1. HAHA Jack! I may take up your offer! I could pinch it on the back with hair clips (as they do on shop windows dummies), take a picture of myself from the front and then return it
2. Yes, let's hope that the weather is fine and that this may be the start of a well-attended series of meetups. It's good to know each other in person, and not just because we might sell or buy something from each other in the future. We are a great community with the love of music at its heart.
3. Sigh. No size 6 and even the smallest size is too big for me to take in properly... Any other merch I could - er - wear? (Possibly over something else which happens to be my size.)
4. I'll be there with my trusty compact Canon, and I'm looking forward to meeting you, Dave!
5. As promised, I'm copying the info in a new thread for clarity. BC London Meetup Saturday 26 May, from 12 pm Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden, grassy area to the left of the entrance. I hope to see as many of you as possible! If the meetup is successful, I would be happy to organise something similar regularly in the future, for instance once a month, so that those who have to miss this one will be able to attend the next.
6. This thread is an excellent idea! I'm still tempted to go see Judas Priest at the Hammersmith Apollo on May 26th (yes, the day of the London BC Meetup!). I haven't bought a ticket because it's around £40, and I'd be going alone, and I've seen the band several times, the last relatively recently when they still had KK on guitar. BUT - if any other metalheads here are equally tempted, I could be swayed...
7.
This one Bluejay http://basschat.co.u...75#entry1594775
Ooo thanks! Will keep that in mind if I'm free, and in that case I may see if other west Londoners would like to join me.
8. Very happy to go to gigs when you guys are playing, especially in West London. Please do list them in a dedicated thread, that's an excellent idea Half Moon Putney is handy for me, what's the name of the band? (Once again, 04/05 is the day before my birthday etc. but I may be around).
9. My intention would be to make the London BC meetup a regular occurrence, if this one is successful, so hopefully you - and anyone else who can't make it this time - will be able to come along to the next one.
10. Fantastic! Looks like quite a few from the forum should manage to come along!
11. @ Dave! We have lot of foxes in W4 too. One regular visitor to the rubbish bins was named Osama Bin Liner by the locals. @ Truckstop, we'll decide exactly where to meet up and I'll be carrying a BC sign - won't give a damn if I look funny, we'll need it! @ Seashell - YAY!!
12. Only, Marcus will have been there three weeks earler... By the way, in case anyone thought I've lived in London for 20 years and never been around Tower Bridge - I've never been in the More London complex, but I do know and love the area around it.
13.
Can anybody make May 4th?? http://ticketing.sou...us-miller-62456
I'd be soo tempted... but for the price and the fact that the following day is my birthday and I may decide to go away for the weekend.
14. LOL @ Mark and Billy! OK then, here goes Saturday 26 May, from 12 pm IF the weather is dodgy, More London Riverside IF the weather is fine for a picnic, Regent's Park (we'll decide exactly where in the park, in due course). The above implies us checking the weather forecast and reporting back on to this forum a couple of days before. If it sounds acceptable, I'll start a new, dedicated thread.
15.
I'll tell you where is really nice for a picnic.. Greenwich. The park is lovely, and if the sun is on our side, we could go up by the Observatory and have a view over the whole of the smoke. If the weather is not on our side there are pubs, a great little noodle house, or even a venture to the also lovely Blackheath village
Yes, I've been there and it's indeed lovely but... same objection as that re. Hammersmith - unfair to those Londoners who come from the west or north-west (in this case). It takes me more than an hour at the best of times to get there from where I live, and usually even longer to get back home (dunno why!).
16. OK quick recap of suggestions so far. Possible dates: Sat 26/Sun 27 May Sun 10 June Sat 16/Sun 17 June Places: Hammersmith Riverside South Bank More London Riverside - Tower Bridge The Montague Pike on the Charing Cross Road/St James's Park Picnic in a reasonably central green space (including the above) if weather allows I'd be perfectly happy with any of the above, but let's say that I suggest either Sat 26 or Sun 27 May at More London Riverside, as I've actually never been there - what's shown on the website looks nice. Meeting up around 12 or 1pm? I imagine the place would also be suitable for a picnic if we decided to try our luck? Let me know what you all think!
17. Yup - as a non-admin member, you click on your name at the top right hand corner of the screen and choose My Settings. Thank you all for your help!
18. LOL to those in Brighton or Southampton it's the north Get on your bike and come join us!
19.
If it's going to be afternoon, how about A BC'ers picnic. A four-pack of Spesh and a bag of pork-scratchings! Primrose Hill side of Regents Park, and nice pubs near-by if there's any rain?
Would absolutely love this! But it'd have to be subject to confirmation 24 hours earlier, due to the vagaries of The British Weather If it decides to rain the whole day we may well leave the pork scratchings at home and go directly to the pub.
20. Sounds good - In that case we could consider going to St James's Park* before or after the pub, if the weather is nice. * Edited to hide my inability to remember the correct names of places (and often people!).
21. Good! I was hoping you'd read this thread and be able to join us, Seashell. I'll wait a little longer and then collect everybody's suggestions, and we'll take it from there.
22. Ha, good. So let's also keep Saturday in the picture then. Keep 'em coming guys. Grateful for your opinions.
23. I was thinking of late morning/lunchtime/afternoon rather than night, though, especially if the weather is nice. Would that make things slightly better?
24.
Tru, dat. What about London Bridge, down by the river - easy to get to... More London Riverside is nice. HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge, green spaces, City Hall, architecture, fountains, good pubs/bars and restaurants, etc etc?
Yes, I like them all. As for the dates, I did think that Saturdays would probably be when people are gigging, so it will be a Sunday. If no clear winners emerge, I will start a poll for the dates and, if necessary, one for the place. (That's if I learn how to do it!) Please keep suggestions coming, for the moment. Thank you all! I'm looking forward to this, and if we are successful we can make it a regular occurrence.
25. I guess we need to start deciding the date first. My suggestions, as mentioned above, are Sat 26th or Sun 27th May Sat 9th or Sun 10th June Sat 16th or Sun 17th June. At the moment I'm fine with all of them. Give us a shout if you have a preference or you can't make one, and we'll see if there's one that makes most of us happy.
