Nice one mate, what great memory for you, bet his sound was a raw as hell then.
-
Yeah, and sadly it appears to have sold, someone has been robbed!
-
Yeah that doesn't surprise me, he and Mogg's working relationship was coming to it's end. Infact he'd left just before the U.S leg of the Lights Out tour the year before because of Mogg and he only returned because Pete Way had managed to locate him and talk him into it.
-
It certainly is! UFO.....Nice! I saw them on the Lights Out (June '77 Newcastle Mayfair), Obsession (June '78 Newcastle Mayfair), Strangers In The Night (Dec '79 Middlesbrough Town Hall), The Wild, The Willing & The Innocent (Jan '81 Middlesbrough Town Hall), Walk On Water (Feb '98 Newcastle City Hall) and the Conspiracy of Stars (May 2015 Exeter Phoenix) tours!

Look at that headstock! Squier infinity series at best. Messaged him and reported to ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-jazz-bass-guitar/332491485097?hash=item4d6a096fa9:g:xGUAAOSwyGZaN7gn

This! Especially after starting work 6 months prior to it's release!

If the one you got from Gear4Music had the strap button on the top wing it was the first version of Epiphone Thunderbird with the bolt on neck. The one in the link above has a through neck and Gibson pickups and is light years ahead of the old bolt on version, it's also the newest model available in the UK at the moment, though it is soon to be replaced by the Vintage Pro, when they finally decide to get their fingers out..

Who would you - most have enjoyed playing bass with?
pst62 replied to KiOgon's topic in General Discussion
UFO. I would like to have had the ride Pete Way had alongside Michael Schenker (minus the Heroin habit of course). I asked him what happened to his Natural Grain 1976 Bicentennial Thunderbird (of which only 224 were made) which was last seen around 1980. "I don't know" was his answer, so sad. -
Passing off the bog standard as the Classic Pro.
pst62 replied to pst62's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Well judging by his notes at the bottom of his ad someone has has had to point it out to him (apparently rudely) just what it is he's selling. -
and it looks like he's gonna get away with it! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Epiphone-Thunderbird-Classic-IV-Pro-4-Bass-Guitar-Alpine-White-Barely-Used/162754292935?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Necks - Advice on Allparts/MM/NW Guitars
pst62 replied to AndyTravis's topic in Accessories and Misc
How weird is this... I found him on eBay, but couldn't message him as he didn't have items for sale. An hour later, he bought some pickups from me on eBay. Very odd.
So did you get in contact now then? If so is he still doing the Mighty Mite necks? -
Necks - Advice on Allparts/MM/NW Guitars
pst62 replied to AndyTravis's topic in Accessories and Misc
Hi Andy, There's a fella on ebay called bluebass320, (real name Dave) He usually has Mighty Mite necks (P's & J's) just send him a message, I've bought a few off of him over the years, I'm sure if you ask him he'll finish them as you wish. -
I've been thinking of replacing the Gibson pups in my Epi Classic with a set of Mojo's. Just wondering if anyone has done this already? and if so do they drop straight in and do they have that vintage T-bird tone?
Flying V. I wanted to look like a rock god but looked more like a midlife crisis.
Hahahaha quality

I have a 70's CV and if I had the cash spare I'd be up to Bristol for this in no time.

Graeme Douglas and the late Dave Higgs of Canvey Island stalwarts Eddie and the Hot Rods.
Mmm, not sure about that. There can't be many rock fans who haven't heard of him, UFO and MSG. I'm overlooking Scorpions as he was only on their debut album/tour. I think his popularity suffered a lot due to the issues he had, but I really don't think he's overlooked or not respected as a decent guitar player.
You'll be surprised at how many Americans still don't know who he is... You say "Schenker" They automatically assume you're meaning Rudolf.
-
Michael Schenker - UFO (70's era) Criminally overlooked back then and largely still ignored now.
-
If you're not looking to break the bank a set of Wilkinson WJBL 200's are great quality for the price (between £30 & £40) I do believe Epiphone have them installed on their new Vintage Pro Thunderbird.

7 screw bridge is dubious to me. I reckon it's a Squier neck on a cheapo body.
