  1. Judging by this reasonably recent blog entry, D'Addario strings are made in NY.
  2. Yes, I am, and D'Addario made me a special set of 5 left-handed strings for that Corvette. Umm, hang on... 😂
  3. LOL I'm tempted to ask Mark Gollihur, of the omonymous bass store. He seems to know everything about strings! On a less jokey note, let us know what arrives in the post - take pics! Our community is now really curious!
  4. Thing is, I don't think Warwick would be allowed to use exactly the same colours as D'Addarios for exactly the same strings. I'm reasonably sure D'Addario must own some sort of patent to their combination of colours and strings, and they're unlikely to have licensed it to Warwick... *scratches head*
  5. Yes, your FoH person - NOT the band - will be asked by the audience for their favourite songs, and they won't understand why said FoH person points them to the band leader to ask him/her the question instead. The Pro app is better - doesn't crash, allows customisation of the tablet's display, and moves the Mute button from almost constantly under your fingertips at the bottom of each channel strip to a safer place higher up.
  6. I did throw a tantrum when I was asked to take photos of this! Sigh.
  7. I'm sad to hear about the dearth of lefty models, as there were just as many lefties as righties at Rickenbacker's booth at NAMM. Yes, I know - we're talking mostly fakers rather than originals here, and what is at a show is not necessarily what is actually sent to/requested by the shops. But don't lose faith.
  8. While I'm sure there's nothing wrong with Warwick strings in general, in this case a bit of the tapered section on the low B is actually part of the speaking length of the string, which can't be good for the sound or the stability of the string. In other words, the saddle is actually too big for the diameter of the string at the point where it touches it. I would not accept even a new string if it did the same as this one, and would insist they sent me one with a shorter tapered section.
  9. Excellent move. Do keep us posted, obviously.
  10. Actually your theory makes sense. Next question - what to do about it? Can you send a non-threatening ( ) enquiry to Warwick to see if they can shed any light? What would bother me is that the low B is dodgy, both in sound and because it doesn't fit the bass properly. I'm sure that it would sound better if the whole speaking length was of the correct gauge, as opposed to the taper reaching past the saddle. I would definitely contact Warwick before doing anything else.
  11. I doubt it came straight from Warwick like that. It looks more like something done by the distributor. Why would Warwick keep D'Addario strings in their factories, let alone put them on their new basses, when they have their own strings? Even just for the sake of publicity and good PR?
  12. The low B is also the only one that's tapered, as well as not matching the D'Addario colour scheme. It does look like it's a mixed set.
  13. LOL! It's a 4-string anyway, so we wouldn't be interested. 😎😇
  14. He didn't mention any dates while we were at NAMM, so we'll be keeping an eye on announcements.
  15. Perhaps we should actually try the new Warwick-made lines before slating them? As for Rockbasses, they're pretty damn impressive, even the cheapest ones. If the MetroExpress goes the same way as Rockbasses, Roger has nothing to worry about.
  16. You don't have to be VAT registered; you will have to confirm that you aren't on every transaction you work on, but that's it. IIRC, you simply sign up with your email address and a password, give them a lot of personal information, including your bank details for them to make transfers to. From then on, a few days before the gig, you give your name and email address or phone number to the pub manager to start the ball rolling, so they can create a purchase order they will eventually send you. You acknowledge that purchase order, then sign it off and send it over once you've played the gig. The pub will then sign it off and request head office to pay you. In theory this takes 3-4 working days if the initial purchase order arrives before the gig. Do keep in mind that Invapay takes its cut from the transaction, so always add £5 to your normal fee whenever you're paid through this system if you don't want to end up shortchanged, albeit by just a few pounds.
  17. Ugh. That kind of misalignment tends to be one of the first things I notice in basses. I'm sure it makes no difference to the sound, but I'm happier when I can't see the pickup poles under the cover, so I don't know about it! 😉
  18. You've got more Corvette 5s than I do! (I've got a Fortress 5 and 3 Corvette 5s.) @Happy Jack is not a fan of Corvettes, or Warwicks. We wouldn't play each other's basses even if we were both right-handed! 🙄 😄
  19. Over my dead body, Clarky! 😉 (And the Dynamites would be a bit disappointed to see that bass disappear - it's the one Jack plays with the band at every gig when he's not on DB.) 😎
  20. Except if they take our 'secession' seriously, and retaliate by not allowing Brits to settle in Europe without the same amount of hassle this country's going to give EU citizens trying to settle here! At this stage I'm not sure whether I should be glad or worried that have a EU, non-UK passport.
  21. LOL! Shep/Panther and Si are two of our super-gurus on all things effects (as well as lot of other stuff). As Rich said, Shep seems to have gone very quiet in the last few years.
  22. Guys, Sibob (Simon Poulton) and Shep are two different people. Shep and Pantherairsoft are the same person.
  23. I think he's been mentioned because he may be in a band that plays something similar to your new outfit. Hope he sees we've tagged him
