  1. It's certainly a marked improvement on having to shout at @Happy Jack to ask him to turn things up or down on the desk behind him, while he's on stage trying to play bass...
  2. After a bit of research I finally bought a set of Beyerdynamic DT 240 Pro headphones. They are not one of the models recommended in this thread, but they are more affordable than those, and so far seem to be exactly what I need. I can hear the bass clearly when I'm transcribing a song, and they respond well to changes in the EQ when I fiddle with the settings in the MAXXAudio Pro program on the PC. (Yes, I know, that program isn't everybody's cuppa, but it comes installed on the PC and works well for my limited needs.) The pros of the headset are: smaller than the PJBs I used to have, so more manageable for a petite person like me; they have two inputs for the cable, one on each earpad, so if one goes noisy or fails, you have a second option; they are tighter than bigger models, so they don't fall off my little head when I stand up to play bass... 😉 So far I've found only one con: the cable they come with is too short, despite having a curly section that you can stretch if necessary. I have ordered a 3m cable with standard 3.5mm to 2.5mm male inputs, and hopefully that will solve the issue.
  3. Quick update: we're doing well with the Behringer XR18, but we decided to upgrade the app to the Pro version after noticing a couple of glitches. In our case, some settings weren't being updated on the tablet after being changed on the computer (despite the wireless connection being fine), and channels occasionally muted or unmuted themselves without me touching the relevant button. The pro app is not free, but is, we understand, very customisable - we need to explore that, because things would be a lot easier if I could have all the sliders and controls used by each band on one single page - and save each band's setup separately - as opposed to having to switch between two or even three pages for each band. To Be Continued...
  4. Oh, I see, you're gassing on behalf of others. 'It's all right, honest, it's not for me, it's for a friend!' 😉😎
  5. Except, what would you do with just the cymbals? You'd need to get stands for them, and then GAS for the rest of the kit. Just sayin'...
  6. Replies ended up in the spam folder?
  7. I think it stops FB/Twitter etc. following you when you click on a link in a post/tweet/etc., as well as blocking all clickable FB/Twitter etc. images or links on pages if they try to obtain access to your own social account info. Or something... 😉
  8. I'll also tweet it from Basschat tomorrow, for max exposure.
  9. This is one of the pages I see when I click on the sprocket icon (Settings) in Adblock. I think the filter in question is the Social Blocking one.
  10. No, up to date version of FF on up to date version of Win 10. The disappearance was probably due to having the Social Blocking filter activated, among others.
  11. If that barrage of popup ads comes back to this site, I'll do without the Share icon and go back to Adblock! 😛
  12. It was Adblock's fault. Who knew? 😮
  13. Hmmm... weird. I used to have the share icon before the recent update. I'm on Firefox on Win 10 as usual. I'll try Edge, which I hate and never use anyway. I'll also try disabling Adblock on FF and see if either works.
  14. And this. The options at the bottom don't list Share.
  15. I'm not sure I see the Share icon!
  16. Why is it no longer possible to tick the box at the top right hand corner of a post and obtain a link to that individual post, as opposed to copying the url of the whole thread? That was very useful.
  17. Will do! Thanks.
  18. Oh dear! Thanks for the warning - I've crossed them off the list.
  19. I'm reviving this thread to say that I'm deeply disappointed with my PJB headphones, the ones I recommended in my previous post. I've had them for 3 years at most, used them lightly, but they're now ready for the bin. When I started hearing crackling and losing first one channel, then both, at first intermittently, then most of the time, I thought I had a problem with the (detachable) cable, so got a new one. Unfortunately, the cable is not at fault - it's the contacts in the socket where it plugs into the left pad that seem to have given up the ghost. I'm pretty sure it's not simply a matter of cleaning it with spray - although I will try that too. Before I shell out for one of the models recommended above, any other, up to date suggestions? Since I mostly use headphones with my headphone amp, when I'm playing bass along Best Practice on my PC, would going wireless be a better option? It'd certainly free me from having to sit or stand close to the Bass Buddy; however, would the PC create interference? It already seems to introduce some low-level hum in the playback. Big thanks in advance for any pointers.
  20. According to my records, my avatar was created in Photoshop on 19/01/2017 and, IIRC, uploaded to BC soon after.
  21. So my hard disk is safer than other people's hard disks... 😉😎
  22. Well my avatar was uploaded to BC from my hard disk, as it's the result of my mighty fine Photoshop skills in creating an image of a bluejay playing a lefty Warwick Corvette. I never saw the short period of down time, as I only logged on to BC hours later. So I don't think I was logged in when the great slaughter happened. 🤔
