  1. Mute the strings at the bridge as per https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/488803-yamaha-or-mustang/?do=findComment&comment=5126676 🙂
  2. Also see https://barefacedaudio.com/collections/10cr-bass-cabs/products/three10-three10t . The Three10 is 4 ohms, the special wide One10 ("One10W") is 12 ohms, but together they "can still be considered a 4 ohm nominal load (trust us on this)".
  3. For sale: an RCF ART 735-A active speaker. Selling due to unexpected upgrade. £325 collected from Bristol. I reduced the original price of £345 as the cover is in worse condition than I realized. +£14 for courier within the UK. This is a two-way, flat-response, active speaker which reproduces the tone of your instrument (and pedals/preamps) faithfully and at high volume. I've used it with bass guitar and upright bass. The star of the show is the compression driver, which has an unusually large 3" voice coil. This allows the crossover to be quite low, at 900Hz. (For comparison, a Barefaced Big Baby crossover is around 2kHz.) This means the 15" woofer is freed up to concentrate on only the frequencies below 900Hz. The end result is that this speaker goes very loud without ever losing any low end. The dispersion is also very good – 90º x 60º – so you'll hear the bass well wherever you are. Cosmetically, it's in good condition with just a few light marks. Key features: 1400W peak/700W RMS digital amplifier 132dB max spl 90º x 60º wide-dispersion constant directivity horn 3" voice coil titanium compression driver DSP takes care of crossover, equalization, phase alignment, soft limiting, and speaker protections Height: 708mm/27.87" Width: 437mm/17.2" Depth: 389mm/15.31" Weight: 20.8kg/45.8lbs Full specs and more details: https://www.rcf.it/en/products/product-detail/art-735-a I'll include a power cable and an old RCF fitted cover - in poor condition though, with a broken zip, but good to protect the speaker in transit. As an option, I do have a new RCF fitted cover which has been used literally once, which I can include for £45. They are £59 new - https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/rcf-cover-for-art-715-725a
  4. A good 12" active speaker will match a drummer for volume. I'd definitely put on the shortlist the RCF ART 732-A MK4. The newer MK5 only recently came out, so you can find deals on the MK4: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/rcf-art-732-a-mk4-digital-active-pa-speaker. £599 is a good price - I paid £665 for mine in 2018. The bigger 15" brother is the 745-A and there's a used one currently at Kenny's for £649 - https://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/rcf-art-745-active-speaker-pre-owned-p6837 - or perhaps basschat's own https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/483139-2x-rcf-745a-price-drop-to-%C2%A31100/ at £550, if he will split the pair.
  5. What kind of band, and how loud do you need to be? What equivalent traditional rig would you use if you weren't going down this route? Any budget or weight limit?
  6. Yep exactly. The bottom of the strap unclips. Then the top of the strap is permanently attached to the bag, but can be stuffed away inside a pocket which then can be zipped up.
  7. How are you setting your eq? RH450 is semi-parametric, with unusual defaults (e.g. low shelf at 280Hz).
  8. The usual way would be to connect the DI output of the amp head to a mixer or audio interface, which will have a headphone output. Or unconventionally you could try connecting the DI output of the amp head to the instrument input of your NUX MLD (you'll need an XLR to mono jack cable). So that's bass → amp head → NUX MLD → headphones.
  9. I've attached a folding shelf bracket. Unfolded: Folded:
  10. They made a 24kg 18" sub: https://web.archive.org/web/20180204074646/https://barefacedbass.com/product-range/LF1400-Subwoofer.htm It was discontinued, as was the FR800 top.
  11. Thought I'd check my current settings and what do you know! (The HPF frequency is the left of the two numbers - so ~80Hz)
  12. I've gigged RCF HD 10-A, 732-A, 735-A; Yamaha DXR10; FBT ProMaxX 112A; and QSC CP8, CP12, and K10 - mainly as a stage monitor (10+ piece function band), and occasionally as backline. I found the QSC CP12 to be the sweet spot of sounding good, loud enough, but small, light and easy to transport.
  13. I saw Andy Baxter has a few alder-body Sandbergs in under 8lb: Weight: 7 lbs 9 oz / 3.43 kg https://www.andybaxterbass.com/collections/sandberg/products/new-sandberg-california-ii-vt4-soft-aged-tobacco-sunburst Weight: 7 lbs 10.5 oz / 3.48 kg https://www.andybaxterbass.com/collections/sandberg/products/new-sandberg-california-ii-vs4-high-gloss-marley-blue Weight: 7 lbs 10 oz / 3.45 kg https://www.andybaxterbass.com/collections/sandberg/products/new-sandberg-california-ii-vs-soft-aged-virgin-white
  14. Sold a gig bag to George. Nice guy and really easy transaction - thanks! 👍
  15. You originally wrote that the gain was "hardly on" but subsequently said that it's at 11 o'clock - which is it? 11 o'clock is about 40% way round on that pot, so it's not unreasonable. My P bass peaks at 2 o'clock with the eq flat - but I do often slightly boost some low mids, so my gain is usually at 1 o'clock. You also said "the gain is so low that I’m actually missing something from my tone". The 'peak' light is pretty objective though for setting the correct level. How is the tone of your basses through the EBS if you remove all other pedals from the chain (before, after, and in the effects loop)? I agree that the peak light is independent of anything that comes after it, including the effects loop. One thing to say though is that the effects loop has the option of series or parallel. I think parallel mode will affect the gain structure (even if the pedals in the loop are bypassed), since it's summing two signals. So in that case, the EBS input gain would need reducing.
  16. Magus Pro (RAT clone) with three modes https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=0709-AKG Classic distortion guitar pedal in a compact form. £35 posted.
  17. Boss LS-2 Line Selector https://www.boss.info/global/products/ls-2/ The ultimate routing utility pedal! £60 posted.
  18. Where do you have to turn the gain knob to get the 'peak' LED (the non-post one, by the gain knob) to light up? For me with a P bass, it's around 2 o'clock. Then with all EQ at noon, the filter off, and nothing in the effects loop, the 'peak' and 'post peak' lights should light up in sync (either both on, or both off), since the level is the same at both points. With flat eq, if the 'post peak' is on but the 'peak' isn't... is there something cranked in your effects loop?
  19. The first thing I'd look at is the pickup height. It will be less hot if it's lowered (which will also change the tone). If you're happy with the pickup height, how are things if you just turn the volume down on the bass? If you prefer to run the volume on full, something like this could work: https://www.ehx.com/products/signal-pad/ (It's the same thing as a volume control on the instrument, but in a pedal.)
  20. Fender FE610 electric guitar gig bag Bought new in Feb 2024 and hasn't been out of the house. £25 posted 600 Denier with 10mm padding. https://www.fender.com/en-GB/accessories/gig-bags/fe610-electric-guitar-gig-bag/0991412406.html
