Yes to all the above, especially Barrie's suggestion. Regarding the left-handed models not getting enough attention or buyers, it's all a bit of a vicious circle - there are too few left-handed people who play left-handed, usually because there are no or too few suitable left-handed instruments available, and such a small number of lefty players makes it uneconomical for bullders to build lefty instruments, which leads to a scarcity, which leads to too many lefties playing righty, etc. etc. ad infinitum. I have no solution to that, but I did wonder why a vendor like Spector, who came to the LBGS with at least 20 bass guitars, didn't even bother to have one lefty. Warwick had fewer models and two lefties IIRC. Hofner always has at least one violin, sometimes other models too (Thank you, Sir Paul, for putting lefties on the map...).

Thanks Sara - I'm tweeting this thread to spread the word to our followers, and hopefully get more opinions in I'll start by mentioning that it would be nice to have a few stands that sell cheaper accessories, as opposed to high-end basses, or even low-end basses, since those too are out of reach if your exhibition budget as a visitor is only a few tens of pounds.

To get back to King Ralph, the band (with Paul of the Junkyard Dogs depping on percussion) had a last-minute gig at The Tap On The Line at Kew Gardens station last night, which went down really well with the crowd These pics were taken pre-mad dancing (the mad dancing is on video).

I've never investigated the idea of hiring a school in London like Colin and Nik do for the SE bash in Addlestone. Or replying to one of those emails from Ealing Council who beg me to "book my event" in their function rooms (they do have a quite nice town hall in Ealing, I must say!). What does the London membership think of Rob's idea?

Central London would probably be a nightmare for access, parking and cost. Greater London might be feasible, but once again it might not suit everybody. For instance, finding a pub with a large function room and without excessive noise restrictions during the day (e.g. the George IV in Chiswick) might work, but those who would have to drive or - God forbid - tube it from the other end of town might prefer to give it a miss.

I don't remember seeing an ACG 5... These were some of the basses in the area.

Apologies for the rattles, squeaks and other noises - the camera's microphone was amplifying absolutely every sound coming its way, not just the speech as would have been far preferable.
