1. LOOOL Or you could share a space with other exhibitors. And those of us who are definitely going to the show could pitch in with a few quid to make it happen.
2. LOL, definitely up for wearing the stickers SOMEWHERE on my body, but possibly not my forehead!
3. BassBus, beside representing TC Electronic, Jon Thorne said something about having his upright specially made for him, but I missed who by, I'm afraid. Did anyone catch that bit of info?
4. It was great meeting you, Shell, and roaming around the show chatting to other members of this forum and, in my case, of the Warwick forum i'm also a member of. My avatar helped quite a few of you to recognise me and say hi. Next year we must definitely find a way for all of us to recognise one other more easily and also to meet up in the evening, when we don't have to rush to masterclasses o gigs! And... I want a bag with "B E A D G, yes - have a problem with that?"
5. I don't think there would ever be a dedicated London Double Bass Show, TBH, so it would have been clever to have more DBs and/or EUBs at the show.
6.
I don't know if what an illusion or reorganisation of the layout, but it seemed smaller to me this year, I certainly got round it very quickly. I was disappointed with the singular lack of DBs to try/buy, i.e. none. The one on the Strings & Things stand was there solely promoting the strings fitted to it. I can't understand why JHS didn't have one as they certainly distribute a range of DBs. Whether I go next year will depend on the live stage and masterclass line up.
Agree on all counts. It did feel smaller than last year - in a sense, that may have been a good thing as there were more gigs and masterclasses to attend. If I had gone with the intention to buy something, I wouldn't have had the time to study all the gear at all the stands in addition to catching the masterclasses, and I would then have bought a ticket for the Sunday too. Equally disappointed by the scarcity of DBs. There was one NS Design 5-string upright I drooled all over, and a yellow double bass, and that was it. No DB-related gear. Anyway, I will go again next year, no matter what.
7. LOL loving this thread. Yorkshire or Canterbury, this upright bassgirl is unable to attend, I'm afraid, but I'm sending you all good vibes! Please take pics!
8. OK posting mine here too: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150644056799207.413204.528729206&type=1&l=d2b1575e92
9. Some more photos from the show,in addition to those published by you guys. Will also add a link to your album on FB. 10. The first one I was going to was at 10:30, and I arrived around 10 minutes before that.
11.
I can't answer this question. There isn't a category for "I'm just in it for the chicks!"
But quality chicks don't fall for that. They only find real talent sexy So you probably have to make do with slappers (of the non-musical variety)
12. I voted "I practice a lot and only play or record at home for my own pleasure". I guess "but I'm still not as good as I'd like to be" is missing at the end of that statement There are currently two other BC souls in my club
13. Us metalheads are friends with the Devil, we might put in a good word for you...
14. Hi Spencer, and welcome. You're too young by a long shot to die even the happiest man on Earth. Keep up the good work!
15. Hello, hungry one and welcome to Basschat! Plenty of lefties here, and some of us even play lefty instruments! Get stuck in...
16. Billyapple, i missed you by a whisker a couple of times this afternoon! Freddy, I remember the website mentioning that masterclass but it disappeared soon after, and doesn't appear in the show literature at all. Are we sure we didn't read last year's lineup, which they left on the website for far too long? I can't remember now.
17. Back home! I met Shelley (seashell) early on in the day, then spent most of the time flitting from one masterclass or gig to another. We were unable to identify most of you guys who were there, though, and hoped you would recognise us. Rumple, you should have said hi! And seashell was with me while I was talking to Jason of Rotosound.
18. Get well soon, Lozz - don't risk your health for the show if you don't feel OK. I do hope a good night's sleep will rid you of your ailments and allow you to join us.
19. If any drummers are reading, is my cheque in the post??
20. I don't find dr****rs offensive - after all, we have to aim to become one with them, musically speaking, don't we? And some dr****rs are - or at least used to be at the beginning - the driving force behind their bands; take for instance Lars Ulrich of Metallica.
