  1. Did you just remove everything in there, and in its place install a standard passive VVT loom? I'm considering doing this.

    Which Helix?

Saw this about Avril Lavigne's bassist's Helix touring setup. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bass/comments/e82jo5/touring_with_avril_lavigne/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Line6Helix/comments/e7y7fb/helix_line_6_on_my_bass_rig_for_avril_lavignes/
  3. How about D'Addario Chromes which are on the brighter side and higher tension.
  4. I've owned a Sire V7 5-string, BB735, BB434, and BB425X. I found the Sire controls a bit fiddly - there are seven knobs squeezed in there, and a switch. Out of the Yamahas, my favourite, most comfortable, and best sounding was the 434. (I suppose it's a bit unfair for it to win "most comfortable" as it has the advantage of being a four-string.) So if it was me I'd go for the BB435. What style of music do you play? Can you order both (perhaps from a large online retailer with a generous returns policy - Thomann or PMT) and return the one you don't want?
  5. How about the SansAmp, which was released in 1989.
  6. Yes, this. I had a buyer cancel on me recently (after paying). The buyer needs to send a "Request to cancel this order". Then you (the seller) have the option to accept or decline. If accept, you'll get final value fee credit about a week later.
  7. Do they feel horrible and floppy?
  8. Perhaps TI Jazz flats. Do you have photo of the headstock end?
  9. RotoSound Monel "Jazz Bass 77"
  10. Never used one myself but yes it looks like exactly what you need. The power will be split equally; so if 300W was coming out of the amp, each cab will get 150W.
  11. Using the two sockets on the back of a cab will create a parallel circuit. You'll want to use something designed specifically for speakers due to the higher currents involved.
  12. Yes, I think that is the case. Anyway, I sold it a while back, and now using the 732-A - it's twice the price though. With my playing style/volume/band and 18 months of use now, I'm certain I'm not going to get near its limits. In fact for quieter gigs it's barely ticking over, and so just a few days ago I picked up a QSC CP8. I was tempted since the CP8 is particularly small (41cm x 26cm footprint) and light (9.5kg). Have not used it yet, but I wonder if it will do ok for monitoring, particularly if I high-pass it around 120Hz, using the spill back from the subs to fill in the lower frequencies. And/or on quieter jazz gigs which are sometimes just trios with piano and vocals. I've never used an 8" speaker so should be interesting and will report back. BTW all the above is when I'm not using in-ears for whatever reason, which is nowadays my first choice.
  13. I've sometimes used an RCF HD 10-A mk4, which seems similar to the 310-A mk3. The HD 10-A costs a bit more but I'm not completely sure what the technical difference is. The voice coils are different, apparently. Anyway, my feeling over time (both as backline and as a personal monitor) was that it was mostly fine, but on the few occasions when I needed to push it, it was losing something. I never heard it distort, but I wonder if a limiter or similar was starting to kick in, as to me it sounded slightly muffled, or less rich/full.
  14. Lowered to £100 incl postage.
  15. Literally the same - I could have written this 😀 Miss my BB, but loving the Sandberg as a gigging bass.
  16. 1. Blend knob (or a selector switch) 2. Tone knob. No volume control.
  17. Have you excluded the Super Compact from consideration? I just mean that the Super Compact is the smaller version of the Super Twin, more than the Big Baby 2 is.
  18. Is that the BB800? What don't you like about it?
  19. It is the SL line ("super light"). Depending what you're looking for, Thomann have a couple with other finishes: e.g. https://www.thomann.de/gb/sandberg_california_ii_sl_tt_5_tb_pf.htm
  20. The router wifi is password protected.
  21. Yes, looks like a Big Baby - the one without a tweeter. https://web.archive.org/web/20110917030847/http://barefacedbass.com/index.php?page=big-baby
  22. Thanks - I'll give it a go at the next opportunity.
  23. The stereo setup sounds cool. We're normally an 8- to 10-piece band, so including FOH, with 14 outputs perhaps I might be able to snag a spare second channel for myself, to try out stereo monitoring. Is it easy enough to set up stereo monitoring just for me, without affecting the other settings? Everyone else (IEM or floor monitors) would remain mono. Bandleader (who is also the sound person) is completely accommodating and into the tech - but he also has many tasks to do at the gig so don't want to ask him if it's going to be too much an extra thing for him to have to deal with.
  24. That is very light. I had a look at Sweetwater website and the four they have are around 9lb. The 6lb one be an outlier - does it balance ok?
  25. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGNR-gv0sRI "Do I Do" is a great song and the bass part is quite tricky with a mix of groove section, syncopated line with the horns, and some exposed improvisation. Even Nathan Watts can't play it perfectly! (Very very very slight trip-up around 0:49)
