  1. Something completely different again ... ... an all female Mariachi band from New York : The bass instrument is a Guitarron Mexicano . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitarrón_mexicano
  2. First , check you have the latest driver for your soundcard from the manufacturer's site , and also check Windows for updates . Then , when the problem is happening open Windows Task Manager ( right click on taskbar and select Task Manager ) and open the Performance tab . Here look for what may be slowing things down ; - If the CPU graph shows it is running flat out , then consult the Processes tab to see which processes are using up all the processing power of the CPU. It may be an antivirus scan running in the background , or a wireless card , or Windows update , or something . - If the RAM graph shows you are running out of RAM then use plugins that use less RAM , or get more RAM , etc ( sometimes a browser , especially Chrome , hoards a lot of RAM which makes it unavailable to the DAW software - try a reboot without opening the browser afterwards , just run the DAW ). - If the Disk graph shows 100% activity , then that is the bottleneck in performance . This could be an antivirus scan happening , Windows scan , etc or a harddrive ( especially a spinning platter type drive ) on the way out . HTH for a start .🙂
  3. Something completely different .... ..... Spanish jazz .
  4. Without my walking stick, I'd go insane I can't look my best, I feel undressed without my cane Must have my walking stick 'cause it may rain When it pours, can't be outdoors without my cane If I ever left my house without my walking stick Well, it would be something I could never explain Oh, the thing that makes me click on lover's lane Would go for naught if I were caught without my cane Be, bop, bop, de, la, dum, be, bop, a, da, bum Re, bop, be, a, rop, a, de, bop Rump, a, de, dum, ra, da, da, de Re, bop, bop, la, da, dum, re, bop, be, de, a Rop, a, de, bum, rop, a, de, bum Deet, de, de, a, ra, da, da, dum If I ever left my house without my walking stick Well, it would be something I could never explain Oh, the thing that makes me click on lovers lane Would go for naught if I were caught without my cane Louis had served his time learning his craft working in a resident band on a steam powered paddleship up and down the Mississippi . Imagine this song in the context of a bar band on a Hamburg to Amsterdam ferry Or Steely Dan . The Ellington tune Satin Doll might refer to gin - which was illegal during the Prohibition , but I suspect Louis was just singing a pop song about 'caine here.
  5. Handy unison band riff idea at 6:32 And with Ernest Ranglin , that man that asked a young session upright player to play electric bass guitar for him . Jack Bruce had never played one until the engineer handed him a Precision . These four guys must have all known each other for decades . ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And , also listening to Ray Brown leading his trio from the back with the playful authority that glues the band together .
  6. Some Jamaican Jazz for a change ; And having fun with Christian McBride : Monty is old pals with Ernest Ranglin and they play on each other's albums a lot .
  7. An Epihone Zenith works well for reggae : ( at 8:52 )
  8. Nowadays if you can drag and drop a sample onto a timeline and click the loop button you are a musician . A songwriter , however ,is someone who can set it to repeat the same intro three times with different sounds . Lyrics not needed , apparently it is a song .
  9. The BBC thought " Ebeneezer Goode " was about a person , so they allowed it on Top Of The Pops .
  10. I was working playing keys and singing lead vocals 6 nights a week residency gig at the second biggest hotel in Jersey . One breaktime in the dressing room the bass player showed me the fingering for a major scale on her backup bass unplugged , so I played and sang " A Whiter Shade Of Pale " . When the drummer came back from the bar he said " I didn't know you played bass , Dave ! " ( I had already been playing the bassline for years with my left foot on Hammond .)
  11. A Bread song turned into a jazz waltz :
  12. Sept 69 Abbey Road was released . A month later George Benson and friends ( including Ron Carter and Jerry Jemmott , Herbie Hancock , Freddie Hubbard ) recorded " The Other Side Of Abbey Road " an album of covers .
  13. Speaking of which , here is the original writer of one of Val's hits :
  14. We can work it out . Here comes the sun .
  15. Couple of Randy Newman songs : " You can leave your hat on " was a hit for Joe Cocker and later for Tom Jones . " I think its going to rain today " was on the first UB40 album and also covered with a superb arrangement by Joe Cocker .
  16. " Without You "from the 1970 album No Dice by Badfinger was a later hit for Harry Nillson , and also later for Mariah Carey . Fred Neil's " Everybody's Talkin' " was a hit 3 years after for Harry Nillson after his version was featured in the " Midnight Cowboy " film .
  17. Maybe try asking Bassix themselves via their site : https://bassix.net
  18. Are you hearing the strange resonance using headphones ? 🎧 If not , then the room / cab placement / frequency / ratio / listening position / tonewoods-aligned-with-crystals effect may come into play . How do the A on the keyboard and the A on the bass compare on the same phone tuner app ? 🕵️‍♂️
  19. I would like hear a songwriting collaboration between Sting and Colin Hay .
