...don't know what you mean by changing to the default IP Board skin - is that a setting on the site somewhere ?
Very bottom left hand corner of the page you'll see.... or ....depending on what your board skin already looks like. Just click on "Change Theme" then try uploading your pix again. .

Drummers - where are the good ones
mckendrick replied to thunderbird13's topic in General Discussion
Firstly, not a lot of people play the drums.... you need endurance to play a lot of songs, not just in your fingers or hands, but your arms and legs and maybe even your body as a whole.
I'll take that as an insult. -

Where's me gun...

As per the pic on me intro post: l - r: "bitsa" Jazz Bass, '62 neck, '63 body & p/pu's, knocked-up electrics, re-ish nickel and chrome, proprietory s/plate; '66 CAR w/matching h/stock, bound neck, dots, paddle tuners, replacement pickguard; '69 all original; '95 Jap fretless.... One I had years ago that I wish I hadn't sold, bought new in this condition from Mimms in Plymouth in 1973 for £179 - well before I knew much about Fender finishes. No-one ever believed it was bought new in this colour, but on learning more from the factory by way of furnishing s/n and photo's I now know it's what's known as a 1971 'employee' finish and have been informed it's the clear yellow from the middle of a three-tone burst. I hope whoever bought it from me wrecked it. Selling it in ignorance is patently one of the most stoopid dumb-arsed things I ever did.... Bill Nash JB63 in Fiesta Red - although the pic dosn't reveal the colour too well. Amazing sounding Jason Loller pick-ups. Only played this once, the (Allparts) neck is a bit chunky and the frets are a bit too high for my liking but rather than mess about with it I'd rather keep it in factory nick and sell it on - anybody....? .

Scales are good. You may not immediately realise their value, but they'll get you infinitely more familiar with your craft.... and they're great therapy! Play along with a song then when you think you've got it off pat, stop playing along with it and play it solo. When you've done this, break it down, deconstuct it and visualise the make-up. The make-up of other songs gradually becomes more obvious and natural to you. Practice every day.

My Girlfriend's Dad 1973 Fender Precision
mckendrick replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
.... He'd quite rightly never sell it but I was curious as to what people thought it'd be worth.
Greetings Burrito... It's a bit of an odd sensation comparing our post counts that I should be giving you my opinion on how much your girl's Dad's bass might be worth! But anyway... At the top I would have said around £2600 in good unmodified condition. Changing a bridge often leaves remnant traces of having done so, as does changing a scratchplate. It's rare you can change an original s/p for an off-the-shelf replacemment without having to 'stretch' the original screw holes a bit - and in many cases fill them and re-position them slightly, so the same applies - remnant traces will always be present and these decrease values quite markedly. De-soldering has the same effect on value. My guess at best - with original parts included - would be around fifteen hundred quid. That finish isn't too popular either, so maybe even a little less. Hope this helps. Cheers. -
I think we should all keep our Jazz's under lock and key, and not let them out after the suns gone in either. Welcome to the forum Mac. Liam
Quite right LIam. We wouldn't want 'em going around making all those Warwicks and Overwaters look like somebody's sideboard after a road accident. Cheers, boss. Thanks for the welcome.

....I'm a Jazz Bass nut. Can't help meself, never could, neither can anybody else. Complete amateur - I'll be #3 in the Deaf Bass Players - if that's not already been taken. Had this site and it's previous incarnations bookmaked for ages but never been arsed contributing. Now all that's over. I don't have an amp these days. They're too heavy. So, I either play places with good foldback.... or go under top billing and use the top-bills gear. I'm easy like that. I find I can get a decent sound out of most things with me Sans Amp. Anyway, I'm the proud owner of this little clutch: l - r: "bitsa" Jazz Bass, '62 neck, '63 body & electrics, repro chrome; '66 CAR w/matching h/stock, bound neck, dots, paddle tuners, replacement pickguard; '69 all original; '95 Jap fretless....
