  1. This is an fdeck HPF-pre clone made by 4114 Effects. Only selling as I've bought a preamp which has a built-in adjustable HPF. 12 dB/octave HPF, cutoff adjustable from 35 to 140 Hz. Input impedance 10 MegOhms Phase (polarity reversal) switch Powered by 9V DC £65 posted within UK. Edit: now sold
  2. Hi @Alanbass Yes, you can connect an external device through the aux in, and use it as a headphone practice amp. That is the way I used it a lot of the time at gigs, except the external device to the aux in was the PA mixer instead of a phone/computer. I'm no audiophile, but I was happy with the headphone amp, which sounds clear, doesn't introduce buzzing or other noise, and has enough power to go louder than is comfortable for my ears.
  3. I would guess the ones on eBay for £25 to be as sturdy as a banana. If it's of interest as comparison @marvin spangles, I got some quotes last year: Thwaites had three grades of (fixed) bridge, £235-£375 fitted; adjusters were then an additional £200 fitted. Bridgewood & Neitzert had four grades of bridges, £200-£350 fitted; adjusters were £70 + £75 for fitting. Or they could fit the £70 adjusters to my existing bridge for £150 (I didn't completely understand why it's more work if I'm supplying the bridge: his words were "it's more fiddly").
  4. RH750

Hmmm 🤔 so when the pedal is connected to the Ashdown, it works; but when it's connected to the RH750, it doesn't work? Perhaps the pedal has an intermittent fault, and by chance it just happened to work when you tried it with the Ashdown. It definitely can't "know" which amp you're plugging it into!

    RH750

The line driver out won't come into play here; it's for sending a signal to a mixing desk (for recording, or to go to a PA). You say you can't get the pedal to work - do you mean you can hear your normal bass sound ok but the chorus effect is not added? Or that you get silence? When you press the footswitch, does the light come on? How are you powering it: battery or AC/DC adapter?

    RH750

You'll need two guitar cables. The first cable goes from your bass to the input of the chorus pedal. The second cable goes from the output of the chorus pedal to the input on the front of the RH750.
  8. Ha - well, I'd like to give the Spectracomp some gig time first, but I think it might stay... I'll have to report back on the Stanley Clarke, as I've only really noodled a little bit so far; but it seems just as high sound quality and build quality as I was expecting. Really well-built piece of kit!
  9. Hmm, well I did pick up a Stanley Clarke in the end, so have both here in front of me now and just decide which one to keep! I'm thinking I'll prefer having the full EQ and HPF on both channels (Stanley Clarke) over the drive channel and tuner (MicroBass 3)...
  10. I've attended a gig, i.e. as an audience member, where the guitarist's amp died (btw I didn't know the guy) and he had no idea what to do; it ruined the experience for me to the point where I eventually went and retrieved a powered speaker from my van and lent it to him for the rest of his gig! He even complained that it made his guitar buzz!
  11. I'm in a wedding/function band. A PA is modular so you don't need literally double of everything; e.g. we normally use two subs anyway, so there's some redundancy there. But yes we have a back-up mixer in the van, and enough powered speakers that the gig still can go ahead if the main mixer or a couple of speakers die - even if that means someone has to sacrifice their monitor to be used as FOH. It's happened I think once in the eight years I've played with this band.
  12. Actually... if it's a piano score, then yes you can play that low F on a four-string bass, let alone a five. Bass guitar is a transposing instrument 😎
  13. How does anyone hear the vocals if there's no PA?
  14. Thanks guys for having a listen. No gigs in June, but July has filled up; I'll see how I get on with it over the next few months.
  15. Due to this thread, I went and bought my first compressor - a Spectracomp. Here are three takes bumbling through Sir Duke. One is bypassed, one is the default toneprint at 12 o'clock, and one is the 'Captain East' toneprint at 12 o'clock. Is it clear which is which? I think the uncompressed one does sound a bit uneven in parts. The other two, is 12 o'clock about right - or do I need to dial it up, or down? A.mp3 B.mp3 C.mp3
  16. I can now post this within UK in a hardcase, included in the same price of £1050.
  17. Hmmm I love my Mojomojo, but I'm not sure what Andertons are up to, as this pedal has been £40 everywhere for many years now.
  18. Someone should make a ball-end/silk colours photo database! I believe those ball-end colours indicate D'Addario, and the only flatwound they make are Chromes - so that's my guess.
  19. You can kind of simulate a short-scale bass by down-tuning your long-scale bass by a tone and putting a capo at the second fret.
  20. You say "obviously" - but from what you've said, no, it's not obvious what the issues are. What are they? Transporting and controlling the sound are perhaps not the easiest tasks - but not showstoppers either.
  21. If you mean can you use it without any sort of computer at all: I have the similar UMC204HD, and yes it runs standalone off a USB mains plug.
  22. No longer have a B1 Four so cannot check, but I think with a TRS it's stereo output, and with TS it switches to mono (actual mono, not just left channel of stereo).
  23. Some MP3 codecs pad the start of the track by a number of milliseconds. This means if you play along to MP3s, you won't realize at your end that there is an issue; but to the producer, your bass tracks will be slightly out of sync. WAV won't have this problem.
  24. Also, the G&L JB-2 waist is offset, but a P bass's isn't.
  25. For cabs, a roqsolid will protect from bumps and rain, and have flaps for the handles: https://www.roqsolid.co.uk/wp/amp-and-cab-covers-roqsolid-protection/ For heads, something like a mixer bag: https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Gator-G-MIXERBAG-1212-Padded-Mixer-And-Equipment-Bag/2AAK or a hard case with foam: https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Heavy-Duty-Case-with-Pick-Foam-by-Gear4music-388-x-268-x-156mm/1ZC0 (find the correct size for your particular head, of course).
