  1. The Mrs' son in law has one, these which he'd discarded due to upgrading, I took it, cleaned and tweaked it, put a new set of Slinky's on it and it plays very nicely, and the pickups, though relatively weak, have lovely warm tone about them. considering the price of £80 when new it is a lot of bass, way better than the cheese graters we had to put up with back in the late 70's.
  2. Bought a Hercules Guitar Stand off of Richardd, he's a great bloke to deal with, speedy delivery, well pleased with my purchase, if he's selling something you're wanting don't hesitate. Thanks Rich. Pete
  3. If you have a Paypal account, I'll take the stand. Pm me your details and I'll get onto it when I get home tonight.
  4. It certainly is criminal! At £240 it's a totally bargain, and if you're local (like me) at £200 you'd be mad not too invest. If I didn't already have two Classic Pro's, I'd have snapped this up the first day it was advertised. There's a page on Facebook called Thunderbird Bass Players Group, it might be worth while advertising it there. GLWTS
  5. I just bought a Thunderbird Pickguard off of Paul, it's perfect, Paul is a great bloke to deal with. If he has something you're after don't hesitate. Cheers again mate.
  6. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. The Damned - The Black Album. Captain Sensible - Revolution Now. Captain Sensible - Meathead. The Who - Quadrophenia. All work for me!

  8. My point was more about the fact that he could definitely sing like that live.
  9. No, though Keyboard player Eddie Rayner and Vocalist/Guitarist Tim Finn were once members of Crowded House. A later Split Enz' line up also included Neil Finn, who went on to form Crowded House.
  10. Fantastic band featuring Mike Chunn, a much overlooked and great bass player!
  11. There's a lot of consternation aimed at Judas Priest's Unleashed in the East album, people claimed all the vocals were studio takes due to Rob Halford not being able to hit the highs notes. Maybe they were, but I called Bullshyte on that claim that he couldn't hit those highs, as I saw them on The Killing Machine tour in 78 and again at Donington in 1980 and he certainly had no problem hits those notes. I saw Queen in Edinburgh in 1976 and again in Newcastle in '79, '79 was basically the Live Killers set list, they blasted through that set with no apparent problems, my only gripe was Brian May seemed like he was just going through the motions with the rockier elements. Whereas in '76 he was still a rock god! As for Thin Lizzy's L&D album, Producer Tony Visconti himself said most of it was redone in the studio, especially the guitars & vocals. I know that Southbound was recorded during the soundcheck, some of the songs on the album are actually from their gig at The Tower in Philadelphia in October 1977, hence they differ greatly from the video/DVD.
  12. Yeah two lovely rare specimens there, esp the Blackie. no Headstock repairs on either too.
  13. No mate, but I found out that there was two studio tracks on there, courtesy of a very inebriated Paul Chapman, though he wouldn't say which ones.
  14. Schenker played his last gig on the tour on 29th October 1978. He announced his intention to leave but hung around for the mixing of Strangers, his gripe with Rock Bottom is that the solo is spliced everything after 6:34 is from Cleveland, the first half isn't Chicago, I have the bootleg and it's not the same at all. also there was the B-side of the Doctor Doctor Live EP which featured a Live version of On With The Action, which IMHO should have graced the expanded version. That was recorded at The Gardens in Kentucky.
  15. Both tracks were recorded on a day off on the tour at the request of Producer Ron Nevison, they set up their gear in the studio (Record Plant West) and blasted through them.
  16. I intended to buy a Rosewood JB neck from Northwest, but settled on a Maple board (£127 satin finish one, as the Rosewood was OOS) Sadly I had to return it, as the project I was intending to undertake had to be shelved. From what I could tell it seemed like a quality neck, no sharp frets edges, and no visible flaws in the construction. Their necks sell out pretty quickly, so they must be doing something right.
  17. Billy Sheehan. Who'd have thought it? with all that guitarist drivel he insists on trotting out on his Yamaha!
  18. In 1988 Ruud Gullit played Bass in a band called Revelation Time. They had a hit with an Anti-Apartheid song called 'South Africa', surprisingly the song got to No. 3 in Holland.
  19. These scammers were widely reported on around 6 months ago, yet Facebook still hosts their links. Seems like Facebook are more concerned that people may be offending other people than fraudsters ripping people off.
