1. Video of one song (Get Back) from the Dogs' NYE gig mentioned above: http://youtu.be/nPvzr6ZSbhc
2. "Which of the guys is your husband?" (Answer is usually "All of them", whichever of us girls gets asked.)
3. Bump - this comp is still on, as per their FB photo: https://www.facebook.com/londonbassguitarshow/photos/a.134694719922317.22182.117453918313064/833606963364419/?type=1&theater
4. And with a leccy kit in the band, the soundwoman/photographer/lights operator (aherm) can shout at the guitarists to turn themselves down, and they will do so!!
5. This thread is fantastic, and you all made it so! Thank you. I notice that I'm not the only one who learned to play bass on a Crafter. I bought it online (can't remember where, but not Thomann I think) as part of a beginner combo, and had never heard of the make. Being a lefty and not knowing whether I would continue to play beyond the first few weeks stopped me shopping for more expensive models/makes. The Warwicks came later!!
6. Go on, here is the thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254491-post-a-pic-of-your-very-first-bass/
7. As inspired by Seashell's anniversary thread. I'll start with my Crafter. I still have it, immaculately preserved, and will never get rid of it. This is a photo taken several years ago with a rather crap camera, and I'm posting it on purpose - taking a new one with my all-singing, all-dancing DSLR would ruin the feel of this thread. Edit: and yes, the photo contains a selfie as well, if you look carefully
8. I feel a separate "post a pic of your first ever bass" thread coming on!! Who's with me? Should I start one?
9. This is a heart-warming post, and I'm going to tweet it! Thank you Shell
10. And - spare a thought for households with two bassists...
11.
... and for the wife ..?
Excellent!
12. I've been advised that the team is currently covering NAMM but will be back in force - and check out and reply to our queries and suggestions - as soon as that event is over
13. A few shots. During soundcheck: The gig: The jam session with our very own EliasMooseblaster (Ralph) on bass!
14. I've tweeted this too. Good luck.
15. Tweeted. Good luck to them.
16. That's great, we didn't mind being part of that, so keep us posted about the next one
17. We never found Ralph and his other half! We drove back to Chiswick - cos we're not really Camden-on-a-Friday-night material, the two of us, are we? - and had a relaxing night in. Awesome to know that the gig sold out!
18.
It's a bit unfortunate that they mentioned it being Stu Hamm's first LBGS in the mag though as he was there a few years ago, first year possibly? Hope some more players are announced soon, it's still looking a bit thin on the ground. Wondering if they are waiting for 101% confirmations after Armand Sabal Lecco had visa problems at the last minute last year.
I think the show was still called the London International Music Show when Stu was there last (I had a brief chat with him). If my recollection is correct, then this *will* be his first time at the LBGS as such.
19. Tweeted. I'll create a Facebook event in due course.
20.
BGM run LBGS - because they run some live news stuff they will often pre-promote on the magazine news pages ahead of the show site. Gets them additional site traffic and good for SEO if they release lots of current news articles
Exactly
21. All yours if you'd like to pop in, Sean
22. I don't know the tecnical details, but it must have to do with the different way in which flats vibrate - because they tend to be 'stiffer' (for lack of a more technical term). I'm sure someone more experienced can explain tension, compliance and all that jazz...
23. Big Thomann cardboard box with padding, and smaller, thinner Warwick Corvette box inside. Collection of either or both from Chiswick or South Acton as soon as possible please - otherwise they go into the recycling box. Thanks!
