You can solo a pickup, or not?
-
There are two ways to bump. Anyone who leaves a comment will bump the topic to the top in the expected way. But additionally, the seller can "invisible bump" by clicking the "Bump" button (after 36 hours). That is why a topic which appears not to have been updated for months can appear at the top. I guess it was introduced to prevent a long-term non-selling item from having a pointless thread of 50 follow-up comments all just saying "Bump".

By its nature, direct monitoring should work independently of the computer or any operating system drivers. E.g. I can monitor directly from the moment I turn on my computer, before the operating system has started up. My Behringer is a UMC204HD so perhaps the preamp is different to the UM2; but to give an example, with a passive P bass plugged directly into an 'inst' input, I have the gain no more than a quarter of the way up before it clips. What is the signal chain going into your UM2. E.g. are you plugging your bass directly into the "INST 2" input? Or are there some pedals etc first?

I have one. I'm only going down one or two semitones and it tracks the notes fine, perhaps a very small amount of latency but nothing really noticeable. What I'm not sure about is that it changes the tone of the bass, makes it sound a bit metallic and increases the volume. I have not had any gigs recently but I could possibly see a use when playing live for the occasional times I am on a four-string but need to get down to a low Eb or D. Or I might sell it; I haven't decided yet.

Why not happy with the Eden? Not loud enough, don't like the tone, just fancy a change, ...?

What email address did you use? I tried [email protected] (the one on their website) over a week ago and no reply; resent it to [email protected] late on Friday, no reply yet.

What make is the power amp? Sometimes they have switchable sensitivity. Or instead of buying more bits and bobs to cobble something workable together, could you sell the half-working MB combo and power amp and get something like an RCF powered speaker. It will take mic or line level, very powerful for the size, and the power amp is matched to and optimized for the speaker.

Illicit rehearsing.. UPDATED WITH MU GUIDANCE

Good question, and I don't know; as per the latest comments above, it's even unclear what is allowed for those who are definitely full-time professional musicians! -
One thing I'd check is the price. This brand-new passive TT4 from our European friends is £909 https://www.musik-produktiv.com/gb/sandberg-california-tt4-rw-bkb.html Sandberg pricing seems to vary a lot within the same line, and I haven't fully understood the differences. For example, this one https://www.musik-produktiv.com/gb/sandberg-california-tt4-passive-rw-mbl-sa.html is £500 more, at a glance just for swapping ash to alder, and adding neck block inlays?
-
I cannot think of a dissuasion. I enjoy my TT a lot; I don't know what more I could desire in a jazz-style bass. FWIW the majority of Sandbergs are active; the one you've linked to is passive. Personally passive is my preference anyway. I'd also consider this one: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/441160-sandberg-california-sl-tm-4/ particularly if you are into the lightweight thing.

A professional band can rehearse, because it's their livelihood. They cannot "work from home". -
I really hate to ask this, but... what strings for P bass?

Sandberg Superlight neck, not just the body, is also made from a lighter wood (Norwegian maple?). This is the only one I ever saw: https://www.thomann.de/gb/sandberg_california_ii_vm_sl_4_pf_csb.htm
-
As well as Sandberg's Superlight line, which are guaranteed to be light, sometimes you will find a non-Superlight which is still very light; e.g. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_VS4_FR_SCA.html is 3.3kg. Sandberg's P bass models are the 'VS, 'VM', and 'VT'. Some Maruszczyks are also very light; e.g. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/MARUSZCZYK_Jake_4p_PJ_Vintage_White.html also 3.3kg, but as with Sandberg there are some heavier ones as well, so get an accurate weight (if buying a bass which already exists) or order a custom build. Their P bass model is called the 'Jake'. Neither the Sandberg TT5 (3.3kg) nor the Maruszczyk Jake 4 (3.2kg) I own/owned have neck dive.

Ok, just sounds odd , as the local recording quality shouldn't be affected by a poor internet connection (only that the file will take longer to send). Has he got a decent mic/headset setup?
-
Isn't the point of Zencastr exactly that; i.e. it automatically records each person locally and then sends you all the files?

SOLD Barefaced BIG ONE w/ silver cloth SOLD

Here I am 😁 Have a look at something like an RCF 710-A, which is small, loud, and about £325. It's a powered speaker i.e. it has a built-in power amp. You can perhaps think of it as a neutral sonic canvas, able to supply all the lows and highs you'd need. Then add a preamp pedal of your choice to provide any desired colour for the specific music style. Myself I use headphones at home; but on the gig I prefer using powered speakers to my previous Barefaced rig, and as a nice bonus it saves some money too.

If you want to buy from a store, I see they have three currently at Bass Direct: https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_Precision_CIJ_Black.html https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_Precision_CIJ_CAR.html https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_Precision_CIJ_2_TSB.html It will arrive within a couple of days, and if you change your mind for whatever reason you can send it back within seven days for a refund.
-
It's not the most efficient setup, as 2/3 of the power will go to the 1x15, and just 1/6 to each of the 2x10s. https://www.speakerimpedance.co.uk/?act=three_series_parallel2&page=calculator Are two 2x10 powered by 63W each going to be much louder than one 2x10 powered by 200W? If not, you might as well just leave the second 2x10 at home. What is the problem with the 4x10? E.g. not loud enough, too heavy, ...?
-
Yes, and then on top of that +3dB I think you get up to another +3dB from mutual coupling (assuming you stack the cabs and point them both in the same direction).
-
dB is a logarithmic scale. Doubling (2) the power = 10 x log(2) = 3dB Halving (0.5) the power = 10 x log(0.5) = -3dB.
-
Halving the power (into one cab) would be -3dB. In your case, it's slightly less, as you're going from 600W per cab to ~250W per cab; so perhaps -4dB. Stacking twice the number of identical cabs is +6dB. So overall, your two-cab system will be +2dB louder, which is a bit louder but not "twice as loud".

I think they maybe actually got the bridge pickup position right this time round? As for QC... I have one of the current CV 70s Precision and it's really nice, comfortable to play, I really like it a lot and definitely hanging onto it. I also had one of the current CV 60s Jazz fretless, and the fret markers were working their way out of the neck to the point of choking the strings... So it seems to vary.
