1. Back at The Black Horse in Greenford on Sat 27th September for a cracking gig! https://www.flickr.com/photos/bluejay_my_photos/sets/72157647830502100/
2. The latest KK acoustic gig was at Library Bar in Islington on 24th September:
3. Ahhh, Mark The Dad giving way to Mark Discreet - good stuff
4.
This might sound strange, but you should try teaching him right-handed. I'm a lefty but learned right-handed. Having your most dexterous hand on the frets might offer more ease of playing. It did with me anyhow.
Totally disagree. Exactly the opposite for me. Let him decide what he feels more comfortable with, and take it from there. He can also do a Micheal Angelo Batio and learn to play both ways...
5. I'll tweet this final appeal later today. Well done to all involved.
6.
NBD - Young Master Discreet's Harley Harley-Benton, that is. Young master discreet (12) expressed a desire to learn the bass guitar after he saw the effect that being a bass player had on young women, so I bought him a Harley-Benton bundle - a P-Bass and a little HB amp with an 8" driver and a strap and cables, etc. from Thomann. Here he is, the moon-faced git. And such an expression of joy that can only be had from your very first bass. I wish this had been my first bass, as it's actually very playable indeed and is incredible value. The intonation and action were good and bizarrely it was almost in tune right out of the box. The amp's not half bad either for home practice and fortunately has a headphone socket... Thing is, he's a lefty... yes, I know. But it makes teaching him easier as we can use the 'mirror image' technique, which is actually quite handy for the swift transference of fingerboard knowledge. He still has a bit of work to do on his left hand, obviously (normally right hand - see how it is??) Still, he's happy for five minutes and no doubt will be suffering from GAS pretty soon... ...he already has his eye on my rig but there's NO WAY, buddy!!
Welcome to Bass from a fellow lefty! Bring him to a bassbash
That's great! I hadn't thought of the 'mirroring' advantage of teaching a leftie. Three year old mini-RR is showing signs of being a southpaw, and I was just about to break out the cattle prod for some corrective therapy - maybe I'll hold back
7. The band returns to this friendly community pub on Saturday. Come along if you're in the area!

9. The design was the winning entry in a contest Warwick had on their discussion forum and their social media channels a year or two ago to celebrate their 30th birthday. Never meant to be a huge seller or even taken too seriously. (And there's no lefty version...!)
10. You may well have too much choice in this! http://www.thomann.de/gb/search_dir.html?sw=just+a+nut
11. Coloured rings at the other end? D'Addario Chromes Edit: as in this I mean
12. Thank you John (Edit: and Nik, who cross-posted with me)! It was great to meet you and your lovely other half (both of you guys - I knew Loraine already). It was an awesome day
13. Mini-blog of the mini-bash finally online! See here: http://wp.me/p2ZbyY-mO As I said to those who were there, I'll need help with most of your BC names, so I've numbered some of the shots to allow you to PM me or post here saying "I'm in pic no. 8 " or whatever, if you'd like to be mentioned Thanks again
14. *opens the thread, laughs at the jokes, scratches head at most album/song titles, opts against entering the fray with obscure Italian heavy metal albums, leaves*
15. LOL it's all in good humour! I'm now rummaging for a pic of Jack's DB to put on the event page, so I don't have to rely on dodgy pics downloaded off t'internet
16. LOL damn - rumbled! Couldn't find a good one of a DB scroll... I may replace the pic with one of a bridge.

20. I could pin the thread right now, but I have asked the mods if it's possible to thin the forest of already existing pins at the top of General Discussion first, to avoid overcrowding. This thread is more useful and relevant than several of the currently pinned threads.
21. Lively and friendly music pub by the river - come along if you're in the area
22. Topic moved to Bass Guitars as nothing to do with Gigs.
23. Second gig in 48 hours - last Saturday at the George Inn Walton, surrounded by a lot of dancing punters! https://flic.kr/s/aHsk2TF16L
