticing
Simply make the basses invisible! That's done by objects being held in front of them as it were, between her eyes and the basses. A good example of such objects could be a 50 point diamond ring or maybe two plane tickets to the destination of her dreams. See, it's really not that complicated once you put your mind to it. BTW, where's your intro thread? best, bert
15. Got excited by this thread, but was disappointed by the music. Sadly, this is just strolling. What's so cool about minor thirds up and minor thirds down? Couldn't make it through the whole song even, which is rare for me. I hope the other stuff has more bite to it. best, bert
16.
makes me think I should add my Kay strat to my list.
Demm you boy! If you do that, I'm gonna add my Peavey Tracer II, so be forewarned.
17. Hey Les, Welcome to the show that never ends. Your intro was nothing but a great read, so keep up the good work, please. We'll try and pay you back with well thought out an well written papers on numbers of subjects Enjoy the banter! best, bert
18. Hey Rob, Welcome to the surface! Don't be a stranger now. Also, thanks for buying a U-Bass. You U-Bass guys make that I can get nice strings for the Ashbory. Enjoy bantering! best, bert
19. PM'ed for the pics then. best, bert
20.
Does that rig sound any good with a bass?
Me, I lurv it with that Squier CV P at least. Haven't tried another bass yet. I dig the following: Playing almost to the right of the bridge, bass volume on full, bass tone somewhere in the middle or so, amp gain on full, amp tone I don't remember and amp volume as applicable. Definitely in Rickenbacker territory, and The Stranglers wouldn't throw me out either. Well, they would, but for different reasons. I dig it big time, and don't miss the low frequencies for one second. The overtones do their work as they should. BTW, the bizarro photo was for a competition that I'm sure to not win, but it was fun to do. Very quickly, mind. best, bert
21.
I think 40 was the recommended.

yes, 40 with original tubes, 20 if you replace the tubes with lower gain jobbies.
Thanks, guys! best, bert
22. Badass, I don't get what you're after. I use two 112s. So do I answer 1*12 or 2*12 ? I also use two 108s, which is not one of the answering alternatives. I also use combos. Are they to be counted in this poll? I have ordered a 112 plus 115 as my main rig. Is that what you call a "combination"? Then what do I answer? "Combination" only? best, bert
23. Ash, am I detecting an E-bow on one of the pics? If so, what sayest thou 'bout it? I've read earlier that people modify them to better fit the bass, and/or tap the strings to start them moving. best, bert
24.
It doesn't suck other than that it is too loud - but you can fix that with a £5 XLR attenuator!
Cool! Would 10dB do? 20? Thanks, bert
25. Hi. Welcome to the surface, and feel free to continue stealing. I always find it funny when people lurkalot and even then still decide to surface. They must be as crazy as the rest of us. But kudos for it. Are you new at this stuff, or already famous n stuff? Do you have bass gear that would be interesting for us to see pictures of? Pics of the wife? Credit card number and codes? Enjoy! best, bert
