Hi, Disregarding wattage and the like, are there strong reasons soundwise or buildqualitywise to choose one or the other? Anyone know? I'm looking to have two rigs: one "trad." and one "Hi-Fi", and then experiment and learn. The choice between these two also depends on their traditionalness. best, bert
It's a strap isn't it?
What's a strap? Seriously though: sorry for pulling your leg. I didn't mean to, but just thought a winkey was superfluous. Will be more careful. I suppose Stu meant a strap with extra resistance so neck dive gets less impact. best, bert -

Punky's Dilemma - Simon & Garfunkel Crazy Love, Vol II - Paul Simon Alone in Paradise - The Zombies Mindless Child of Motherhood - The Kinks It's Time to Leave Her - Mike Tingley Harlequin - Weather Report Revolution I - The Beatles For My Father - Andy McKee Intermezzo from "Karelia Suite" - The Nice Finalvals - Lars Hollmer That is what shuffle will do fer ya: very unrepresentative stuff, and also wouldn't play it in a covers band, mostly. best, bert -
Silly man! Don't talk to the wife about it. Remember it's a lot easier to get forgiveness than consent. BTW, the headless stays. dammit! But seriously, of course you sell the one that can be replaced with something similar when money is better again. That or the one that gives you the amount wot you need. I wish upon you the strength that's needed. best, bert

Hi Jair-Rohm, Welcome to BC. I too look forward to you becoming a valued member. For that to happen, you take part in the banter, share som wisdom, give us something to laugh about, send me your basses and give us all of your bank account info as well as its login codes. Simples! Seriously though, I hope you'll enjoy these fora. Edit: visited Fiverr (what silddx says) and iTunes, and immediately started downloading some exquisite noise. This really i da sh*t, man! Thanks for making the noise These days I'm "celebrating" 30 years without making stuff like that professionally. Sad, eh? best, bert
If lessons can stifle creativity and inhibit originality then there can't have been much creativity or originality in the first place. On the other hand, most creativity and originality is total cr*p anyway and would be better stifled.
Very funny. Very true. best, bert

Hi Dave, Welcome! Seems you already know what BC has to offer, and my advice on what to sell is not part of that. Don't even know what those things are. But I hope you'll have a good time here, and find it worth your while. best, bert

Hi Stephen, It will not be deadly to your bank at all. Banks know how to survive even when you buy some gear off BC. Just relax and indulge in your GAS. Welcome to BC. Enjoy the banter and join the vibes. best, bert
-
Yes, I'd survive with that in my living room. Real well. Great find.
-
Yeah, I recognise this, Lozz, and sympathise. I'm going a slightly different route though: selling all kinds of stuff and all keyboards and studio gear, some kayaks, some art ... er ... lots! However, my basses are holy, and will not be sold unless I'm physically starving. I'm already leading a very simple life, and making that life slimmer for every year, so the money I get from selling stuff is partly for buying bass gear, and partly for paying down the house. At 56, I need to have payed down the house in 11 years, coz my pension after that will be minimal. The Ashdown combo is going though. My back is not made for it. Lightweight for me, or separates. Best of luck with keeping or selling the Ps! Sad it's buyer's market now. best, bert
if I ever do listen to them its always pretending I'm someone else to see what their reaction would be
Do you find that you're able to? Do you mean you pretend to be specific people whose reactions you can foresee? I'm almost totally lost in that respect. But I do have one trick in one case that has to do with how other people perceive stuff. There's a recording of Bach's christmas oratorio with three harpsichordists on it in different parts: me, my well-known teacher and friend and his world-famous teacher and friend. Now if I'm to play this for some people, and tell them what arias I play on, they will undoubtedly either give faint praise and be done with it or find perceived flaws in my performance that the more well-known ones perceivedly have not. So what I learned to do was play the damn thing, and just ask what they think about the harpsichord. You already know what happens next. best, bert
