1.
You all missed his tag....
Brilliant! I still BC!
2.
It's not just a problem with flats
I concur. It's the same problem with rounds. Me, I just play the little amp when there's people around. It's standing on top of the big one, and in such a position that standing waves are less of a problem. Lotsa noise, and I don't feel the need for the full 410. Also, I think overdrives, fuzzes and compression should make it nicer to play at lower volume, as the impression is that it's louder with those. Correct me if I'm wrong though. best, bert
3. Yeah, the same here. Now, I almost never listen to my own recordings, but when I do, then it's a great kick. Though I do buy the insecurity argument in itself (as it indeed is a driving force for a lot), in this I don't see it necessarily being a part of the equation. In my case it sure is not. See, unlike you, I enjoy the sh*t just as much as the good stuff. I know what I thought back then, and why I thought it. I remember the processes that went on in my mind while the recording took place. This makes for fond memories. (I have a memory dysfunction now, and haven't heard my stuff since getting that dysfunction, so the above describes how it was for me before. Dunno how it would be now.) best, bert
4.
Go get balls deep in hookers in Vegas
Wayne, you're losing the foreign contingent of your audience with this complicated English. Please explain in very clear terms and in great detail what you mean by this. Thanks for an inspiring answer - should it come. best, bert
5. Same here: Chris Squire started everything for me, from me realising basses could in fact be played as if they were instruments, through my buying lots of bassists' albums, to finally leaving keyboards altogether and taking up bass last year. Without him, I'd now be a world famous organist and composer of new classical music. Thank You, Chris! best, bert
6. FWIW, shipping to Europe is 48 quid. Not that I'm interested.
7. Hey Kerms, Welcome to BC. It may be new today, but just wait: it'll be a quarreling family before you know it. Evidence: What an awful piece of sh*te! And the same goes for the bass! Just kidding, of course! Nice bass, nice bloke. Enjoy your stay. Be family. best, bert
8. Ah! Great, that. So chances are they won't throw you out yet, then? Good luck with the following rehearsals. best, bert
9. Hey Rob, Welcome into the light. We did see your aluminium ladder in the moonlight, but couldn't see if anyone with binoculars was on it. Glad you made that clear. Keep on enjoying, and take part in the banter should you feel like it. best, bert
10. Hi Gaz, Welcome to the surface. Feels good, or? best, bert
11. Most of the drummers I've known, have been a drummer 24/7 - bashing on something or other most of the day. The practising happened in their heads and on their trousers and on the sides and armrests of the comfy chair. No problem. best, bert
12. Love it. Thanks big time. In fact, the cheering up the last 24 hours has been some of the best cheering up yet. That, or I couldn't sleep and read even more on BC than normally. Anyway, thanko mucho everybody. Twas needed. best, bert
13.
I have a slightly obscure gear related question, not sure if this is the right place for it but nonetheless...
Well, without trying to sound sarcastic, you did state it's a gear related question, so ... best, bert
14.
do you happen to have a version I can save to my hard drive for future reference?
That version can be saved. If you have trouble saving it, you could try another computer or another pdf reader. best, bert
15. Nice one! Let us know later tonight how things went. Enjoy! b, b
16. Maiden the Toilet? Just trying to help!
17.
it's a corp/ wedding band.
Must say I really enjoyed that. I'd play in a cover band like that given half a chance. Also, it did make me think of "corporal and wedding" indeed! best, bert
18. Phase 1: Collect plectrums Phase 2: Phase 3: Profit
19.
Not bad at all, although I did find myself swinging brown sugar after listening.
Did you hear the song again after that? And? best, bert
20. Hey Al, Welcome to the surface. Not that I understand how you dare, but who knows, you may just need a ninth bass. Know what? You do need a ninth bass! Keep on enjoying, and don't be a stranger. BTW, your link gave an error message about server not being found. best, bert
21.
I didn't put up a build/customise thread as I read so many on here done by some very clever and talented people, and then I look at some of the shoddy DIY I've tried in my house over the years. It is not good!
On the contrary, my friend. I feel sure it would be inspiring to many. Superjobs so easily discourage others.
Thank you Bert, you are correct, it is SJB-3 pickups that I used.
Wasn't correct. Just didn't understand anything, but you understood that. best, bert
22. Hey Paul, Welcome to BC. You may already have found out this site is huge, and contains enormous loads of info. Stay around, search, ask, and join the banter. Enjoy! best, bert
23. PM'ed. You'll find I'm at least as flaky and unreliable as him. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow, october 11! best, bert
