1. I think the WA76 is looking like the way forward as they're not hideously expensive and have very favouarble reviews.. It looks like gear4music do cheapish credit too.. Ha! Thanks for your suggestions chaps.
borrow my Cali76 for a bit if you need it mate.
Cheers man but it's for my recordings / masteriing. I'd be worried if I plugged it into the bass rig that you'd never get it back! Just as a bit of a tangent, anyone tried an ART VLA series compressor? Different to an 1176 I know but they have my interest too.
2.
If all else fails, maybe build your own? http://www.masonaudio.org/diy/comp1176
I'd love but my electronics skills aren't far enough along to tackle a pair of these. I'd pay someone else if it was cheaper or even about the same..
3. Ideally I'm looking for a rack unit.. I like the ovinlab link, some great info there, cheers.
4. Looking to add to one to my setup for live / recording not for my bass rig.. Any suggestions or experiences?
5. Hey man, hope you're ok.. I haven't been up the shop for months so diidn't know you weren't there. The lads never mentioned anything on a Tuesday either. If you ever fancy a coffee, just give me a shout. Kind regards, Matt Sound
6. '90s Trace stuff is as cheap as chips thesee days..
7. Very cool.. I tried one years ago at the guitar show in Birmingham (about '02/'03 I think) and it was the only amp I'd tried all day that I thought was proper. It was through Orange's matching 410 and 115 cabs with a passive Jazz. I remember talking to the rep that day and I commented that a number of the touches and features (like individual valve fuses, switches, and holders and a few other details) were very similar to my then new Trace V4. He replied that a number of them were built at the factory for Orange. Not sure how many or even if that was true but either way, it was a great amp.
8. Superb! Smooth and quick and exchange this evening. Many thanks Craig, enjoy your new TwinValve Combo! Cheers, Matt
9. I can't use my 60 watt valve amp with a friends Ashdown 410 as it just booms on the F# leaving everything else thin and indisinct. The amp doesn't do it with other cabs and if I use a different amp with his cab it's not really an issue either..
10.
Yamaha basses have been solidly good for as long as I have been playing. Having said that, pretty much everything made by them from instruments to motorbikes and everything in between are spot on.
I had an RBX765A for a while, it was well built and had a lovely finish. I'd probably have another if I needed a cheap 5'er. The NE-1 I've had for the last ten years has worked superbly, works particularly nicely in conjunction with the V4. My big old 02R digital mixer is built very well and still sounds great despite the fact it's probably 15 years old. Lastly, my bike: A '92 FJ1200 with nearly 100K on the clock.Still goiing strong! I think Yamaha is one of those companies that does things their own way, manage to make it work and have continued success because they build whatever it is to an excellent and consistant standard.
11. Sunday dinner bump.. Any trials welcome, just give me a shout and you may just get one of those brews that Long Time Fred mentioned. Ha,cheers!
12. I would like to think Warwick have maintained a consistant high standard over the years. They're not currently fashionable but the product has always been good - I've played '80s, '90s and '00s examples and not one of them has ever been a dog..
13. All good Dave, glad you found a solution. It really is far better than it ought to be isn't it.. Ha! Not tempetd (well, ok, a little bit!) as I'm selling the Twin Valve too because I'm using the V4 and those SWR cabs for pretty much everything.
14. Good luck with the sale Dave. Pow 22, This is my old amp, it's a clean monster, think squashy Fender tone on steriods. I only sold it as I had opportunity to get my beloved Trace back. It's a great amp if you want lovely valve compression without the grit and grind. I records lovely too. I did a review when I owned it: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176021-ashton-bv300-all-valve-300w-bass-head/

16. Just makes everything a bit more 'vertical' even when not using the extended range..
17. Bump.. Open to trades, thoughts, suggestions and indeed hard cash.
18. Keep us posted..
19. No castors, just four rubber feet..
20. Gonna get the Mrs to take some in a bit, all mine keep coming out fuzzy..
21. I wouldn't worry over 0.67 of an ohm.. The only thing to note is that the 4 ohm cab will recieve twice the power of the 8 ohm one..
22. Driver works perfectly, just surplus to requirements.. £20 collected or £35 shipped within the UK. I can post pix if needed.
23. Up for sale as it's just not really getting much use these days, sadly.. The V4 covers all duties and it's almost as (in)covenient to move. I also have some studio gear I'd like to buy.. I'd like to sell for £290 I'm open to trades for Crown Macrotech power amplifers / decent condenser microphones (AKG 214 or Shure KSM such similar) / Yamaha Digital mixer / Motu soundcard.. The Trace is in superb condition with nearly zero marks with the exception of the grille on top which has a few marks. It comes with a slightly battered genuine Trace cover and a pair of spare output valves. More pix and review here: http://basschat.co.u...in-valve-combo/ and here too: http://basschat.co.u...d/page__st__300 Collection from Newcastle Under Lyme / Stoke on Trent would be best although I would be prepared to ship this but it will be very much at your cost. Shipping is not included in the asking price. I'd budget in excess of £50 for national transport costs due to size / weight.. Cheers, Matt
24. My old Ashton BV was excellent especially considering it was a budget item.. Sold to Dave Hux on here and he loves it too.
