  1. @gapiroThanks for that. I have an Adobe account which I got when I bought a copy of Photoshop Elements, I'll have a look at that and see how much Premiere may end up costing us! Other suggestions welcome! πŸ‘
  2. Yup, D'Addario XLs are easy to recognise, but the flatwounds on the other one are a mystery to us - brass-coloured ball-ends, low tension, NOT Labella (the Labella LTs have dark red silks, the normal ones black), not Thomastiks (they have bright red silks)... so we're a bit stumped.
  3. Metallica - The Cure Judas Priest - Reckless; A Touch Of Evil; Painkiller Megadeth - Killing Is My Business, And Business Is Good; Countdown To Extinction; The System Has Failed And let's not forget Covid disco - Stayin' Alive and Night Fever... πŸ˜‰
  4. I don't think 'cupping a feel' - as he once described it - is carcinogenic... Mind you, getting slapped in the face hurts though. Gene famously doesn't do and has never done drugs.
  5. We will miss you, Eddie. Am I the only fan who had been expecting this for years now, though? Gutted as I am, I'm not surprised because he'd been fighting this for at least two decades. I never bought his line of 'I drank, smoked and did drugs - a lot - for quite a long time in my life, but this cancer's all the fault of my metal plectrum. Honestly.' Yeah, right. Thankfully, his legacy lives on.There are guitarists who play a lot of notes very fast, with no sense of melody, rhythm or serving the song, and say they were inspired by Eddie; I hope they take this moment as an opportunity to go back and listen to his guitar playing on VH songs, and try to understand how it actually works. RIP EVH.
  6. I know the book has been mentioned here on Basschat in the past. I have finally read it (twice!), and written a review, in case anyone's interested. STEINBERGER by Jim Reilly NOTE: I'm sharing this here and on some of my social media because I love the book. I have no vested interest in it. I met Jim and Ned at NAMM, had a chat, took a photo of them together, and gave the photo to Jim, who published in the book. I did not request any payment, and received a copy as a thank you gesture.
  7. https://www.thomann.de/gb/rockboard_lt_xl_power_bank.htm Or indeed, https://www.thomann.de/gb/rockboard_lt_xl_power_bank_rg.htm
  8. Incidentally, and I do know I'm on the losing side for this, the correct pronunciation of his (Sicilian) surname has the stress on the "i" not on the "e", and the "ia" in Prestia is not a diphtong - it's meant to be pronounced as two sounds, as if it was spelled Γ―a. No idea how his current US family pronounce their surname, but I bet that it doesn't sound similar to "Preston".
  9. I've now edited the title of this thread! Even more clarity. I'll change the date on Facebook too. πŸ‘
  10. Perhaps have a read of this thread on the subject... and welcome to Basschat.
  11. All punters were socially distanced, and the volume was low enough to talk as opposed to shouting.
  12. Even when drunk, punters who care about their local will do their best to avoid getting it into trouble. I'm not sure why the Govt chooses to blame pubs for a spread that mostly appears to come from people's interaction in other places. Punters having fun in a Covid-safe way:
  13. Incidentally, that's from 2 weeks ago and it'd be high time for them to go fully public, seeing the show's supposed to be in two days...
  14. There's some info on the old LBGS website, which is now an automatic (temporary?) redirect to Music Radar. I must say, I've lost most of my interest.
  15. I replaced all of my Warwick straplocks with normal pins long ago. Stupid system.
  16. That makes perfect sense for an originals band who plays music venues, not a band that plays almost exclusively pubs and non-dedicated music venues. Edit: in reply to BigRedX
  17. ... weather permitting. Fingers, and everything else, crossed! πŸ™
  18. I'm in awe of those who can both play and dance at the same time, without effing up either activity. However, to me, listening to a good bassline comes before watching stage antics. If all that was interesting in a band was the dancing, I'd walk out after a couple of numbers.
  19. I was thinking the same. Anyone got a link to that infamous thread, or Scott's explanation?
  20. Last year I bought the DT240 Pro (slightly cheaper than yours), used them a couple of times, then chucked them in a drawer and bought a set of PJBs for more or less the same price IIRC. I encountered exactly the same problems in the DT240 Pros that you describe on the DT770, so it's clearly a setup/specs choice by the manufacturer, not a dodgy item. Avoid both models like the plague, I'd say...
  21. TBH, I have been known to yell at the bass player to turn himself down, as well, or be taken off the PA*... * Low frequencies don't need the PA's help as badly as higher frequencies, anyway, especially at a distance.
  22. The key, for both of our bands, is to keep the backline volume just high enough for the band to hear themselves, and then have PA backup (even in 'acoustic' setups - you always need the PA for vocals anyway). That way, I can control exactly what the audience hears. I have been known to yell at guitarists until they lowered their combos' volume, or else. πŸ˜‰
