  1. Even simpler would be a QSC K8.2 (or other powered speaker of your choice). 33% fewer cables to plug in!
  2. Also see this thread - https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/304769-ambient-in-ear-mix-on-a-budget-zoom-h2n-recorder-and-in-ear-monitors/
  3. Love my BB735A and BB434, so another vote here for Yamaha. Another option, if you are patient/lucky enough for one to come up, is a used Maruszczyk Jake.
  4. You have a rack preamp so are you also looking for a rack power amp? If so, and if it was me, a Crown XLS 1502 would be on the shortlist. There are also less- and more-powerful variants within the range but the 1502 is a good starting point.
  5. Another possibility (depending on the amps' input/output features) is to connect the line out of amp #1 to the line in or effects return of amp #2. What are the amps, and why do you want to do this? Knowing these details might help to find the best suggestion in your particular situation.
  6. I have gigged with both RCF and QSC, and either will be a good choice. I used to play a similar-ish rig to you (Shuttle 9.2 + Big Baby 2) and now I use a RCF 732A. The RCF has a simpler panel - fewer inputs, no digital menu, no "scenes" (eq profiles), no summed output. For me that is a plus; for others, they will prefer the QSC. The handles on the RCF are a better size, in a better location, and there are more of them.
  7. A great bass at a great price - won't be here long. I have two already otherwise it would be mine!
  8. http://www.brightonion.co.uk/products/AB-Switch-with-Volume-Control.html Put the louder bass into input A and attenuate to match the quieter bass.
  9. I also play just like this, and I don't know the answer to your question. Sounds really good though!
  10. I'll offer two options: 1. Boss LS-2 which allows you to match levels between two (or three) basses. 2. A passive AB switch (e.g. this one) into a Zoom MS-60B which digitally stores multiple presets for levels, eq, or any other effects. To switch basses, you'd stomp once on each pedal.
  11. How about what bluesgrass players call the "G run"? It (or slight variations thereof) fits everywhere. Examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDxhugRKZ8g at 1:43 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sIjSNTS7Fs at 1:10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKxodgpyGec at 2:56
  12. I don't think it has to be everyone or no one. Perhaps you can go in-ears and he can get a floor monitor. I had this setup last week.
  13. Another thing to consider not mentioned so far is 2eq vs 3eq.
  14. I suppose it depends on the type of gig. In my experience, I would say it's expected for functions, jazz/pick-up gigs, or shows.
  15. Another vote for Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro. I have them at work (office job) and they sound good and are comfy. Slightly over your budget at £99.
  16. So "sounds good to me and I'm happy" was what I thought back in February - but now having done some more gigs, I think "does the job [adequately]" is what I feel. They are ok. I don't have the budget for hundreds of pounds but I'll think I'll try the KZ ZS10 at £33. (Btw sorry for all the "@mentions"... I didn't know how to delete them from the quote)
  17. The 5-string bass directly before the 735A was an Ibanez ATK805 which I liked but spent most of the time trying to make it sound like a passive P bass! After owning the 735A for a bit, I then saw a 434 at a good price, and strung it with La Bella 0760M (the "Jamerson" set). Really enjoying this combination since I do play a lot of Motown. I'm a very average player! But I always turn up on time and help to set up the PA 😁
  18. Yes, I have two of the new series and they are the only basses I play now. I also had a white 425X a few years ago. An excuse for another photo 😀
  19. My BB434 with tort pickguard from Jack's Instrument Services 🙂
  20. Do you have a teacher or other experienced person who could give a second opinion, in person? Where are you located? Strings are expensive and there might be other reasons for the dullness e.g. setup or technique.
