1. High quality acoustic bass, Made in Korea. Comes with an ABS hard case, not so common for these basses, the case is a little battered but does its job. At the moment it is strung with Tomastik Infeld JF334 Jazz Flats, also comes with a set of the more usual bronze acoustic strings - take £20 off if you don't want the Tomastiks and I'll put the bronze strings back on for you (the TI Flats also happen to fit my stingray!). It plays beautifully and sounds great with a neck and action that would put many electric basses to shame. Built in preamp with tuner and EQ. More specs here: http://www.musicians...c-electric-bass It has been well used and hence has some dings and also some slightly odd fade marks, the frets are excellent except for one which has had a fret repair, it remains a high quality instrument though. PM me and I'll send you high res photos of the dings etc so you know exactly what you are buying. It's far from perfect but I think with the case and Tomastiks the price reflects that. Postage will be somewhere in the region of £20 by parcelforce express 48 or UPS - I'll need a delivery postcode to get an accurate quote. If you want to trade rather than buy with cash I'm interested in markbass amps or possibly other small and lightweight ones (GK, TCE), or possibly valve preamp pedals. trade + cash if necessary, PM me.
2. Good god man, I don't need one of these but at that price I'm sorely tempted. Someone buy this before I break.
3. Just sold a pedal to Rik. Easy going guy and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!
4.
Seems very very good so far. I may cancel before 14 days then come back when I have the cash.it definitely seems worth the $168.I presume that's a years subscription. ?
Not a bad way to go, if you are on the mailing list you might get a cheaper offer sometime anyway. 168USD is first years subscription (although often cheaper), after the first year you'll be offered lifetime membership for about the same again or further annual subs for less.
5.
As I understand it, you can sign-up to the web site, which has some videos etc for free. The 14 day trail refers to the academy.
Yes that's right. The free part is just the YouTube clips/lessons plus a few small extras.
6. Hi mate, Scotts tutorial modules are just one part of the SBL Academy, the rest being expert seminars, backing tracks, student feedback, and other stuff that I can't remember right now. If you've got issues or questions, go into the 'campus' section (the forum essentially) and ask there, people are really helpful. Or if you don't feel like doing that, send a private message through the forum to one of the mods or admins. 168 bucks sounds like the full whack, usually there's promos during the year you can get it for less, like during live events etc. Its a great resource and worth the money in my view, also the amount of in depth lessons, tutorials and seminars just grows all the time. Cheers, Dan
7. Ed Friedland reckons their pretty versatile, gets quite animated about it in this review - about 4.05 - 4.55 https://www.youtube....h?v=TlMStrT5A6M I feel I can get my 4H ray to sound a lot like my P bass, but yes you can tell the difference. However, I haven't heard any other bass that gets close to the sound of a ray - that doesn't have the humbucker in the sweet spot. All the MM/P type basses its too close to the bridge, among other limitations (pickup type, preamp, woods etc).
8.
Thanks, folks! The adventure continues :-)
Loved your playing (and singing) really excellent band. Would love it BBC4 put the whole performances on youtube as well as all the auditions that didn't get airtime too.
9. I know there's some love for the Ibanez Musician on here. Hopefully a facebook link works on here, you might have to join the group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1538481643077741/permalink/1662422494016988/?sale_post_id=1662422494016988
10. Did anyone post this pic yet? http://equipboard.com/pros/billy-sheehan/vox-custom-j-p-bass-guitatr
11.
£150 isn't a bad price either. Nice..
Yes, it's in that unfortunate range of 'I really didn't want one, but at that price I could just try it out and see....'
12.
Anyone know if this would have started out looking like this? My gut feel is it would have been painted and someone's been lucky in what they found when stripping it. But you never know.
No that's how they were made: http://www.voxshowroom.com/catalogs/1982_p4.html I've just seen another one for sale local to me in good nick for £150.
13. As if by magic its flashier cousin just turned up: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vox-Custom-3002-Bass-MIJ/142002565853?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Da36480a6d47347118b5c689f3edf4bc1%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D142002565853 Anyone played one of these beauties? Anyone know what the nut width is?
14. Looks like there is some love for them on here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/81077-vox-standard-bass/
15.
Design meeting at Vox..... "Do you think we need a neck pick-up on this one, do you think?" "Nah, it'll be ok with just the bridge pickup"
P Ray?
16.
Weird pickup placement
Quick google search found the catalogue entry: http://www.voxshowroom.com/catalogs/1982_p4.html
17. Anyone know anything about these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vox-bass-guitar-/262442157487?hash=item3d1ac585af:g:a8wAAOSwxehXO11T Same bass on US ebay for $400. How do they sound and play? Didn't Billy Sheehan play a Vox at some stage? What's a realistic price? Just noticed its pickup only so not for me, but still interested in knowing more about them.
18. Just sold Colin a mighty mite neck. Real easy transaction - no messing round and a nice bloke to boot. buy or sell with absolute confidence. Thanks, Dan
19.
My daughter works down in the smoke so not an issue. Just curious as to what it is as my efforts to find out via Google have left me confused.com
Something is amiss with this one. The 'fender' decal was only used on the much earlier Squier line, and it looks a lot different than that. It looks like a fake decal of the 'fender' part at least. Also, Squier MIJ headstocks look a lot different on this period - check out my MIJ P bass I sold a while back to see how it should look: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/272706-sold-mij-squier-p-bass-olympic-white-sd-pu-schaller-bridge-l250-inc-uk-shipping/page__fromsearch__1 so, its not a JV/SQ with a replacement decal as the serial wouldn't match that, and I doubt its a 90's MIJ as the serial is in the wrong place - or maybe its one that has been modded to look like a JV? Just all looks dodgy to me.
20.
Open to offers?
I don't have a lot of wiggle room, but I'll certainly look at any offer if you pm me.
