Good God!
Ah! C'mon. It's not THAT ugly! Blue and brown are what we pros call a dynamic tension colour combination.

Sterling/Stingray electronics What's the difference?!
BassTractor replied to timmchale2009's topic in Bass Guitars
Website. He's on here, but not often. The answer he would give you though is this: the stuff works well with a lot of different pickups. I knoooow, alright? -
Hey Jools, and welcome from a keyboardist who just wanted a cheap bass to punch in some bass tones in keyboard recordings... I hope you'll enjoy both the journey and the chat. bert

I've never understood people and their NBDs

Dunno, Rubis. Should be a breeze, I reckon. BTW, here's the back of the neck. It's gonna break, isn't it? It's gonna break! -
Do you mean the 1979 film? In case, it's said it was Wilbur Bascomb https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilbur_Bascomb

2014 PDN Neptune Blue Edition, found yesterday and bought right away. Never been this flabbergasted with a bass. I'd forgotten about the MM porn thread, and posted pix of its unbelievable neck here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/243768-ive-never-understood-people-and-their-nbds/
Isn't that often called pau ferro
I believe that both pau ferro and lignum vitae are also being called ironwood, but guess this depends on the version of English used. In Dutch, we had something called "ironwood" too, but I can't remember what it was (probably lignum vitae though, as we used that regularly). They are at any rate different. I have pau ferro on my fretless Ray, and have some bits of lignum vitae too. The pau ferro is far from as "fat", as we call it, as lignum vitae is, . Also, I could carve the pau ferro of the board with a knife, but would stand no chance with the lignum vitae. In order to shape it (into knife handles for instance), I'd use grinding and sanding tools.
Sums my thoughts up appropriately.
...and never a truer word was spoken that I understood less. :-D BTW tmust have a name. BlingRay! Tmay not be a Blingo, but at least it's my BlingRay. -
Yes! Did not see my stealth Bongo again. Other than that, I only bought a guitar back that looked fugly but played like butter. Twas one of these Peavey Tracers where the artists had thrown paint at the body in true COBRA style. Still have it, but if I find an axe that plays as well but with a less hair metal outlook on life, I guess it's a goner.

You know, I'd never realised how large that Classic bridge is before checking after your post. With the already ostentatious SR control plate, it can become a bit much if subdued is what one wishes for, yeah. For more serious styling, I like the regular fiver in stealth clothing: -
Hey, stop pretending English is your first language...
That's the most heart warming thing anyone has ever said to me. Marry me, Mark! In all seriousness, I didn't expect it to be English at all, but expected people to get the gist. -

Aye, the Bongos look stellar IMHO. It was a Bongo I wanted, but I felt chanceless as the second window (that I was unaware of) closed last week. What do you mean with "glitzy" in this case (I've already looked it up), and which bass would that be? Your blue one, or maybe the tobacco? For me there's a huge difference between a joyful over-the-topness or some bright colours that don't take themselves too seriously, and pure bling. Hard to explain in a foreign language, but I do like the pink Daisy Rock bass in my avatar - though not because I deem it the summum of good taste in avant garde design. -

I've never understood people and their NBDs
BassTractor replied to BassTractor's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks. Aye. I couldn't afford them when they were announced nor whilst the ordering window was open, so almost forgot them and never searched for them. However, today, with a tax return and also a bass and two amps sold, I suddenly happened upon one, after even the second ordering window (for US citizens only, if I understood correctly) was closed. I must admit there's something about them that I find much striking. Roasted maple over neptune blue is somewhat unelegant in one way, but also modestly against the grain, and endearing and inspiring to me personally. Me like! -

SR Pete, I can't type that fast! No BFR inlay between the 22nd and 33rd fret at any rate: -
Is that a BFR then?
Not that I know of. I'd expect the BFR inlay to be present in that case. But at any rate, it's apparently the 2014 PDN Neptune Blue lim.ed. that I suddenly saw today without knowing the ins and outs of it. Must find out now. -

Yeah, innit? Sorry for the vertical pics. I had rotated them on PhotoBucket, but maybe one must do it on one's pc prior to uploading. -
Totally gorgeous and awesome
Isn't it now? It has something about it that I can't grasp, but I've loved that thing since I was a kid 50 years ago, and jumped in the sofa each time one was visible on the tv screen. Part of that certainly is the cover - assumedly over the back seats in the open four-seater. I loved that.
women eh, can't live without 'em, can't kill 'em. Lol
That is indeed very funny, coz as it happens one can in fact kill them. Yes, yes, yes, I have my coat.

All of that is totally of no importance whatsoever. :-( What we need to know is whether that thing is your Blower Bentley! Oh, and will you be racing Miles'tones of this parish in his General Lee Dodge Charger? ;-) Welcome, Phil! I hope you'll thrive here. best, bert
-
Welcome, Gerry! I trust you will thrive with being more involved. Some of us are nice people. Some even play the bass - no kidding! Pro tip: As you've responded to someone else's intro, few people may read this, as they've already been looking at the thread. You might wish to start your own thread instead. Anyway, enjoy! bert

Welcome, Papa J! Enjoy the bass as well as BC, and good luck with the hunt. bert

Louder acoustic bass options ( is there any such thing)
BassTractor replied to gub's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure Gub really meant "cojon", as in "keyboard player". ;-) -
Welcome, Gaz! Enjoy your being here! Oh, and good luck with upgrading your Hondo. Just don't go for the cheap kid racer stuff from Halford's, and especially not those Cosworth wings or those blue neons underneath! Just make it a nice, conservative Hondo Grand Luxe 840. best, bert WAIT!!! Aerodeck! That's what you need! Hondo Aerodeck 840. Sounds great, huh?
