On another note ( pun very definitely intended ) if the low E struggles can't I just check that it is accurate at the fifth fret as an A or third as a G etc ??
Wouldn't the accuracy of that depend on how good your bass's intonation is? I'd love to know more about that too, although I would still much prefer to find a device that actually checks the tuning on the open strings, as that should be the safest thing to do. To make things worse, I play 5ers with flatwounds, which means I can forget using the Boss TU-80 for tuning the E and B in a hurry at least...

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I'm in the market for a good clip-on as my normal Boss tuner/metronome is a bit of a pain on the E and B strings. I'd love some up to date info on anything decent in the £15-20 max bracket, if any of you has had any luck. Thank you in advance!

London Bass Guitar Show 2013 - 2 and 3/03/2013
Silvia Bluejay replied to Silvia Bluejay's topic in Events
LOL Paul, you're probably thinking of Shelley, not me, as being good with organising. I'm actually a bit crap at this... Having said that, it's just a matter of compiling two lists of attendees, but I'd suggest we do that a little closer to the date, when more of us have bought tickets and made sure we know how to get there. In the meantime, my impression is that, up until a few days ago, the Bass Show had been promoted on the back of the Saturday performances and masterclasses, while now they are finally releasing the names of the Sunday guests. They probably want us to impulse-buy that second ticket at the last moment, and pay the full price I got a very advance ticket for the Saturday, as I wouldn't miss David Ellefson for anything in the world. I still don't know whether I'll choose to go on the Sunday as well. -
PASS IT ON: WAY DOWN, the autobiography of Jerry Scheff

Will do, Simon. Glad you agree with me that the book is well written and entertaining, despite being bass-lite If you have the time and the inclination to write a review, I'd suggest you post it on the original thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/188351-way-down-disappointment-of-the-year/, so that the community (and Jerry himself) can continue the debate in one place. -
PASS IT ON: WAY DOWN, the autobiography of Jerry Scheff

It was a pleasure to meet you, Simon, and you lovely wife and family, even for a few minutes. We were in a very busy place, in one of London's tourist hotspots, and I myself didn't help by getting lost and then looking in the wrong place. But the important thing is you've got the book. Let us know what you think about it, now that we also have Jerry Scheff's personal message addressing some of the points Jack and I made in our reviews. -
I'll be there too! Once again I'm hanging out with the awesome Hartke UK team!
Dan, if all else fails, we'll all gather at the Hartke stand, then! -

True, but we must remember that the cafe can get very crowded too - or at least it did this year with the queues for masterclasses forming at least half an hour before the start of each of them. That may make it more difficult for us to find one another, unless we decide to meet next to the savoury snacks or the coffee machine or similar - not too practical, I think -

We absolutely need to organise a meetup! Near a certain stand, or in any case in one specific place, so that we have a reference point to go to when we aren't at a masterclass or gig, throughout the weekend. -
I was thinking long and hard about this. Trouble is they have had fantastic replacements . Not sure..
I agree, as I'm a big fan of Jason's, but I do believe that the band would have taken a different direction if Cliff had lived. Not necessarily a more successful direction, just different, because Cliff was one of the main songwriters, while Jason was never allowed to contribute significantly. The band may not have gone on to writing the various Loads, Reloads, St Angers and other sellouts, or they might have written something even worse! We will never know, of course.

Welcome, Barry! We have a number of active members and a lot of lurkers from the US (as well as continental Europe), and they are all precious to the mix of our community. Dive in, the water's lovely!

Sorry can't help, but I'm bumping this question and hoping someone comes to your rescue.
and freddie mercury! kinda skipped that bit, but that wasn't my band that was my mates. Yours would be class but if you were channeling geezer you would have to have AVH as drummer for the groove. Amended for living musicians mine would be Drums- Terry Bozzio Bass- John Paul Jones Gtrs- Jimmy Page, Richie Blackmore Vocals-David Lee Roth
Yay! Could live with that too To be fair to Dave Lombardo, he can do other kinds of metal that aren't thrash - if and when he wants to. He's not necessarily always stuck in the ultra-fast Slayer lane, although that clearly is his favourite mode by far. \m/ \m/

Lord Sausage, last time I checked Jaco was dead... Vocals - Rob Halford Rhythm guitar - James Hetfield Lead guitar - Tipton and/or Downing Bass - Me if I could be channelling Geezer Butler... Drums - either Alex Van Halen or Dave Lombardo Keyboards - What's a keyboard...?

Oh my, this must be the fastest reply time to a request of info I've ever had. In reply to an email I sent a few minutes ago, Bree has emailed me the PDFs you guys got too, and has confirmed that they can provide me with a left-handed DB (free of charge) for the duration of the event. Wow. I guess I better start saving right now - Christmas is officially cancelled as of this moment or - more precisely - it's been put back to the end of March

I read and tweeted this several hours ago and still I've got massive GAS. Oh, and of course, Chris, next time you visit Warwick, you may need your BC social network admin by your side, you know that, don't you?

I would also love to buy stickers, and I think they were included in the original list of new merch for sale when the shop was going to re-open (which it did in September IIRC), but I seem to recall Ped saying that the samples he got weren't of satisfactory quality for the price, or something along those lines...? Can anyone help?

A CD with the winner would be fine, but I would be happier to be able to also refer back to the other tracks taking part in the comp, as there can be only one winner but all of the tracks are of a very high standard, and it would be a shame, in my view, for us listeners to forget about them.
