1.
Grolsch was the cheap beer that you'd get at the supermarket, about 2/3 the price of say Heineken.
Are you sure? I'm Dutch and I can't remember Grolsch ever having been anything else than a well-respected quality brand with pricing as to be expected. Mind you, they did have several different qualities, so maybe one of them was a budget beer that I don't know of. The gist of your story does fit very well with what happened with Stella Artois though, which in the beginning of the seventies at least (don't know how long it lasted) was a budget brand (the cheapest brand our Albert Heijn supermarked sold back then), before at some point (during the eighties I think) they rebranded themselves as a premium brand that was "reassuringly expensive". Well well ... "reassuringly plasticky" it is for Grolsch then.
 2. Luvverly! It's on repeat in Tractor [s]Manor[/s] Shed.
 3.
my usual listening material are Ton Koopman or Andras Schiff, but this is poetry.
Whoah! Careful with my heart! Never imagined anyone but me would mention Ton Koopman here on BC. I used to work for him over three decades ago - not that it is a much cherished experience, but I vividly remember how he reacted like stung by a wasp when I proposed he start a choir and call it Amsterdam Baroque Choir. The look in his eyes told me that that probably was exactly what he was planning, and that he strongly disliked the notion of me mentioning such an idea. But back on topic: I must hear some Family. Back in the days they seemed to me like a nice band I'd certainly buy an album by "one day, but not today". This view may need some adjustment.
 4. C'mon folks! A little bit more of the famed community spirit, please! No? OK, I'll volunteer then: If anyone sends me a case of Grolsch, I'll do what's necessary and send Leon his washers Free Of Charge! Must say though it's a real shame a bloody foreigner had to volunteer for what you easily could've managed yourselves.
 5. I do indeed know all about these, so won't buy them. That said, it's not always laziness. Sometimes it's true, and often I guess it will be about suggesting to the easily led that this is the desirable thing everyone talks about. But then, you already knew that - since you're looking at this, that is.
 6. Hey Nomad, and welcome! Got it today, eh? Then you know more about basses than I do. I'll be presenting you with my questions shortly. Enjoy BC! bert
 7. Welcome, oh grumpy one! I have no answer to your enquiry, but hope you'll enjoy BC. best, bert
 8.
Quite like this one from tonight's gig...
This Thread Is Worthless Without Phone Numbers!
 9. 'Bout ye! Sorry, had to say it too. (Trouble is I don't know what it means though. ) Anyway, welcome to the surface then, mr oldbie! I hope you enjoy it as much as you enjoyed being without air... or more than that actually. best, bert
 10. Normally, this is no problem at all. The lack of a cab just means the output transistors don't have to work. They take a cuppa and thank you for this. However, IMS the few solid state amps with output transformers do need a load. I also think someone on BC recently (the last year) specified something about this with scientific certainty, so you might wanna perform a search for that old thread.
 11. Yes, unless my memory deceives me, the name of the brand does indeed start with an M. Not that it helps much in searches. I've tried.
 12. Somebody on BC knows. I think I remember the logo from a thread two to three years ago, and back then it was solved. I tried searching, but to no avail. Keep up hope though: if enough people see the thread, eventually someone will come along who knows it.
 13. Yeah! Welcome back to Kent, Matt! Also welcome to BC. Nice intro you wrote. I smiled. Pull up a chair, eh, and sit at our table. Plenty of space here, as nobody else wants to talk to us. Oh, and sometimes we even mention bass guitars if that's not a problem. Enjoy! bert
 14. NOOOOOOOO! Not that ugly liftruck!!! What you need is something pretty... ...something that will transport your gear as well as itself! You need something that is... part of the car! You need the GM Runabout!!!
 15.
All basses with matched headstock:
Personally, I'll never understand why people don't first remove all the litter before making pictures of their nice basses against the wall. That and those pics of basses lying on the floor, and you get to see the ugly, dirty toes of the sandaled owner! BTW, that a GameChanger or a regular one? You like it compared to especially the Bongo?
 16.
I know a couple of good builders, a fair bit of their work is fixing DIY jobs that someone has hashed, or that a bloke down the pub did for a couple of pints - or free.
I recognise that from my own line of work, where I always get asked to iron out the mistakes in the work of others. It annoys me no end, so I'm usually quite vocal about this, like: "You can ask bloody Bach (or Mozart or Schönberg or Xenakis) to make his bloody mistakes for free! I don't iron them out for free! I'm a professional!!!" Seriously though, even though I do dislike this expectation that creative workers do stuff for free, as if it was something that could be reasonably demanded instad of politely enquired about without much expectation, there is a rationale to it as well: - as creative workers, my advertising agent need a £100K revenue before getting a reasonable income - as basically a seller, I need a £200K revenue for the same - my house building buddy needs a £300K revenue for it. I appreciate the numbers will differ in another country, but my guess is the structure is there.
 17.
Loving the sound of JJ bass, virtually any track, nice and sleazy,
Ain't that so! For me personally, his parts and sound tower above everything else.
Bert, enjoy the rudimentary peni, let us you know what you think, great artwork too.
Thanks! Will try to.
Hardcore prawn is more fleshy than punk and pinker in colour.
Bugger. I'll not search for this style then. Ah well, upwards and forwards then, eh? If there's no music to find, I could always check out the nekkid women having sex. Kinda cool too!
It's strange when people say punk was only one date to another [...] it's a state of mind.
Aye! Just think of MC5, Frijid Pink, Stooges, Peter Hammill (kinda), and I'm sure thousands of others.
 18.
I think I have actually listened to fragile by yes every week for about the last ten years
Any first impressions? Think it might be a keeper? Me, I play songs from Fragile in my head on what might be a weekly basis, so with you there. Also with you on the Chilis, Primus and Faith No More. Keepers! Makes me realise I forgot Mr. Bungle. Keeper!
 19.
Rudimentary Peni, YouTube them, mind blowing. Like nothing I had ever heard before.
Ah! That name rings a bell. I'm sure I must have heard them in my quest for anarcho and hardcore. I'll check them out. Thanks!
I found my Norge album: Ingenting for Norge featuring, Allahrm, terror, Norrrske Budeier and Fader War.
Aw, man! Tusen takk! (Thousand thanks!) I'll immerse myself in the interwebs and try and check these out - which again may also give links to other bands.
the man said it was easier to get hardcore porn than hardcore punk. This was in the 1980s.
That explains it. I've been stupid and have looked for the wrong stuff. Rats! But it's a music style I'd never heard of. Similar to punk I gather? Thanks very much! best, bert
 20.
The mystery drink is in fact A&W Root Beer
Resolved! Another BC thread rescued and another job well done!
 21. Innersting! I had a hard time finding Norwegian punk other than Wannskrækk (now renamed Dumdum Boys and a lot poppier) as well as a local band I like, even though I know the city of Bergen had an active, reportedly good, punk circle, and I gather so had Oslo. Any name you could share?
 22.
Or is this just a list of bands I like?
Idunno, but lotsa kudos for mentioning Flux of Pink Indians! They deserve more attention IMHO.
