  1. Is yours one of latest (2017) 70's CV's or the 2012-2015 series? I love the pup in my 2014, lots of low end warmth.
  2. R.I.P. MB1. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
  3. Isn't even saying "He who shall not be named" illegal?
  4. He never had any to lose! The only member of that band with any grip on reality was Michael Anthony!
  5. Just like PaulThePlug I'd go with a Black Pickguard (NorthWest's are quality) but if it has to be one of the ones in your post, I'd go for the top one.
  6. It wouldn't surprise me if the real reason is back problems, 40 years of being almost bent double must have taken some toll!
  7. I don't like coming across this sort of thing on ebay. Neck and body purposefully mismatched. Ok the neck seems a genuine 3rd run 60's CV series, (2017 revised Squier logo) The serial indicates August 2020. The only Red bodies Squier produced in the CV's range were Fiesta Red in the 1st CV run back in 2008. The only Metallic Red bodies Squier produced were in their original nasty Affinity range back in the early 2000's. Someone is gonna get stung here! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324745876923?hash=item4b9c5cd5bb:g:NycAAOSwZR5hEt46
  8. I bought a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 off of Vin, the transaction went very smoothly, and all communication was prompt and spot on. Vin is a great bloke to deal with. Thanks again Vin.
  9. Crap! But no doubt it'll get the overhype treatment, like everything else they've done!
  10. Back in 1983 JV Precision's were classed as lower end basses, I bought mine brand new for £240 inc case. Oh how I wish I'd kept it!
  11. Even better then Dave, because I've had both in the past, and the VM was better than the Standard PJ, having said that, the standard wasn't a bad bass at all, I just didn't like the J pup.
  12. It sounds like the Affinity is now of the quality that their Standard PJ was 15 years ago.
  13. I bought a Bourns solderless wiring loom with the 0.1uF tone cap off of John early in July to replace the one in my Sqiuer CV 70's Precision. I've got to say the man is a pleasure to deal with, and that £23.50 is an absolute bargain, the loom poo's all over the stock Squier one, giving far greater definition when the tone is rolled almost off and a much rounder, less harsh tone when fully on. Well happy customer here, Thank you John. I apologise for the delay in posting feedback, but I've just recently had the time to do the mods I wanted to to my bass.
  14. You know, I've just been thinking that myself.
  15. Fender Player Series & Squier CV 70's (as seen on page 15) with Mex Fender neck.
  16. Here's mine, (I know, I know) but I only played at home these days and it does the job well enough.
  17. Just dug out my Athlete cds. Such a great, yet overlooked band!
  18. Wasn't production stopped due to them not selling well? Anyway, it'll no doubt sell........... If he knocks about £1600 off of the price that is.
  19. Not been in a band for a good few years now! Of course I miss playing gigs, but on the same level I don't miss, lugging gear about, indifferent audiences, band members who are not really committed, or band members who think that band and it's members are their property. Don't sell all of your gear though....You will regret it! I went 6 years without as bass in the house and it was shyte. I realise I'm in the minority here, but these days I enjoy learning songs that I want to learn, and I'm quite happy playing along to them at home.
  20. Sets in Black would be very fetching.... Just saying.😎
  21. NorthWest Guitars do Fender fit pickguards in a variety of finishes for 15 and a bit quid. Here's the one I've just recently fitted to my Squier CV 70's P, the screw holes matched up perfectly.
