3.
my happy situation is playing 1 or 2 gigs a month maximum but it's very hard to find people with the same lack of ambition. They either don't want to gig at all or hate their day job and want to play 7 nights a week.
I share the bass chair in a band which plays 100+ gigs per year, which is way too much for me. I do about 30 of those gigs; the remainder are done by the other guy, or by a dep.

6. Purchased a headphone amp, very happy with the transaction. Thanks Mike.
7. Sold Dunc a bass. Clear communication throughout, and he is a trustworthy person.
8. I believe Eddie Gomez has quite a high action, not low.
9.
I wonder how many people get away with using the bb2 in larger band settings. I used a fearless f112 in a larger 7 piece funk band and despite it sounding nice it didn't get loud enough.
It's hard to compare one band to another as there are lots of different factors. However, my situation is upright bass and five-string bass guitar in a large function band. I lose count but I think its fullest line-up is 13: five rhythm, five horns, and three vocals. I have one BB2 (with a Shuttle 9.2, so that's 500W at 8 ohms). It has great tone, and I've not yet run out of volume or felt it was reaching its limits.
10. Squier Matt Freeman Precision with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder For sale: [s]£285[/s] edit: NOW SOLD No trades, thanks. These are very good basses, and they no longer manufacture them. In fact, this is the second one I've owned! The pickup is a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder SPB-3. It is the same pickup as the Fender Nate Mendel and Fender Mark Hoppus models. Link: http://www.seymourdu...er-pound-p-bass I don't have the original pickup. Bass is in very good condition. Photos here: https://drive.google...NGI4cU9FMVpRVTg In some photos, it might look like there are dings (e.g. back of neck)... they are NOT dings. It is the natural patterns of the wood, underneath the finish. Strings are Fender 9050 flatwounds. Afraid I'm not comfortable sending this unless it is in a hard case -- and unfortunately I don't currently have one. Therefore the options are: - Collection/meet-up if near south-west London; or - You can send me a hard case if you already have one (I will cover return postage); or - I can buy a new hard case of your choice if you pay for it (I will cover postage). The cheapest hard case I can find is £40: http://www.gear4musi...-Gear4music/800
11. Here's a link to a dozen or so photos taken this evening: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByytttLU9OSvemFHTTUzNWtsZ3c I noticed a couple of small things: - The headstock decal is peeling off slightly - There is a nut shim made of card.
12. Firecreek 5-string P bass For sale: [s]£520[/s] Edit: NOW SOLD No trades, thanks. This unique bass first went on sale here by its builder Dave Wilson in February 2015: http://basschat.co.u...ng-p-bass-sold/ Photos here: https://drive.google...emFHTTUzNWtsZ3c Specifications as originally provided: - 34” scale - 19mm string spacing at bridge - 9mm string spacing at nut - 21 frets - 12” board radius - Absolutely stunning flame ash body, super rare in this quality - 5 piece hard rock maple neck with black accents, perfectly quarter sawn - Padouk fretboard, very similar to rosewood just a bit more red - Oil and wax finish on the body - Spirit finish on the neck, feels so good like bare wood but protected - Nordstand NP5 pickup - Russian NOS PIO cap - Alpha pots - 4.8kg I found this bass to be resonant and with powerful output for a passive instrument. Currently strung with Fender 9050-5M flatwounds. There is just one small thing to note: in order to intonate the bass with flatwounds, the saddles needed to be set quite far back, so I removed some of the adjuster screws/springs. This is not a practical problem in any way, as the string pressure holds the saddles firmly in place. The loose screws/springs will be included. Price includes a used hardcase and shipping within UK.
13.
I can see a way of doing DI on it, if DI was the only output you wanted and you didn't mind losing one effect slot. The Left/Mono output is also a headphone output, so if the final effect inverted the left output and sent it to the right side (and applied gain of about 4x to bring the signal from 150-200mV P-P to 600-1000mV P-P), you'd just need a stereo jack to XLR lead.
Wouldn't this result in an unbalanced signal? I think you'd want DI to be balanced.
14. I love flats and play them exclusively on whatever bass I currently have. I owned a Sire V7 for a while and tried a couple of sets: TI Jazz, and D'Addario Chromes. Here is a clip of Sire V7 with TI Jazz: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByytttLU9OSvZlYxWDBfN3pOSnM I didn't really like this combination, as it seems to lack any personality. TI Jazz were too low tension for me, and I ended up selling them. The Chromes were a bit better; but, as much as I wanted to love the Sire V7, ultimately I don't seem to get on with jazz basses in general, and it also ended up being sold. Chromes were my go-to flats for many years, until I discovered Fender 9050s. It goes slightly off-topic, but as a comparison here is the same song with the same band, this time using a G&L L2500 Tribute with Fender 9050 flats: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByytttLU9OSvaGtjVWRVY1BMaVE I prefer that combination a lot.
15. Sorry, it doesn't include a CD or online access code for Cubase.
16. Zoom R24 multitrack recorder + official soft case [s]£220 including postage [/s] Edit: NOW SOLD Very good condition, as only used a handful of times. Comes with official Zoom soft case, instructions, and power supply (it can also run off batteries). Memory card not included. I used it for recording rehearsals and gigs. I haven't any expertise/training in recording, but I found it very easy to use. For mixing, you can do it all within the Zoom R24, or transfer the WAV files onto a computer. Official description: [i]"The Zoom R24 is the ultimate solution for creators looking to make their mark on the world. 17. MXR M81 preamp [s]£110 posted [/s] edit: NOW SOLD - Very good condition with velcro on back - Three-band EQ with adjustable mids - DI + jack outputs - Includes box + manual Description from manufacturer http://www.jimdunlop...uct/bass-preamp : [i]"The MXR Bass Preamp combines a pristine bass preamp with a studio-quality Direct Out in a Phase 90-sized box, providing clear tone without hogging precious pedalboard space." 19. I just bought an Ampeg SCR-DI from Daryl. It was in great condition, just as he described it (basically brand new). Great communication at all stages. He even went out of his way to deliver it to me personally. Thanks Daryl!
20.
Looks like the BB5000 of the older models, then BB415, 425, 1025, 2025 are about it?
There was a BB615, which is an active BB415.
21. If you want "like real life, but quieter", the logical mic placement is duct tape it to the top of your head
22.
I've learned some of the more clichéd lines and have taken to inventing some lines of my own with more of an unpredictable bent to them.
