Fora (forums) like BC are of course protective about what they've achieved. Millions of shops could potentially try and use it for ads instead. Anyway, enjoy, and contribute if you feel like it.

As a noob, I do not know most of the basses mentioned here. However: Ric - - Chris Squire's sound. I loved it, love it now and will always love it. Warwick Thumb - - the first bass I heard that sounded absolutely effing fantastic without any effects, on just about any amp with controls flat. Now _that_ was Plug 'n' Play. Better ones may surely exist, but this was the one I heard some 20-25 years ago. Music Man Bongo - - the sound, the EQ quality and versatility, the ergonomics, the build quality, the fantastic design, the neck feel.

Knowing a little bit about health, or lack thereof, I do sympathise with your situation. I've read the whole thread, but have not yet quite understood what you're saying. If you're saying your health is just way too bad for you to be able to do _anything_ at this point, then so be it. All the best wishes to you. Get your mom to forgive you and buy her some similar stuff, even if you have to take up a loan for it. I know that one someimes cannot get a loan, and so does your mum If you're saying that your health is such that you _could_ in fact do something, but that you just can't be arsed to take your responsibilty, well then you know the answer, and we don't have to spell it out. If you're saying that your health is such that you _could_ in fact do something, but that your fear for a health deterioration holds you back, then you are simply wrong. Even in periods of relatively deep depression, you can fight and you can even win. The fight itself _will_ help you. It will give you some health back (even if only temporary, this is too valuable to miss out on) and last but not least, at any rate it will help on your self esteem greatly. Been there, done that, read the litterature about it. Good luck!

Hi Alan, Welcome to BC, and enjoy the company! They're a fun and friendly bunch whom us noobs can learn a lot from. A lot.

As I think others have already indicated with other words: Case 1: You're a great composer or arranger in the players' eyes - giving them a lot of fun. You organise. You're the natural center of the band. For some time, people will want to play with you because of this. Some time later, the demand for wages comes up like a steel glove. You get trouble. Case 2: You're just another bloke, or your uniqueness is not recognised. You're in for a lot of work, a lot of trouble and a lot of conflict. So: Go for it if you know exactly what you're doing. But since you asked the question, I think you're already indicating that you do not know exactly. (BTW, personally, I've done the case 1 thing many times, but only for projects with limited time scope. Every constellation for the longer term has given me a MUCH more modest position. YMMV and allsorts of course.)

Thanks for posting! That was a luvly read. From what I've heard of them, The Zombies are a hit or miss live these days. Some stuff is marred by those ghastly synth sounds and terrible synth parts (who plays that stuff? - can't be Rod now can it?). Some other stuff happily is spot on or better than that, sometimes surpassing the originals imho. Colin's voice is still luverly, yes. best, bert
