  1. Could do with one of those! Could you send it over to me if I paid postage - and possibly gave you a few quid as well?
  2. I'm really happy that more people are suddenly posting gigs in the list below the pins! And there are more visitors checking out what's going on. We are not in a hurry to change the newly applied format, but I would still like to be allowed to create directories and move threads without bothering any admin, so that we can tweak things and test them as we go along. The ultimate aim is to allow the information contained in the forum to reach as many people as possible in a way that irritates as few people as possible
  3. Dunno, get a Warwick and everything - including the nut - will be adjustable exactly the way you need it, and with absolutely minimal effort. Nothing to unscrew, take off, re-install, or foul up if you're a newbie... But I do know of several people who are so scared af anything technical that, if they play bass, wouldn't touch even a Warwick. They tend to be the people who will call you to their desk for help and moral support when there's an error message on their PC screen, whether they understand it or not.
  4. I've asked the admins to split the Gigs forum into two subforums, so we can test that solution too. Here's hoping it won't lead to the entire section becoming a graveyard again due to people not bothering to navigate.
  5. I'm not going to use my personal preferences, but someone will eventually decide one way or another, according to what seems best for the forum. That's a moderator's task. If by chance the final decision is not exactly to your liking, that will not be due to the mod throwing her weight around but to her just choosing what seems the best option. Edit: that was in reply to Pete Young.
  6. Ou7shined, yes, that makes sense too!
  7. If a few more bands create photo threads in the next few days, I can pin them to see what it's like when it's crowded at the top, and then ask the admins to create a subforum instead, and we'll test that other solution. As I said, I do think a subforum may be better than having 25 or more pins. IMO, however, it's not better than having up to say 10 pins. We're here to experiment
  8. There are subforums on this site that have 15 or 20 pins, and I have absolutely no problem reading them and finding my way around, on desktop and on a tablet. It's a matter of personal preference - I tend to find it far more tedious to have to jump in and out of subforums, especially on a tablet - in a word, scrolling has in my view the edge over navigating.
  9. All the threads can be left unpinned and jumbled in one single forum, if the result is not too chaotic. My impression is that it would be so, and that people would start posting in the wrong threads and possibly causing some information to fail to reach its target. Once again, not a huge problem, but we're simply discussing so that we can try to make things as convenient as possible for both posters and readers.
  10. Well, having to scroll down isn't the end of the world, it's an easily performed action both on a PC and on tablets and smartphones. Having a long list of pins and having to divide the forum into two subforums are two actions that reduce the immediacy for the reader, in two different ways. I guess our only option is to try and choose the format that annoys the lowest number of readers...
  11. I stopped looking at and unsubscribed from the How Was Your Gig thread long ago as I don't like endless threads, as that thread is not easily searchable, and all the bands are thrown into it together. If I wanted to look for a certain gig by a certain band, I would have to read the thread backwards without having any idea whether the gig has been posted there and at what point in the sequence. I doubt that thread is a good substitute for what I'm trying to do here. The subforum solution would undoubtedly be the best, except that it's less immediate than the pinning, and may split the potential readers of the Gigs forum into those who go directly to Band Media Stuff or whatever we'd call it, and those who click on Gig List instead and don't bother with the other subforum. Not an easy one, I know. The pinning solution would be best for keeping readers together IMO, but definitely not if there are like 20 pinned band threads before we can even begin to see the gig list.
  12. I've added this video to your thread under Gigs.
  13. Keeping an eye on this. When you have agreed on some more details I'll pin this thread - or a new one - and tweet it to our followers.
  14. I wonder if I got the caption of the photo completely wrong when I uploaded it to Flickr or, more likely, Google search took the title of the Basschat thread and used it as the name of the image. Either way, you're No 2 in the thumbnail list on the normal search page, and still No 1 in the full image search results
  15. Current gigs would be better, but the first post is OK as an introduction of the band (Clarky and Ou7shined have done more or less the same in their threads )
  16. Again, please add where and when if possible! Ta
