1.
The crowd are also the same people who bought mr blooby and crazy frog.
Hehehe. Right now I feel like one lucky bastard for not having any idea what mr blooby is, and only a vague reminiscense of crazy frog. As to Mustang Sally, as indicated before by others, it's all about how you play it. Some lazy buggers standing like salt sacks and barely playing it up to speed is murder-type killing, especially if the D.i.C.K uses the ugliest sound in the cheap synth to do the brass parts. But an inspired version with strong beat and drive, and a really personal touch, can be killer. Imagine what a keyboardist with a filthy Hammond can do with this track, changing it each and every performance. Lots of space for a bassist as well, so I can't see any problem other than that it's not Gentle Giant or Zappa. best, bert
2. Hey CT, As Bluejay says. Sorry I can't welcome you, as the mobile site is down. Better luck tomorrow! BTW, enjoy the site, and don't be a silent partner! (Don't snore either for that matter.) All the best, bert
3. Hey Mikey, Welcome to BC, or rather to its surface. Guitars seem like a nice easy start for people aspiring to take it up a notch to bass later. Good luck with the sale, and don't be a stranger. best, bert
4. Hey Peter, Welcome to the fold. On here, I gather introductions aren't necessary as much as appreciated. Have fun with the band as well as here on BC. best, bert
5. Hey Anton, Welcome to the fora. Enjoy the site and the banter, but please don't spend your love on me. Rather use it on Eunice Gayson, Daniela Bianchi, Martine Beswick or, should you prefer her, Karoline Wilhelmine Charlotte Blamauer. best, bert
6. Twas worth a lot. Thanks for posting that. best, bert
7. Can anyone describe the difference in sound between these two, please? best, bert
8. I'm afraid there's not a lot to my post either. Just: HAVE FUN !!
9. . . Now that was sacrilege if I ever sawrit:
If you're wanting a challenge, try dead goon by mr bungle. Ok, if you want a challenge for your self,
Fixed. No font size below 24 when they're mentioned, remembah? best, bert
10. Alyctes said it better than I would have Welcome aboard! As a bedroom player, you need 3 rigs and 5 basses. Minimum. It's the rules, ya know. Enjoy the site! all the best. bedroomplayerbert
11. Hey BF, Welcome to BC! I hope it will be rewarding for you. As to getting to know everyone: good luck. Apparently there's more than 21,000. But come over and grab a cuppa anytime. Enjoy the banter and sometimes exchange of info. best, bert
12.
Bontempi Jazz?
Now why do I feel inspired all of a sudden?
13.
1st thread i go to after opening BC is "basses for sale" but i've not got GAS ... Have i
Indeed you don't. Only strong people (with character and without GAS) can even stomach looking there. Me, I'm lost there. Have warning signs hanging on my body: "No smoking - no naked flames".
14. Hey Seb, Welcome to BC! Your amazing gear is amazing, but if and only if the RBX is black. Not charcoal! If it's charcoal, you're out. Enjoy the banter! best, bert
15.
i've got a mim and 2 MIA's , i trust my mim, ive gigged it many a time without a back up
You see, WishICouldWalk? I was wrong and you're in the clear! No GAS for you! Oh ... Wait! It's MIY ... PS: I trust my MIK too.
16. Congrats! Live changing event that is. Dunno what "conventional" is in your neck, but here, we bought every newspaper of the day and the following day, and presented them when the kid became 21. As to basses, I'll only mention that 2013 probably will see the lim.ed. 10th anniversary Bongo. Yes, it's expensive, and maybe a nice gift like that should be about typical 2013 style and choice of colour rather than about an expensive bass. best, bert
17. I'm sure the KSD is MIK, but the sticker, man! The sticker! If the sticker is MIA, you're OK. If it's MIM, you're never gonna trust it, no matter how good it is. GAS will ensue. Just hoping I'm not the bringer of bad tidings. best, bert
18. Hey Rog, Welcome into the fold! BS? We're up for that, yes. But you knew that. You picked up your old Precision again, or? Enjoy! best, bert
19. Depends. Is it MIM or MIA?
20.
of course I have no clue whether the OP has a Fender.
He hasn't. Read his sig fer cryin' out loud! best, bert
21.
it just rocked, if I'm allowed to use this expression in jazz context.
Granted, and a good story that was too. best, bert
22.
My understanding is it's essentially a guitar that sounds like a bass but sized like a guitar.............
Yeah, but it's a lovely, quirky bass (I virtually ruined a concert for my then wife once, coz I kept telling her we needed to see that bass afterwards, and that I needed one badly - this was before I even switched to bass). BTW, thanks for this thread folks! best, bert
23. What Doddy says. Here's why, and please forgive the lack of technical correctness: Tthere's a physical process going on in the brain where more and more units, let's call them "cells", are reserved for what you're working on. When you make mistakes, these cells are programmed for the mistakes. You don't want that. You wanna program them for the right tones, technique and timing. When more and more emitters and receptors and things are programmed for the correct playing, the brain speed augments and you can do the same stuff of the same quality at higher speeds. best, bert
24. Hey Sammy, Welcome! Can't tell anything about the bridge, but hope you enjoy BC. I like the bass though. Might even get used to the headstock. The stuff has character. best, bert
25. Hey Gary, Welcome! You're one in a long line of people who come back to the bass after hiati (must be the plural, now mustn't it?) and stumble upon BC. Enjoy your stay! best, bert
