Today I get my new amp.
Congrats! It's a promising unit for sure. Tell us what you think, yes? However:
It's paid for
HAAAAAAHAHahahahaha! Sucker! best, bert
Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum, but I expect that I'll be hanging around a bit.
"Do what you say, and you won't be a liar", my mother always taught me. In case: Welcome! best, bert
There's a band round our way called One foot in The Groove, apart from the singer they are all in their 60's!
Brill. Some people've just got it. Ray, here's what you have to do: Do what your heart tells you to do, and don't let anybody else tell you what to do. Do this right this evening. No delay! BTW, the age argument, if indeed used as an argument for or against something, is nonsense, and you know it. It's just about where and what you wanna be, and by large that is what one needs to listen to. Me, I'm 56. Gave up concerting like 25 years ago, and have only performed a few times since. Now I want out and gig again. If I change my mind tomorrow, then I change my mind. Done! best, bert
Do I know you Bert?
Know and know. You're Travis Bickle, the Tacsi Driver, aren't you? -
Good luck! It will be interesting to hear how it went, unless you died in the explosion of course.

Folks, Anyone know about the built-in effects on the Harley Benton CB-110X combo by any chance? The manual does tell how to change and store the parameters, but is very unclear and hard to understand. It also never mentions what the parameters are or how many there are. I've tried to find out about this combo, but can't even find similar models from Beta Aivin, White Horse, RedSub or Ibanez. Not even other Harley Benton combos seem to have a similar amp in it. I could just test a lot and find out - if I could. It's at a friend's house 900km away (roughly 17,000 miles for you brits) and she's a noob with fear of the cold water. best, bert

Fretmeister, I'm sorry to read this aggressive slap at what many people have experienced is true. What you don't understand is that the electrons are diluted till they become unrecognisable, so they work more strongly. Stronger electrons don't need to prove themselves and are less likely to act in an unstable manner. See? best, bert

Leen, what's wrong with us. We seem to be stalking each other!

Hi Steve, Welcome to BC from another noob. Not 20 years in my case, but 1.
Soul bands, Wedding bands, rock bands, folk bands (eek!) and also solo/ looping stuff
That was quite the versatility. But I get you about the folk. One can love it the first seconds or minutes, but it soon wears thin, most of it. Playing it several times a week is not healthy. But I'd love to be in a folk band that only did all the most amazing and interesting folk, and had a song plucklist the length of a U2 rider.
solo/ looping stuff
You're Steve Fripp!
over and out
And me who'd imagined to see you around!?
Alembic Rogue 4 Alembic Epic 5 Fretless Overwater Elite 6 Steinberger EUB Genz benz Streamliner 900 Vanderkley 112 & 210
Yes. Definitely needs an overhaul. Now enjoy the banter, share some wisdom with the lesser gods, and see you around! over best, bert

Had never imagined I'd write this, but after my experiences, I now heartily vouch for - GAK - Gear4music - Music Matter - Thomann. Have always gone out of my way for supporting local and specialised shops, but recently I had half a yearly income to spend on new gear, and the two shops I wished to support had unwilling, unknowledgeable staff, and nothing or almost nothing in stock. I'm not sore about not finding a Music Man bass in stock this year, unlike last year. But no Squier of any type in stock? Few if any Warwicks? No MarkBass at all in stock? Telling me to check the importer's site for all the info on MarkBass (yeah: model name and price that was, without any explanation)? Having only 1 tc head/cab? That they couldn't move so was blasting down there on the floor and into some other gear inbetween the cab and the wall - a wall that was just 1m from the cab's front? C'mon! So off I went, and spent most of all my money in above mentioned online shops. They have all been fantastic on the phone AND in e-mail, and I have experienced their service levels. But I will continue to try and support any local shop or spesialist, and will support them as long as they do not perform as bad as I now experienced: way worse than "online box shifters". best, bert

No advice, but best of luck! Oh, and first and foremost make sure you have a huge personality and beam it out to the audience. Then, don't move unless you already know this is within your comfort zone and you can play the part. Boots and monitors, as said, are good, as is feet far apart. Make sure you have fun doing this! Sorry I can't give any advice though. best, bert

been asked to stand in for a gig tonight...nerves.
BassTractor replied to Cameronj279's topic in General Discussion
Get out your fiver (everybody knows you don't have a tenner), droptune the B to G. On amp and bass: dial out everything that resembles treble, high mid and low mid. Success! Good luck! best, bert -
Bass player by choice, or relegated guitarist?
BassTractor replied to Tuono's topic in General Discussion
Choice! My organ teacher in college was preoccupied with that I should not only listen to organ records, but also to other music. Made me realise that I had never, ever willingly bought a record with organ music. Had dozens and dozens of bass guitar records though! I love music and love almost every instrument on the face of the earth. Within reason. However, you can't love them all and be good at playing all of them as well, so initially I opted for the organ. Saw my "error" last year, after 48 years that is, and I'm now in the process of selling every last bit of keyboard related stuff and exchanging it with bass gear. Enjoying it very much upto now. Do own a guitar, and like to pluck on it, but find everything is wrong on it. Narrow, thin ... everything. Great for slicing me boiled eggs though! best, bert -
Congrats! Pray tell, who decided on the guitar amp? best, bert

Hm, I'm pretty sure Henry James played the double bass, and that should count after all. Guitarists and drummers? Ha! You've seen nothing yet. Wait til you grow up and get to meet a keyboardist! Brace yourself! They're the filth of the earth. Always thinking they're best at playing and have the best education. And don't get me started on their pet peeve about polyrhythmic poley-phoney or what they call it. Insufferable bastards, the lot of them. Yeah, all respect to the Maiden guys. Imho, they're even better now than they were earlier. best, bert PS kindly find my pianos, organs, harpsichords and synths on my website.

Hello James (?), Welcome to BC! I'm sure you'll soon be feeling like a bro' here. Has the sound of it, at any rate. Great story, but did you support Maiden at Wembley by 16, or did that come a tad later than planned? Enjoy the site! best, bert

I have an audition for a gig I really want. Fingers crossed!!

Congrats, Gaf, and a belated good luck at the audition! best, bert -
Welcome, Nick. This is a temporary site issue. In the mean time we could always volunteer and put you out of your misery the traditional way. Only kidding of course. We're far too creative to use the traditional way. Anyway, hope you get something out of this site. Enjoy! best, bert
Another update.
Thanks lefrash! You expressed what I couldn't. ...but if I could've expressed it, then of course I could've expressed it a lot better. Me, I couldn't hear the difference between the real seventies big muff in my head and this emulation. Then again, I reckon it's the single most easily emulated effect, seeing as we're talking sum and difference frequencies, or what those are called in foreignish. best, bert
