  1. Why is it no longer possible to tick the box at the top right hand corner of a post and obtain a link to that individual post, as opposed to copying the url of the whole thread? That was very useful.
  2. Oh dear! Thanks for the warning - I've crossed them off the list.
  3. I'm reviving this thread to say that I'm deeply disappointed with my PJB headphones, the ones I recommended in my previous post. I've had them for 3 years at most, used them lightly, but they're now ready for the bin. When I started hearing crackling and losing first one channel, then both, at first intermittently, then most of the time, I thought I had a problem with the (detachable) cable, so got a new one. Unfortunately, the cable is not at fault - it's the contacts in the socket where it plugs into the left pad that seem to have given up the ghost. I'm pretty sure it's not simply a matter of cleaning it with spray - although I will try that too. Before I shell out for one of the models recommended above, any other, up to date suggestions? Since I mostly use headphones with my headphone amp, when I'm playing bass along Best Practice on my PC, would going wireless be a better option? It'd certainly free me from having to sit or stand close to the Bass Buddy; however, would the PC create interference? It already seems to introduce some low-level hum in the playback. Big thanks in advance for any pointers.
  4. According to my records, my avatar was created in Photoshop on 19/01/2017 and, IIRC, uploaded to BC soon after.
  5. So my hard disk is safer than other people's hard disks... 😉😎
  6. Well my avatar was uploaded to BC from my hard disk, as it's the result of my mighty fine Photoshop skills in creating an image of a bluejay playing a lefty Warwick Corvette. I never saw the short period of down time, as I only logged on to BC hours later. So I don't think I was logged in when the great slaughter happened. 🤔
  7. Hang on, am I the only BCer who hasn't lost their avatar? 😮 I do have a copy on mine on disk, but I haven't needed to use it since I uploaded the avatar on here for the first time.
  8. Dunno about the cookies, but regarding the signing in anonymously, it's my fault it's been deleted! 😮 I mentioned to the admins that it wasn't working properly, in that it would only hide the name of the person from the big list of logged in users on the home page, but still show their name at the bottom of any thread they were reading or contributing to. So the whole function was scrapped! I would have much preferred for it to be fixed, but apparently not an easy job.
  9. I'm astonished that nobody has so far mentioned shoes. Usually in new bass v. wife situations, shoes and handbags get mentioned almost immediately. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for Basschat's collective and their long-suffering other halves? Incidentally, no, I'm not a great buyer of shoes. Warwicks, yes. Photo and recording equipment, yes. D'Addario goodies, yes.
  10. So the LBGS is slowly waking up from its slumber, the dates have finally been corrected to September both on their website and on Facebook, and the entry prices have been confirmed (in a reply to my post on their FB page) as the same as last year: £17.50 Early Bird, £20 in advance, £25 on the door. It's a small step forward. LBGS website LBGS Facebook Page
  11. @Happy Jack's band Damo And The Dynamites are trying to establish a monthly Rock 'n' Roll/Rockabilly night at this renowned music pub, with the help of one of the managers. If any of you are in the area and at a loose end next Tuesday, come and say hi.
  12. That's the Wagner dilemma once again. As a music listener, as opposed to performer in public, I separate the music from the character of the artist and play/listen to whatever I like.
  13. That's our Colin! (Or Barney...)
  14. Oh it must be 5-6 years old. We are planning to do our testing with it, and then, if we learn how to use an external router with the system properly, and decide to go that way permanently, we'll buy a new router with the necessary bells and whistles.
  15. Thank you for all your posts, and especially this last one, Lisa. I didn't know your story. Now my thoughts are with you as well. Colin introduced himself as Colin when we newby Basschatters met him, and those of us on FB also knew him by his real name. What matters is that we're talking about the same lovely guy we all lost.
  16. I've just dug out my old Plusnet Technicolor router I removed from my flat in Chiswick. We'll bring it with us to the 'tutorial'.
  17. Interesting. One of the things I intend to sort out asap is adding security (WEP or similar), something that's mentioned in the manual, but in a rather obscure, unhelpful way. In general, if a person with a mobile phone is looking for a connection, noticing that it's secured should be a deterrent.
