That's the point. I really loved your Wingbass when I saw it at the SE bash. If I end up buying one (they do lefties, yay!) it'll be for noodling and playing differently from the usual, not for holiday practice.

Happy Jack and I had a chat about whether he preferred a Wingbass or a Snapdragon as a present. Nice as Wingbasses are, they don't seem to be designed to do the job of a normal bass - they are, so to speak, a standalone dusty end. They are obviously way more precious, higher quality and more expensive than the Snapdragon, but they don't cover the same ground. We decided that, for someone who wants to keep their fretting hand exercised on the basslines they play with their band (often mostly on the first 7/10 frets), the Wingbass is less useful than a longer scale bass - unless the person in question is a solo bass player, of course.
-
Alternatively, a relatively cheap travel bass may be the answer. Having seen @MacDaddy's folding bass and guitar, I bought @Happy Jack one of these and he seems to like it too.

Yes you're absolutely right, and I do wish they would get the lineup(s) sorted by the time the tix go on sale. The usual reasons quoted for the delay are that a. they want to keep the suspense going (does that mean they are mostly targeting local visitors as opposed to people like you?) and b. the artists especially are bloody difficult to pin down to attendance (perhaps the fee isn't enormous, and they get a lot of cancellations when the artist receives a better offer?) As I said, frustration shared, even if I live in London. I can choose to go to the LBGS with a press pass and work, or buy my own ticket and go as a visitor and have fun, so I'm in the same boat as you guys.
-
While I do understand - and share - your frustration at not knowing exactly who's going to exhibit or perform, I can't think of any LBGS (or previous music show) I've ever been that I regretted buying a ticket for. Not a single one. Especially for less than £20 for the whole weekend. There are always one or more shops, luthiers, masterclasses or performances that make the day/weekend worth while.

Advice please on Steinberger EUBs

Have a look at this thread for some general opinions. I can't answer your question re active v. passive, as mine is passive only. Hopefully someone else can help. -
Andertons masterclass, what to expect?
Silvia Bluejay replied to uk_lefty's topic in General Discussion
If the OP plays lefty, he may end up not finding a bass he can use unless he brings his own. Don't ask me how I know... -
See you all there!

Now following this thread, and will add the event to all calendars in due course. -
Interesting. However, they clearly can't afford a copyeditor or a proofreader. HAHAHAHA!!!!! Sorry.

I've logged out and logged in again on the Galaxy, and still no weird stuff happening, all looks normal. 🤔
-
Hmm, interesting. @ped, @charic?

I've just visited Basschat from my Galaxy S5 and that doesn't happen to me, nor has it happened in the past. (I'm always logged in on my phone, so I didn't have to enter my details.) Even if that weird redirect is only on one site, it looks to me like something that has to do with your phone or browser rather than BC. Anyone else?

Thank you all! Just back from gig no. 3, and rather knackered! Normal service to be resumed asap.

Thanks Mick! 3-gig weekend with three of @Happy Jack's bands, plus lots of admin and PR. Busy, but fun. Hope you are having a great weekend yourself!

Oh dear, if we do that I'll have nightmares for the next couple of nights! 😄 -
Wireless PA controlled remotely by tablet
Silvia Bluejay replied to Happy Jack's topic in Accessories and Misc
I guess you could set up so you see all three on one single page (although a crowded one) on the paid-for app. We haven't attempted any customisation yet - something to do soon. The fun is still to come... -
Wireless PA controlled remotely by tablet
Silvia Bluejay replied to Happy Jack's topic in Accessories and Misc
It's certainly a marked improvement on having to shout at @Happy Jack to ask him to turn things up or down on the desk behind him, while he's on stage trying to play bass... -
After a bit of research I finally bought a set of Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones. They are not one of the models recommended in this thread, but they are more affordable than those, and so far seem to be exactly what I need. I can hear the bass clearly when I'm transcribing a song, and they respond well to changes in the EQ when I fiddle with the settings in the MAXXAudio Pro program on the PC. (Yes, I know, that program isn't everybody's cuppa, but it comes installed on the PC and works well for my limited needs.) The pros of the headset are: smaller than the PJBs I used to have, so more manageable for a petite person like me; they have two inputs for the cable, one on each earpad, so if one goes noisy or fails, you have a second option; they are tighter than bigger models, so they don't fall off my little head when I stand up to play bass... 😉 So far I've found only one con: the cable they come with is too short, despite having a curly section that you can stretch if necessary. I have ordered a 3m cable with standard 3.5mm to 2.5mm male inputs, and hopefully that will solve the issue.

Wireless PA controlled remotely by tablet
Silvia Bluejay replied to Happy Jack's topic in Accessories and Misc
Quick update: we're doing well with the Behringer XR18, but we decided to upgrade the app to the Pro version after noticing a couple of glitches. In our case, some settings weren't being updated on the tablet after being changed on the computer (despite the wireless connection being fine), and channels occasionally muted or unmuted themselves without me touching the relevant button. The pro app is not free, but is, we understand, very customisable - we need to explore that, because things would be a lot easier if I could have all the sliders and controls used by each band on one single page - and save each band's setup separately - as opposed to having to switch between two or even three pages for each band. To Be Continued... -

Except, what would you do with just the cymbals? You'd need to get stands for them, and then GAS for the rest of the kit. Just sayin'... -

I think it stops FB/Twitter etc. following you when you click on a link in a post/tweet/etc., as well as blocking all clickable FB/Twitter etc. images or links on pages if they try to obtain access to your own social account info. Or something... 😉
