Many of us use this forum for announcing gigs all over the country, which is excellent as long as potential members of the audience subscribe to the forum or check it regularly. I think we could make even better use of it and possibly increase the number of visitors if we published some photos and footage from the gigs advertised here. My idea would be to have a thread reserved to each band, and for that band to create a new post within that thread after each gig, if/when they have video, audio or images to post. The title of the thread could include the BC name of the bassist, to make the band more recognisable, such as "All The Queen's Ravens (Clarky)" or something similar. Then each post within the thread could start with the name of the venue and the town where the gig in question took place, and show a few pics or a youtube link. They wouldn't need to be polished - phone camera stuff would be fine. Promo videos or photos or studio recordings would not be allowed in this context, since the emphasis is on live gigs. (Recorded material can be posted in the Recording forum.) I would also prefer not to see people post footage of a gig that took place 3 years ago, for instance - I'd like to see/hear stuff from the gigs advertised here. To sum up, we would still have individual threads along the lines of "XYZ at the Dog and Duck, Sat 10 Oct, Someplace, 9pm" as we have now, and those would be unchanged, but there would also be a thread titled "XYZ (name of BCer)" where any live photos or video/audio of that gig, and each subsequent gig, could be posted. Obviously, if your band prefers not to publish that kind of material and likes only studio recordings and professional videos to be offered to the public, you don't need to create a band thread at all - you can simply continue to advertise your gigs as before. What do you guys think of this idea?

I've got 3 Rockbasses and love them to bits - shape, sound, feel, you name it. I played the real deals when I visited the Warwick Custom Shop in NYC in April this year - and loved them to bits! Especially the Corvette Standard (fretted 5). Right. Waiting for someone to post saying that Warwicks are women's basses...

Absolutely fine. Done Re the cost, I don't think anyone should be out of pocket. If we see that not enough people are guaranteed to attend, we should cancel - I don't see why in such cases the project should go ahead regardless and the organisers have to shell out.

If it could be moved to General Discussion I could tweet it to our followers and it could turn into another of our BC charity projects. I'll see what the relevant mods think of the idea and report back.

Small pub function room? That should't be too difficult, provided we are allowed to make some noise. I can think of one in my area, off the top of my head. Only problem, mine is an expensive area of London and having that space for an entire day may not be as cost-effective as hiring a function room in a less upmarket area. On the plus side, I believe some local bands hire - or used to hire - it for rehearsals, which means noise should not be a problem. The above is just an example, of course. Hm, should we perhaps start a new thread to discuss the 2014 meetup, and then I can pin that one, as opposed to continuing on this old one?

The scale is the same as that of a DB, though, if that's what you are doubtful about.

Thank you I think Jack will play his Baby Bass at the gig with Dani Molino tomorrow. I have asked him to look at this thread when he has a minute.

Jack has been very busy today but I'll give him a prod to check out this thread and let you know about his own experience with the KB1 as soon as he has a spare moment, Sarah. From what I can see, he's very happy with tone and portability, especially now that he has replaced the Thomastik strings with softer ones (I keep forgetting names and details, so you'll have to ask him).

Paul the Drums, Happy Jack and KK Baby Bass in action again at a jam last night! As per Clarky's immortal remark, the upright bass "babe-magnet" factor was in evidence - the audience actually took notice of both the bass player and the instrument!

Familiar from another forum? Could be. Warwick, Talkbass, Lefty Bassists, Chophouse...?
