1. There is - only 4 strings and only right-handed for the moment. http://www.warwickbass.com/modules/produkte/produkt.php?submenuID=17072&katID=24504&cl=EN [the photo is not appearing on my screen at the mo, but it should be there]
 2. Yup, I simply tend to think of Catalan as less international than Castellano for welcomes and similar, but luckily all we need here is English, so that everybody's on the same page
 3.
Won't be a good start to the relay if there isn't
LOL, touché... I meant in Portsmouth and on here, I guess
 4. Tonight's the night! Anybody in Portsmouth going to James' gig?
 5.
¡Benvingut!
Er, that's Catalan... Welcome Diego! Plenty of Fender J freaks here, and you'll feel right in
 6. The forum is definitely growing fast in membership size, and sometimes attracting the wrong kind of attention. In turn, some of the established members lose their patience. The resulting aggro is not what we need. Thanks for your hard work, all of you admins and mods. PS sorry Colin i meant to mention you not Steve in the title. Big thanks to you both, though.
 7. LOL I'm not remotely as interesting as that, I'm afraid...
 8. And this is the A4 poster that will be placed on the bass when we take photos of it at the LBGS:
 9.
Flying V meets double bass ! ....I smell spandex !!
Great pic Nah, no spandex in the thrash metal look, it's blue or black denim and minimal accessories, in fact, as the photo shows
 10. LOL - that newsletter from Warwick got my attention too As electric uprights, Triumphs are cool IMO, such an unusual shape. I've never been able to play one though - I'm actually waiting for Warwick to produce an affodable lefty Rockbass Triumph sooner or later! - so I'm not sure whether such shape is as ergonomic to play as the traditional long-and-thin EUB shape.
 11. You bet I now really want to see it, touch it, and not play it, as always [bloody righty models!]
 12.
I spent many a happy hour with Andy when I visited Warwick last year. He's one of the most down to earth and likeable guys I've met. He does have a real 'Merikan drawl which I found really infectious. His bass playing spans over many records, from slapping stuff to his preferred style of chilled out grooves. I guess this showboating is ultimately what sells instruments; I mean I remember being blown away when I first came across playing like this when I was younger. Thankfully the passage of time has enlightened me to the finer points of bass playing but aroun this time I'm not influenced by adverts and videos of products either. Come on guys, relax. Slagging off another guy you have never met is really unbecoming. ped
I agree Chris, but I think most of us were complaining about the playing, not the bassist. I still think that, if that's what sells basses, then there must be something wrong with the market...
 13. Thanks Mick - I think I'm being helped to find one by the guys at Bassgear. If all else fails, I'll get one for the Sunday when I get to the show on the Saturday. I'll see you all there on both days, for sure
 14. It's a posted update from Danny Thompson's page on Facebook, so I guess you'll get it in your news feed too, as will anyone else who follows him. Such a shame it hasn't worked out.
 15. More bad news from Bree, as we feared.
Dear Lovers of Bass Thank you all for your support of Danny's Bass School Love In that was scheduled for this spring. We just wanted to let you know that unfortunately we won't be able to accommodate it at any point this year. Danny is extremely disappointed about this but is still very keen to make it happen one day. Shall that day come, you will all be the first to know about it! - Bree @ Paul Crockford Management
16. He's going to be at the LBGS, but luckily during one of my BC members meetups
 17.
OMG you should have PM'd me!!!
I didn't make it in time! Mark was just too fast in spotting it and replying to the post...
 18. STOP THIS! I'M GASSING FAR TOO MUCH FOR COMFORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 19.
But then often I hear that under different circumstances...
20.
The current mrs discreet inevitably says 'That's nice, dear' which lacks sincerity imho.
She's probably not a musician herself... and in any case, hearing that is better than hearing 'That was a bit sh*t, dear, wasn't it'
 21.
My girlfriend has sat in a couple of rehearsals last year. Her two comments to me in the car on the way back were "You are really bossy, aren't you?" and "You need to relax and smile more...don't be so miserable!". Both comments wound me up. I replied to her "I consider myself to be assertive, not bossy" and "I need to concentrate on what I am doing and listen out for the other musicians". Anyway, that sparked an argument. Things like that I can't be doing with. Okay, we have little disagreements in the band during rehearsals and gigs...I'm not denying it, but nothing that warrants 3 days of silence or maybe a projectile kitchen appliance aimed at my head when I get back home!
LOL, some of us band WAGs have perfected the art of attending rehearsals and being supportive, and only expressing opinions when asked. I've always been welcome, in fact invited to rehearsals with all the bands my ex partners played with (not just by the partrners but by the bands). So I agree, it takes a particular kind of girlfriend to be involved at that level and not get on everybody's nerves within 30 seconds. That doesn't mean she's not a good partner in general, just not in this case.
 22.
0/10 for spelling! Or, 10/10, depending on how you look at it.
Oh my, I had noticed that and hoped Mark wouldn't...
 23.
I think it's easy for many of us who have been here a while to take Basschat for granted. Basschat continually evolves, and changes, through it's members' contributions.
I wasn't here in the early days of this forum, but I agree with Nige - there are many more BC members now, from a larger geographical - and therefore, on occasion, cultural - area than before, and the community is evolving. There are also more trolls, because they appear to be a relatively fixed percentage of any online group of individuals. Overall, though, as almost everybody has pointed out, despite a few glitches, we're way ahead in terms of respect for each other than most other forums!
 24. I agree with BigRedX. I'm not talking from personal experience here, but I've been around bands for most of my life and seen it all. Two points of view to consider: a - the relationship within the couple. My opinion is, if they really get along as a couple, they should get along as musicians, provided they like more or less the same kind of stuff and their proficiency levels are more or less comparable. b - the couple's relationship with the rest of the band. If "a" above works fine, there shouldn't be many problems, unless either member of the couple is a dominant figure in the band and starts trying to impose their other half on the band, for instance giving the person more solos, or creating space for their instrument where the songs require none, etc. In most cases, since both point "a" and "b" are rather difficult to obtain, having couples in a band is tricky.
