1. Yup! Another one-bass-only guy here! best, bert PS, the new Bongo is not in my sig yet. Seriously though, I don't care whether I end up with one or many, but right now I'm trying everything I can get my hands on. Time will tell, but I do get the feeling that there's a lot of fun in the differences. . Edit: Oh, and if I was in a performing band, I'd always have the cricket bat with me for backup. So many things have gone wrong at gigs that backup seems like a must in my case. Backup for myself, preferably, but still. best, bert
 2. Since no answers came in, lemme change the question: When an amp factory delivers a certain solid state amp in two versions, say 250W and 500W, is there any experience out there that says they'll hardly ever or often will sound similar? I was thinking that maybe when they have the same internal design, then some extra power stage transistors and a bigger psu might just make for a very similar amp. Then again, I know zilch. So is there anything that can be said about that as a rule of thumb? best, bert
 3.
Can't find it in orange this side of the pond . Looks good though.
I liked it too. Found the pic on the Ibanez site. Gave me ROM GAS, but have no idea where it's available.
Any ideas about this which I think looks better but I'm not sure of sound quality.... ESP LTD B-55 FM STBSB (See-Thru Blue Sunburst, 5 Strings)
You're not asking me, right? You already know I know zilch.
I do hope you're not just ranting because of the colour ) Personally I like black but I think you're saying there's something more to it.
No, I'm only ranting to try and amuse you slightly. There's nothing more to it. That and shiny black will show every fingerprint, and you know what your mother taught you about that. best, bert
 4.
Only objection is that I am not sure about your cusine and, most especially, I am leary of Spotted Dick.
Yeah, our cousine is picky too, and she's leary of spotted dick.
 5.
What Ibanez is that Bass Tractor?
GSR205-ROM (Roadster Orange Metallic) best, bert
 6. Cool! Congrats with the fiver. I'm however very sorry we forgot to warn you about the GSR205-BK. Sadly, this happens a lot on BassChat. We try to be positive and just mention the good ones, and then the newbie goes off and buys himself something completely different that never had been discussed. Had you taken the time to let us in on this we could have told you not to get it and why. You should've bought: John Myung would have! Or, as a compromise: You'll survive with a black one, of course, but doncha come back and complain! best, bert
 7.
He never seems to recognise me
Lemme guess: you left your red cape at home... I wouldn't have recognised you either.
 8. Hey Justin (I deem it quite appropriate), Welcome to BC. You'll learn alright. Ask away and search away, and within no time, you'll be as good as I am. Wait! You already are. OK, you made one friend already. Each time you drive past my house in Soegne, don't hesitate to visit my neighbours. They're warm, inviting people.
yamahas are nice but in that price range id stick with the squiers
Squiers are nice, but in the price range of the RBX170 I'd stick with the RBX, unless you're good enough to compare them and take the one that's the best player. The Affinity series is far from as consistent in quality as the Squier Classic Vibes and the Yamaha's, imHo. Enjoy the site, Justin! best, bert
 9. This was both interesting and bewildering. What don't you like about the combination with the Shuttle? best, bert
 10. Congrats, Bilbo! Nice one. Hope you get some readers. Reminds me I wrote a book on Renaissance music once. Before releasing it, I saw that a much better book existed, and sadly it was sold for peanuts despite it had everything going for it, including fantastic copper prints, printing and binding, and several vinyl records with examples coming with it. No book release for me indeed. Hehehe. Good luck! best, bert
 11.
I have both and I'm finding the sims in the B3 have the edge over the B9 for me
Thanks for that. I think it was to be expected. The B3 surely shows Zoom's way forward, and of course we can expect a larger board soon, seeing as the B9.1ut goes for peanuts now. B6.2ut? B10.4ut? B73.26ut with integrated live BootsyLee SklarCollins? I'm saving! best, bert
 12. Where's my neuzekes?!!!
 13. Hey Mark, Welcome to BC! I'm sure that you'll have a great time despite your limited knowledge. You'll fit right in. As others will warn you, don't mind me. I'm just interested in tractorbasses. Enjoy! best, bert
 14. Has anyone compared one of the following heads: Beta Aivin BH500H Harley Benton BA500H Ibanez P500H Promethean RedSub BT500H with its 250W little sister? (where applicable) Do they sound roughly the same? best, bert
 15. Hadn't seen this thread before, but what a nice read! Congrats with Clarence and the Ashdown. Keep venturing! best, bert
 16.
Not for this application since it's not hifi
Ah! Great. Thanks a lot, man! best, bert
 17. If it's not too presumptuous: Welcome, Juliet! You must have been lurking here. Your choice of words is as appreciated as it is inspiring, so to speak. Incoming! Duck and Cover! For a relative noob, you've come long seeing as you're playing gigs. Kudos. You'll find there's lots of convertites on here - many from guitar, but also quite some who started out with an instrument instead of the bass. Do you still play a wind instrument? I played the flute for years, but am really an organist and now bass noob. Stay outside your comfort zone. Develop. Enjoy. best, bert
 18.
The high and low will both be about 1meg
OK. Thanks for that. That's not a problem though, is it? best, bert
 19. Awel zunne! Welcome to BC. Your English seems perfect to me. Congrats! That said, I'm Dutch, so ... You'll be anxious to know what the entrance fee is. Well, as it happens, you have to send everyone some anijsneuzekes. Echt waar! Toevallig, hè? Anyway, enjoy the site! You may find it's a very nice forum as well. best, bert (nee, kennieslapevannacht)
 20. Hey Phil, Welcome to BC, and good luck with your missionquest. BC will prove itself to you without any doubt. There's a virtually endless list of themes already discussed - a veritable searchable database - and people are more than willing to chime in and help should you have questions. Great gear start you had. Next thing is to develop some serious Gear Acquisition Syndrome, and before you know it you're poor and wondering why. Enjoy! best, bert
 21.
Keep your nails to the right length and with a change of attack angle you can go from a finger sound to a pick sound (but with balls!).
... and here was I thinking it was wrong of me to do that. Not that I really manage it or anything, but I like the sound. best, bert
 22.
input impedance on amps is up in the 1meg range. Assume you're using the effects return?
The Low In would indeed, but as I've been led to understand, the High In is very much in another range. Don't know this for a fact though, but can always ask Ashdown. Don't see the need for that though. BTW, it's .45v input, not as I wrote a .5 one - not that that matters iirc.
You could take a stereo to 2 mono jacks & just plug one channel into the amp.
D'oh! Never even crossed my mind. Thanks.
 23. Yup! That's why us audiofiles lately have gone from two to sevenpointone speakers.
 24.
To go from iPad Stereo to LB Mono then you need to mix the left and right signals down to mono using 22K resistors.
Thanks for responding. I was hoping to avoid that, thinking the signal would basically be twice the same. See, what I forgot to tell may be essential: that I'm only thinking of plugging my bass into the iPad and process it in AmpKit before sending the signal to the LB. I was presupposing that any stereoness from processing is not sought after and can easily be avoided, by for instance not using a stereo flanger in AmpKit - that kinda thing. best, bert
