1. Welcome David! Love the idea of "g****r" as a swearword and will now torment my g****rist friends with it
2. Weird. Not had that problem on my HB, despite its undeniable cheapness... I would probably sand the neck very lightly with the least abrasive sandpaper you can find. But hopefully one of the experts on here will be able to suggest a better solution.
3. Hi, blitz, and welcome! You mention GAS... you've come to the right place. Just have a look around - but lock your credit cards in a secure place first
4. Unless you live around 20 minutes by bus from the venue and could, in theory, even walk home from there (I've done that before, in fact)... I'm among the lucky ones in this case. On the other hand, I'm in trouble when music events like this are held at Excel, on the opposite side of town - it takes me 2 hours to get there and 2 more to get home, and that's without leaving London...
5. Parking in the whole of London is either near-impossible or daylight robbery, I'm afraid. Hope someone here has some good advice for you (I don't drive so I can't offer any help, unfortunately).
6. Yup, we'll be on the mobile and find each other - and the guys - before lunchtime!
7. Excellent post, Henry - you beat me to it. Olympia is quite near Hammersmith and Earl's Court stations, and a bus from either can do the trick if the tube fails to deliver.
8. LOL, but he's the main topic of only around a quarter of this thread, despite it having his name in the title!
9. Well, I guess a bluejay can still go "cheep cheep" with no particular reason, then ...
10. Cheep Cheep! Looking forward to wandering randomly and bumping into you all!
11. You didn't mislead us - your original link took to the Amazon entry for the book and the price was stated clearly. I mean, it's not like it's very expensive...
12. Heh. Aunt Wikipedia says:
The name of the song comes from a street located high in the Hollywood Hills overlooking Sunset Boulevard where George Harrison rented a house at 1567 Blue Jay Way during August 1967.
Nothing to do with birds or double entendres
13. We don't need publish the venue for the after-show meetup on here - the guys at the stands will know where it is and tell us if we ask nicely
14. If the notation is set as a graphic, as opposed to treated like text, you might not be able to enlarge it without losing crispness.
15.
Well I'm sure if you missed the experience there would be a queue of people willing to swap MSN details to give you the full experience
Bless. No thanks - speaking for myself, I was delighted with the nice, grown-up welcome I received back in November.
16. Is music really like any other mundane job? I don't think it can be compared. What do you think?
17.
What about the virgin part?
I didn't intend to enquire about that regarding you guys
18.
Moore responds 'Hey man. I don't like to talk about my music' to whcih the mutual friend says 'Oi. Stop being a c*** and talk to the guy. He's been paying your wages for decades'. So he did. Which was nice.....
He shouldn't have needed to be reminded, but it was nice of him anyway.
19.
You didn't see the Gwizmon fiasco during which Gwiz got pissed off and didn't post anything since and the offending member got himself banned. It's funny how we treat successful people in this country. Love and rooting for the underdog quickly turns to petty hatred when they hit the big time. We dehumanise and objectify them and subject them to quantification. Mark King's better than Flea, Flea is a c*nt, etc. You would not see ShergoldSnickers is better than thisnameistaken, tnit is sh*t on here would you? Until they both get multiple platinum ablums and massive tours. Then see how long it takes
The attitude of people sitting behind their PC screen and further protected by a screen name is different from their behaviour in person. I have happened to meet in real life members of other forums I profoundly disliked "on screen" and got along with them famously. And I've more often than not seen famous musicians walking along the street minding their own business - Maiden spring to mind as they are local - being respectfully allowed to keep minding such business without being mobbed for autographs or asked stupid questions while queueing at the till in Waitrose.
20. OK, I see what you guys meant in the first place when you described the effect of a girl joining...
21.
This thread is actually more embarrasing than when a girl joins and everyone reverts to being 14 year old virgins. He's just a bloke. If he's here to join in, have a laugh, and tell lies about women, then all is cool. Doesn't have to be more complicated than that. Now stop acting like a bunch of.... GUITARISTS!
LOOOOL! Didn't notice that when I joined. Might be because I'm no longer 14 myself?
22. Welcome J! Impressive gear you've got there, and also a lot of musical experience, despite being so young. Good to see you're open-minded about the kinds of music you like to play - that's the right attitude. I wish I had started on bass at your age or even earlier! Stay with us, this is a nice place
