  1. The Adonit is fine - I suppose though I'm using it only for pretty basic stuff (quick notes/corrections on scores - not writing large bodies of text). Never tried an Apple Pencil so can't compare. I'm no iOS fan - but I'd take it over Windows any day 😬
  2. Yes, iPads are very expensive. I don't really like them that much. But you don't need any processing power at all just to view PDFs - I recently got a vgc 1st gen 12.9" iPad Pro with good battery for £200, if something like that's an option? The huge screen is great. I use a passive Adonit stylus - I think it was about £20. If you're definitely going for the android - I happily used Mobile Sheets in my previous android days and it was fine. I much prefer android to ios but my hand was forced somewhat since we use the Mackie app (no android version) for our band mixing desk.
  3. I take a monitor mix from the desk without any bass in it, into the EBS aux in. The EBS sums that with my bass signal and sends that combination via its headphone amp to my IEMs. The advantage of this setup (rather than the typical way of running a monitor straight from the desk to my IEMs) is that the volume knob on the EBS controls the relative mix of my bass - so if I need more me, it's super easy to tweak. Critically, the EBS DI output level isn't affected by the volume knob.
  4. Yep, tried and tested on upright and electric. Line-ups range from quintet to 27-piece, and we're playing a mixture of clubs, wedding venues, and concert halls. Sometimes I'm on in-ears (in which case, monitor feed input and IEM output both go via the EBS), or if not, I use one or two Yamaha DXR10 speakers. Other than not having a tuner, the EBS does everything I need it to, and does it well, with nothing extraneous - it's really simplified my doubling setup. Great connectivity and sensible layout makes it intuitive to tweak. 10/10 👍
  5. Sorry, I'm not sure what I was thinking - £37.27 (as per @Paolo85) is of course less than £59.99! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dunlop-DBFS45105-Flatwound-Strings-Medium/dp/B01C2T8V0W/ref=asc_df_B01C2T8V0W/
  6. I try to avoid Bass Direct, if at all possible. This is not one of those times 😬 https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Flat_wound_strings.html Dunlop 45-105, £59.99 Dunlop 45-125, £76.00
  7. Tolex is used only on Barefaced's 10" cabs. The 12" cabs have a "durable textured acrylic finish" (their description). Great cabs - GLWTS.
  8. Is this closer: https://www.brightonion.co.uk/dual-ab-switch/ - put your tuner in output B? Or if you want it without the loop, that would be just two basic AB boxes connected together. If it must be physically in one box, contact James at Bright Onion as I think he does customizations.
  9. If you put the output of any AB pedal into any pedal tuner, engaging the tuner will silence everything. Not directly answering the question - but just putting it out there: although an EBS MicroBass 3 or Stanley Clarke preamp are expensive, once I'd sold my other EQ pedals, DI box, HPF/overdrive/tuner, headphone amp, and AB pedal - all of which were no longer needed - I was close to breaking even.
  10. Have a look at DeWalt TSTAK or Stanley Pro-Stack (they're the same thing). They are modular cases/drawers/etc, so you can configure to get exactly what you need. (And if you have Markbass amps, the colour scheme will kind of match 😁)
  11. Updated price: £45 posted.
  12. EHX Hot Tubes https://www.ehx.com/products/hot-tubes/ In good condition, with box. £45 posted.
  13. Use scored charts for a tight, professional performance even if the band have never met before and don't know the tunes. I don't see how this can go wrong: And I don't see how this can go right:
  14. I know what you mean... but the video is correct, as they are sat at pianos and therefore naturally using concert pitch charts. But the bass is a transposing instrument (sounds an octave below) so like any other (sax, trumpet, ...bagpipes...) the same-sounding line on each chart will be written in a different place.
  15. Most gigs I have full PA support - but every now and then, on those few occasions when there is no PA, I use one or two DXR10 mkII as backline. And yes, exactly - just use your eq to get a good sound. Indeed I find these type of powered speakers respond very intuitively to eq changes.
  16. Most of the suggestions so far you can busk from a chord chart, right? But the original example of Night in Tunisia is in a different category, as iReal is not going to bail you out here - the only option is to know it already. I'd say more along the lines of All Blues, Footprints, Four on Six, the intro to Seven Steps from Heaven... if you DON'T play something approximating the original line, you're gonna get funny looks from everyone!
  17. Very fast transaction of a pedal from Chris - bought it on Friday and it arrived on Monday. Thanks!
  18. Apologies but they sold via PM just before you posted.
  19. Blue cable sold! Orange & green still available.
  20. Selling three 2m instrument cables - straight jack at one end, angled at the other. Super dependable and come highly recommended by many basschatters. They've been treated well, coiled loosely over-under and stored in a hard case when not in use. Only selling as I need different lengths now. https://www.designacable.com/unbalanced-mono-jack-to-jack-lead-black-van-damme-xke-cable-neutrik-straight-to-angled-plugs.html New price is currently £17.82 for a 2m cable. 21. Bought a bass from Keir and it was so easy to chat with him and sort out the details. It arrived so securely packed - really puts the professional stores to shame! Bass is great, just as described, very happy with the transaction - thanks Keir!
