Exporting a bass from the US once, certainly before the CITES rules were the talk of the day, I had to get an export clearance for the neck inlays. I guess it's mother-of-pearl we're talking about, but am not sure. Twas not very expensive, a few tenners, but everything adds up, and also IMS it had to be declared as part if the import value before VAT.

...and there's a daily pet peeve annoyance for me right there: the proverbial sopranos not fathoming that aspect, and using the wrong intonation, therethrough denying the very harmonic development they were supposed to express. Aaaarrgh! ... aaaand lower my shoulders... OK, I'm fine again.

I'm sure you're right, and I should've worded more carefully, as I'm really not sceptical but slightly wary. Its specifications go well beyond the Polymoog.

Er... I'm not too sure about that idea. One could make round ones smaller so they fit anyway, and more importantly: with square ones, you risk them producing overtone frequencies that are not exact multiples of the fundamental (sorry for primitive wording here), resulting in the need for a GuitarMachine DeluxeTM - Drummers Edition. Wait! 😮

I trust French experts only on fragrances and love making. Happily though, @Dad3353's a British expert. 😉

Summed up: for your project it really really really doesn't matter other than the aspects of looks and how easy the wood is to work with. IMHO the fit of the neck to the body most probably is of greater importance than the type of body wood used. Good luck!

Happily, it isn't invented yet, coz: 1) I'm only mildly enthusiastic about those bands with five bass guitars and nothing else. 2) The BC mods would have to weed out 80% of your identical posts. They didn't sign up for that, ya know! 😉

Confirmed. I've used two of those per 30 kg kayak on the car roof, and have driven 100 mph through Germany with them.

Easy! A recording machine with one of those pads you stick to your skull, and it records the phantastiblime songs that your brain comes up with and plays inside your head. As this is a good machine, it'll also write down the dots in Sibelius or similar so you can edit them and build upon them. I've wanted this machine since being a child, and I'm 62 now. If someone invents it, I'll pay 350 quid if need be... 😁

Haven't heard it, but the innerwebz' consistent referencing to the Polymoog make me sceptical. I disliked that with a vengeance. Though: I do seriously hope my scepticism is wrongly placed. OTOH, the very day I have 4,000 money units, I'm getting a Waldorf Quantum.

Dunno. In my case it was about having a lot to do and to relate to, and not playing the thing. i'd guess this goes for many others. Soo many songs, soo little time.

I'm in, but that doesn't help as I'm always here. So the most effective way to getting this done is that Hiram sends a PM to everyone who isn't here on a daily basis, and in polite words explains it. 😐
