1.
Dirty git
And this time little innocent me hadn't thought of the innuendo there...
2. I was checking earlier... found nothing so far, I'm afraid...
3. Loving this! Thanks for the laughs If I hadn't used up my spare string sets for the SE Bass Bash raffle, I'd continue this thread with a new offer.
4. LOL may not be your fault at all - Do you use the version of Google that's optimised for Norway? I ask becasue it seems to me that every localised version of Google has different search algorythms, so that, even if you enter the same English words that I do, what I see on my screen may well be different to what you see on yours. I noticed that when comparing notes (and searches) with my friends in Italy. I seem to find a lot more stuff than they do, despite entering the same keywords in English.
5. Good to know you think it's them, Bert - the above is just the result of some quasi-random googling, since my ex and I missed seeing Living Colour live at the time and I really couldn't remember who they were touring with. I'm sure you'll find plenty of videos on Youtube etc.
6. Could it be this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIVING-COLOUR-BAD-BRAINS-SWEETWATER-poster-1993-Seattle-/370294606044?nma=true&si=fgdFEDBQ3MCnG1dvs6fsvlij5eI%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
7. Needless to say, a few weeks before Quo's Hammersmith dates, we should start a new thread and plan some sort of Basschat meetup at the gig
8. I started listening to Quo in the late 70s - before then I was too young for rawk n roll I'm happy to have tickets for the Hammersmith gig and I intend to learn about and/or refresh on the band's back catalogue in time for that! \m/ \m/
9.
There's a joke in there about diligently trimming back a bush, but that would be far too smutty.
That's a relief you haven't mentioned the idea, then...
10. Yup, looks good - what's the accuracy, if stated anywhere? Edit: anyone tried this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0059EUIM2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=A201EI9BO9JGLA
11.
On another note ( pun very definitely intended ) if the low E struggles can't I just check that it is accurate at the fifth fret as an A or third as a G etc ??
Wouldn't the accuracy of that depend on how good your bass's intonation is? I'd love to know more about that too, although I would still much prefer to find a device that actually checks the tuning on the open strings, as that should be the safest thing to do. To make things worse, I play 5ers with flatwounds, which means I can forget using the Boss TU-80 for tuning the E and B in a hurry at least...
12. Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I'm in the market for a good clip-on as my normal Boss tuner/metronome is a bit of a pain on the E and B strings. I'd love some up to date info on anything decent in the £15-20 max bracket, if any of you has had any luck. Thank you in advance!
13. Forgot to mention that comments can be added to this thread as well: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/192946-jerry-scheff/
14. LOL Paul, you're probably thinking of Shelley, not me, as being good with organising. I'm actually a bit crap at this... Having said that, it's just a matter of compiling two lists of attendees, but I'd suggest we do that a little closer to the date, when more of us have bought tickets and made sure we know how to get there. In the meantime, my impression is that, up until a few days ago, the Bass Show had been promoted on the back of the Saturday performances and masterclasses, while now they are finally releasing the names of the Sunday guests. They probably want us to impulse-buy that second ticket at the last moment, and pay the full price I got a very advance ticket for the Saturday, as I wouldn't miss David Ellefson for anything in the world. I still don't know whether I'll choose to go on the Sunday as well.
15. Will do, Simon. Glad you agree with me that the book is well written and entertaining, despite being bass-lite If you have the time and the inclination to write a review, I'd suggest you post it on the original thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/188351-way-down-disappointment-of-the-year/, so that the community (and Jerry himself) can continue the debate in one place.
16. It was a pleasure to meet you, Simon, and you lovely wife and family, even for a few minutes. We were in a very busy place, in one of London's tourist hotspots, and I myself didn't help by getting lost and then looking in the wrong place. But the important thing is you've got the book. Let us know what you think about it, now that we also have Jerry Scheff's personal message addressing some of the points Jack and I made in our reviews.
17. Good stuff! Still prefer David Ellefson, though...
18.
I'll be there too! Once again I'm hanging out with the awesome Hartke UK team!
Dan, if all else fails, we'll all gather at the Hartke stand, then!
19. True, but we must remember that the cafe can get very crowded too - or at least it did this year with the queues for masterclasses forming at least half an hour before the start of each of them. That may make it more difficult for us to find one another, unless we decide to meet next to the savoury snacks or the coffee machine or similar - not too practical, I think
20. We absolutely need to organise a meetup! Near a certain stand, or in any case in one specific place, so that we have a reference point to go to when we aren't at a masterclass or gig, throughout the weekend.
21.
I was thinking long and hard about this. Trouble is they have had fantastic replacements . Not sure..
I agree, as I'm a big fan of Jason's, but I do believe that the band would have taken a different direction if Cliff had lived. Not necessarily a more successful direction, just different, because Cliff was one of the main songwriters, while Jason was never allowed to contribute significantly. The band may not have gone on to writing the various Loads, Reloads, St Angers and other sellouts, or they might have written something even worse! We will never know, of course.
22. Welcome, Barry! We have a number of active members and a lot of lurkers from the US (as well as continental Europe), and they are all precious to the mix of our community. Dive in, the water's lovely!
23. Sorry can't help, but I'm bumping this question and hoping someone comes to your rescue.
