Fitting Gotoh Resolite Tuners on a Sire Bass
jrixn1 replied to Misdee's topic in Repairs and Technical
I thought it was the Gotoh GB528. E.g. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/sire-bass-club.1144219/post-27571316 Also see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1DDRsiioM0 That's a P5 though, but I think the tuners are the same as the V5. -
Compact budget PA set-up to put bass through (without back-line).

It's the voice coil of the compression driver. Even RCF's own marketing isn't always that clear ('The 1.4" compression driver offers unique vocal clarity and sound projection'), but they do list it properly in the actual specs ('Compression Driver: 1 x 1.0", 1.4" v.c'). The exception is the smaller speakers like 708, which doesn't have a 0" voice coil 🙂 -
Just sold something to John - he paid immediately, and a seamless transaction - thanks 👍

Looks like a Super Compact - is it 56cm x 44cm x 30cm and 11kg? The oldest it can be is 2013 (when the model was first released) and the newest is 2022 (they transitioning the logo during 2021/2022). The older/original Compact and Midget have the port on the bottom.

I'm curious why... the advantage of racks is that they allow multiple pieces of equipment to remain permanently wired - but that doesn't apply in your situation. As mentioned above, racks are 19" or half racks are 9.5" (your amp is 10.75" I think) The problem isn't just finding a 12" (or whatever) rack though, but also the right-sized ears or shelving you'll need to hold the amps in. I guess you want removable lids - but could something like this work? https://www.thomann.co.uk/casefactory_lid_economy.html You can spec the size, but you'd still need something to hold the amps down. Whatever you end up with, remember to leave ventilation space and/or cutouts for the fans.

I've had three dealings with Dan over the last 18 months. The first he did some customization work for me, to a high standard. He was happy to tweak it to my preference, and with good communication throughout. The second time, I sold him some stuff and that transaction went well and with good comms. The most recent time, I committed to buy some items from him, getting as far as paying him - then my circumstances changed (the issue was 100% at my end) and when I explained what was going on, he had no problem in immediately reversing the transaction for me. Anyone should have 100% confidence to deal with Dan - thanks!

TecAmp kind of became Eich - same guy (Thomas Eich). So Eich would be on my list e.g. https://www.thomann.co.uk/eich_amplification_112xs_8_cabinet.htm

I use a Dewalt Tstak deep box because I put other stuff in there, but a smaller 16" box could work if you wanted to carry only the Nano . I like that it remains upright and so everything inside stays more-or-less where you put it, rather than a briefcase-style box which changes orientation when you pick it up.

I'm not suggesting that a scammer will unwatermark an image. Your post says you want to ensure listings can be verified as genuine and prevent people using cloned pictures from other sites - I'm saying watermarking doesn't do that, and in the worst case it can give false assurance. How much more confident are you that I own this Fodera now that I've watermarked it, versus if it had no watermark in the first place?
-
AI can remove watermarks with some success. However, the point is that it's zero cost and zero effort to add a watermark to an image stolen off the internet, so it shouldn't give a potential buyer any more reassurance that the photos were yours in the first place. Whereas photoshopping a Post-it note does require some time and ability, so a marketplace post with a Post-it does give the potential buyer some reassurance (not 100%, but some).
-
A Post-it under the strings is a good idea. But I've noticed that some sellers have instead started adding watermarks, which doesn't help verify a listing as genuine, since anyone can watermark any photo.

Sterling by Music Man SUB Ray4 £230 including UK postage This is one of the "old logo" (pre-2018), made in China, with no issues (some of the early Indonesian ones had a hot preamp). It has a slimmer neck (38mm nut) than a USA StingRay. Pickups, controls, bridge, tuners, and truss rod are all functioning correctly. Weight on my kitchen scales is 4.43kg (9lb 12oz). The output is very high on these basses (even on the current ones) and so I'd never run the volume at 100%. The other two controls are active treble and bass. There's a small ding on the underside of the neck (see photos), but it's not where your thumb or fingers would ever fall. I'm happy to chat about the bass and answer any questions, either on this thread or by private message.

Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Fretless £280 including UK postage When I was in the market for a fretless bass, I tried out three of these Squiers and this was the best of them. It plays nicely and there are no issues. The fingerboard is ebanol, and it has a 1.5" nut. All specs listed here: https://www.squierwiki.com/VM-Jazz-Bass-Fretless Non-original bridge. The dots are Jockomo stickers. I think they look good and help with fingerboard navigation - but they can be removed easily without leaving any residue. Pickups, controls, bridge, tuners, and truss rod are all functioning correctly. Weight on my kitchen scales is 4.14kg (9lb 2oz). I'm happy to chat about the bass and answer any questions, either on this thread or by private message.
