Should it stay- or should it go?
DaveFry replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
I just searched the UK site named after the river in South America for " SmartMedia " (no gaps ) and found some for £13 to £20 . -
Gil Scott-Heron used to introduce his bass player as " The Secretary For Entertainment " , explaining that if you want entertainment then you apply to the secretary .

An attitude of play invites the muse to visit . An attitude of " listen to / look at me " discourages the muse . We PLAY instruments .

Ray ( real name ) moved to Jersey here in 1985 . I used to mow his lawn . He is somewhat of a recluse , although local bands have recorded at his home studio . - Jersey only allows a finite number of Wealthy Immigrants in each year . Ray was the first musician but now we have .........the legend Jack Casady ! . ( Neither have approached me playing the street pianos . . Yet. ) " Nothing Rhymed " is a cracking song . He wrote it at 18 .

Solar - Miles Davis Harmonic Analysis
DaveFry replied to JuliusGroove's topic in Theory and Technique
I hear bits of Blue Bossa in it , but Solar was 9 years earlier . -
Question, do English people have any appreciation for any of your legendary bands that in terms of pop music put England on the map?
I couldn't answer that , I'm from Jersey . We put the English on our map in 1066 , but I wouldn't be so bold as to speak for them .

Alan Gorrie playing a 5-string with the " Live from Daryl's House " house band ; ( when he points to his head he is indicating to the rest of the band that the tune goes back to the " head " ie top of the chart )

First thought ; It might be wise to check what the local voltage will be , it may be 110v or something . Second thought ;I seem to recall a story of Elton John recording there with his old regular band . The studio atmosphere was full of the local giggleweed so that when the guitarist decided that the current track needed some banjo and he opened the banjo case whereupon his banjo snapped in two due to the flight handling , the drummer fell off his stool laughing and no more recording was possible that day because of the giggles !

A young bull and an old bull are standing at the top of a hill . The young one exclaims " Hey . there is a herd of cows down there ! Let's charge down and bonk one each ! ". The old one calmly replies " No. We'll walk down there and bonk the lot of them . "

Me too ! I don't name my bass guitars , but the upright I call Aybeedeepy , partly because of the deep sound , partly because ABDP stands for Autistic Bachelor's Dancing Partner . ( First instrument I could dance with )

In remote parts of Asia the Ebony fellers use elephants to haul the trees to the nearest river to extract it . However , ebony is so dense that it sinks , so they fell a further two trees of another species to lash either side of the ebony to make it float . If the raft subsequently gets stuck up a creek with no paddle then that makes three logs in trouble . -
Garageband problem - or maybe it's just me

The " Direct Monitoring " button on the front allows the user to send the input ( your bass ) directly to the outputs ( monitoring ), ie without going through the computer processing and out again . . Try with the Direct Monitoring button off . -

Opening chords that send shivers down your spine
DaveFry replied to colgraff's topic in General Discussion
The first result of a quick memory scan goes back to 1976 . 'Twas the year of parched lawns in the summer drought and the first Sex Pistols single . However, in the smooth jazz world George Benson released his first album for Warner Bros . It starts with a short five chord intro to the title track which sounds like something Jimmy Webb could have written , but is not heard again on the whole album . Breezin' by George Benson ( - Stanley Banks on bass . - ) -
How is the hair , Steve ? Further investigations indicate it could be a sample rate and bit-depth mismatch between the Win 7 defaults and the 404 settings . If they don't match then the sound card will be very busy resampling all the time which may lead to dropouts . Try configuring them so that they match :- see the 4th reply on this this page , the one from the E-MU employee ; http://productionfor...pic.php?t=11041 and ; http://www.moonshizz...and-how-to-fix/ - Don't be afraid to ask for further explanation/guidance .
