1. Hey Paul, Now let's see, shall we? Paul: Good bass: Good - I own one too, so you know it's good. Crusades: Good StingRay w. 3EQ: Good - see my sig for evidence marketplace: Good cats: Good - see my avatar for evidence weight lifting: Good De Niro: Good So that leaves "25" + "Glasgow" = "Tea Boy": Not good. Go away! Buy the rig, enjoy the site, don' be no stranger boy. best, bert
2. Hello, good Doctor, Welcome to the fold! I hope you'll like what the fold has to offer. Enjoy! best, bert
3.
you are more then welcome to try my basses and if you like the way the sound ill do the same for you for free
Now that's a generous offer! (Probably way too generous, but I thank you on behalf of almost all of the 21,000 BC members. ) best, bert
4.
A few weeks back, I watched the Classic Album show about Peter Gabriel's So. During a chat with Tony Levin, he played the Sledgehammer line on his Cutlass & said there was an octave pedal on it. It sounded so good! Guess what I've just bought?
"So" and a Cutlass. Plus Tony's fingers of course.
5.
TBH I was being sarcastic - wouldn't consider either of those two basses to be particularly pretty...
I hope you meant "ironic". best, bert
6.
Nice! And plenty of flexibility!
Exactly. Also points out a clear way forward, I suppose, when I've tested them for some time. Congrats on the phablet. I'd like to try a thing like that. best, bert
7.
That's awesome! If they made a 5-string version I'd be out there rocking it like a bastard.
Of course it's awesome. Had I been even filthier rich, I'd be all over it and attempt to rock like a bastard - no matter how many strings attached. However, pretty it ain't. Well desgned it ain't, unless "well designed" means that it was meant to be seen an lusted after by people who wanna rock it like bastards - which of course is good. best, bert
8.
Ha ha ha...like your sense of humour
Thanks. Don't know what you mean though. Just for clarity: I really dig the designs of both the Steinberger and the Bongo, and have lusted for them since they were first released, but I'm not praying on my knees before them, so often refer to them as cricket bat and bog seat. That post of mine went wrong due to unexpected stuff happening here. But it's nice to know that something I wrote brought a smile on your face! best, bert
9. Cricket bat, Bongo, Edit: Something happened when I wrote that, and an unfinished post was published. Anyway, what I wanted to write was something like: - Cricket bat, - Bog seat, - A Warwick, maybe the Corvette - despite and even partly because of the weird, but characterful top horn, There certainly are more, but I can't remember their names right now. best, bert
10. Me using equipment to hide lack of equipment, the answer gives itself. On my forehead! Seriously though, for me it depends on the bass. My cricket bat for example is high up, and has a strap of its own that nobody may temper with. It's perfect right now. best, bert
11. Hey SunEye, Welcome! You'll probably have a good time here, so dive into it head first. Interesting that you would help those in need. Now I am a noob, so I know everything, but you should really take care of Leen. Only kidding of course. Enjoy!

You forgot to mention you're from Sudder'n Wetsex too! best, bert
12. Interesting thread. I have a Qsiure too!
13. Hehehe. Shop here had great warranties as long as you could produce the original receipt. What they didn't tell though was that the receipt was printed with ink that would disappear within half a year or a year. best, bert
14. Hey Chuggs, Welcome! You may find BC to be a nice place, so give it a chance and see. Sorry, can't answer the question, as I have no experience with those. Others will surelt chime in and advise. If not, ask again in the Amps and Cabs section. Enjoy your new life! best, bert
15. On my keyboards, my hands have always been very busy, so effects have had the role of switching between sounds - think verse<->refrain, or something that makes one note stand out from the rest. On a pipe organ I would use preprogrammed stop combinations for the same. Have no idea how things will develop on bass, but did buy effects for it, as I'm used to them. Voted "Yes" though. best, bert
16. Before someone forgets to mention it: different series can have different necks, so more or less chunky P necks exist and more or less slim J necks. People will certainly chime in with hard facts and better knowledge, but at least this has now been mentioned. best, bert
17. I bought it for my g****r, but just had to try with a bass. Success! Now remember I'm a bass noob, but I tried it with a Classic Vibe '50s Precision and the PPC108 speaker (only one), and lo and behold, with the signal coming from these Ps, I could easily decide how clean it was gonna be. Also, no problem putting bass volume on full and amp gain on full for rockin' overdrive. For me, with its headphone out and aux in, it's a definite keeper. Definitely buying another PPC108 as well., and will sell both guitar combo and a bass combo. Will report back when I've tried it with larger cabs. best, bert
18.
I am even seriously considering flogging my boat to get some decent gear. And I love my boat!
You do so with my much unneeded support. Me, I'm flogging my private car as well as my company car. Haven't been driving them for a year, and am happier walking and bicycling. Bass gear is better, and it tastes even better as well this way. Oh, how much for the boat? best, bert

20. I'll drink to drummers, like I always drank with them as well. In my mind, and I've said it before, they're the best lot the be around, the best lot to be stealing instruments with, and the best lot to give free middle of the night concerts with. One drawback only: not the best lot to return the instruments with. But that's all whisky under the bridge now. Cheers, drumbos!
21. Great. Whether I aim too high or aim too low, I do aim to please. BTW, the Dyptique is the only piece for oboe and organ that I can remember to have done. Start practising. I've been a low ender in many ways as well, but then always had the 16 and 32 foot stops in the pedals, so I've not really missed anything. Was always constructing bass sounds on my synths as well. Girl who got me to start playing the bass tells me the same story: she was always a low ender at heart and has totally dropped the flute. She could have been a flautist in the Concertgebouw Orchestra right now, but chose differently. She too always built bass sounds on my synths. best, bert
22. Compact + Midget T.
23.
I was a classical oboeist, at quite a high standard..
Wot??? Oh, girl, you and I are soooo gonna treat these silly low-enders on Litaize's "Dyptique" at one of the bashes! They're gonna be reformed in a minute, they are. Oh, wait! .... best, bert
24. Sorry to read this, my man Blade. I hope you'll at least be able to enjoy yourself after this. Me, I gave up playing professionally, and got a better life. So there is a way. Other than that, you should ask Shep. He knows how to not play one single note! Good luck, and all the best, bert
25. Can relate to both your pain and joy. All the best, healthwise, and all the best, gearwise. PS Wouldn't have been this friendly if I hadn't got my BF order in before you. best, bert
