  1. Cardboard box suitable for posting a bass. 45 x 14.5 x 128cm Collect from Bristol BS3. Update: Gone
  2. A Boss LS-2 would work well here, in A+B mode. Plus the other modes give you future options if you ever modify your setup or routing.
  3. I double all the time (mainly upright but occasionally synth) and I always send one DI signal. If a sound person asked for two, I'd send two - but that's never happened. Either way, get the levels right during soundcheck. You've got to trust the sound person - or at least accept that the FOH mix is out of your control. Tweaking levels (whether you're doubling or not) during the gig is a really bad idea as this will mess up the FOH mix. If you want autonomous monitor control, you'll need to split your signal at the DI box (they normally have a 'link' or 'through' output) and send that part directly into a stage monitor/amp. You can then tweak that part of the signal chain as much as you like as it's independent of FOH.
  4. I don't know exactly what amp or tuner you have - but if they have 1/4" jack sockets, then yes it is the correct type of cable.
  5. I'm selling three instrument cables, straight to angled. Designacable are top quality, completely dependable, and come highly recommended by many basschatters. I bought these new only in September but have since decided my setup works better with cables angled at both ends. https://www.designacable.com/unbalanced-mono-jack-to-jack-lead-black-van-damme-xke-cable-neutrik-straight-to-angled-plugs.html Van Damme XKE ("Pro Grade Classic XKE Instrument Cable") Unbalanced Guitar Lead Neutrik Straight to Angled Mono Jacks Green 3m = £14 posted SOLD Orange 3m = £14 posted SOLD Blue 1m = £11 posted SOLD
  6. Well, that's just too cryptic for me 😁 I've never played a Vanderkley but they're well regarded so that's high praise indeed.
  7. What was your previous cab that you keep comparing the Monaco to. Was it a Big Baby 3?
  8. They are 1.78oz (51g) - 2.01oz (57g).
  9. I also have this. Great cutter as mentioned - but if you don't already have a winder, you have to get one. They make changing strings so much easier!
  10. Thanks - sounds positive. I might need to send a couple of basses, so I'll bookmark them 👍
  11. Could I ask the same question, if that's ok - you had a bass get lost or damaged by Overland Express, and they paid out with a not-unreasonable claims process? I've gone through the ParcelForce claims process a couple of times (not basses), and it was a bit tedious. I mean... I understand that they have to defend against fraud, so fair enough. Lots of forms to fill in, both for me and the recipient. They did pay out in the end, about 40 days after item went missing.
  12. I've used Secursus in the past but fortunately never needed to make a claim. I've since read there are issues getting them to pay out. Have you (or anyone else) experience of making a claim with them?
  13. I was interested in a bass @SumOne was selling and he kindly put it on hold for me for a few weeks until I was able to come and buy it. Really nice guy, great bass - thanks Ben.
  14. Not enough knobs/switches for a two-pickup instrument...?
  15. La Bella 760FL-B flatwound strings 45/65/85/105/128 5-string version of the classic flatwounds - bought new in July 2022 and have not had much use. Cut for 4+1 headstock. £40 posted
  16. No, he still makes them. Are you thinking of the cable guy, OBMM?
  17. Hmm, of course "left" and "right" depends which way you're facing! Hopefully this is clearer:
  18. KiOgon Precision bass loom - i.e. one of these: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/334251-bass-wiring-looms-for-sale/ Bourns 250K log mini pots with 6mm splined shafts .047uF cap Switchcraft jack socket Easy installation with solderless screw terminals: Connect the pickup hot wire to the left terminal Connect the pickup ground wire and bridge ground wire to the right terminal. Mini screwdriver included. £16 posted.
  19. Maruszczyk Jake - a stunning and versatile passive five-string bass. £1050 (sale only, sorry no trades) Body: chambered alder with flamed maple top and back Neck: 21-fret (plus zero fret) hard rock flamed maple with rosewood fingerboard, blocks, and vintage white binding Scale length: 34" Headstock: originally matching, it was subsequently refinished by JP Guitars, Bristol. Nut width: 45mm Tuners: Hipshot USA Ultralites Pickups: Delano PC 5 AL/M2 (neck) and JC 5 AL (bridge) Controls: Volume, volume, tone; push-pull on the tone for both pickups in series. Bridge: Gotoh 205B-5, 18m spacing Strings: Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt flatwounds 45-130, new in September 2022. Weight: 3.585kg, and perfectly balanced - a real pleasure to play. I've looked after it well during its time with me. It came to me with a few slightly uneven frets, which were levelled and dressed by Phil Jones (bristolguitartech.com). It also arrived with stripped neck screws; these have been replaced. Truss rod works correctly in both directions. N.B. Maruszczyk truss rods are clockwise to loosen and anti-clockwise to tighten (i.e. against convention). There are a couple of small marks on the body, one of which has been painted over (see photos). Comes with a Gear4Music foam case in good condition. UK postage included in price. I'm also happy to travel up to say 100 miles from Bristol for a handover in person.
  20. Boaters, by the river in Kingston. It was always rammed as you could catch some of the best musicians in the UK, for free!
  21. Crap website and complete pot luck on customer service - but in their favour Bass Direct generally have good prices on strings. "LTF 4A Low Tension Long scale - £40" https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/LaBella_Flatwound_strings.html
  22. The Elf's DI output will be at mic level whereas the headphone output will be close to line level. There should be a switch on the RCF to select the input level (mic or line) - I wonder if yours was on the line level setting.
