  1. They are on Basschat! They were also at Winter NAMM, but I managed to miss them altogether...
  2. I've never been a fan of Anthrax either, preferring the other three of the Big Four, but I'm a big fan of Frank's, especially since I saw him at the LBGS 2014. Friendly, down-to-earth and encouraging. I found his masterclass highly inspiring, and he's got the chops too! Filming was prohibited at the LBGS, so I've got no footage of my own, and the only vid I've found - not sure if sneaky or authorised! - is this:
  3. LOL! You missed all the controversy years ago, with the media insisting the country should ditch it (I have to agree, it's absolute crap) and replace it with the Va' Pensiero aria (which would be WAAY better, although possibly a bit challenging for ordinary, tone-deaf people to sing properly...?). 😮 Not sure why it all went quiet, though. They don't need to sing one at this particular WC, anyway.
  4. Ha, so it's not just me having to re-tune my Warwicks at least twice a day, and tweak the truss rod every few days. (And that's for home noodling, they never leave the house). I imagine the combination of heat and humidity in the air is never sitting steady, and our woods feel the constant changes.
  5. I've finally managed to listen to the whole of it. Well done all involved, and thank you for working so hard on it. Thumbs firmly up: good audio quality, good presenting, love the news and what's hot on the forum bits, the Q&A section with its humour as well as useful info, liked the interesting talk about bass necks. Although I knew most of the general info, I wasn't familiar with the functioning of the double truss rod, so I learned something I didn't know. Only gripe, bit too long - as in, the talk is fine, but it IMO could/should have been divided into two or three installments to publish in two or three episodes. That obviously would require tweaking the script so it doesn't get chopped at random intervals. The same goes for Stephen Chown's interview, IMO. *Puts her music journo hat on* I like Stephen a lot, and enjoyed working alongside him, David and Scott at NAMM. I like how open and straightforward he is, and his natural, relaxed interview style; I wouldn't want to see that interview shortened, as would happen if, say, I had to make it into a BGM article (it would have to be edited into a crippingly small number of words!). However, once again, the interview could be split into two or three sections that follow the chat's progression, and published in more than one episode. I think it would be an incentive for the listener to look forward to hearing more from the man in the next episode. *Takes music journo hat off, and bows* So, really, the only thing I found daunting was the 2-hour-plus length. As others have said, no need for you guys to travel up and down the country every week, just gather the same amount of material each time, and use it for more than one episode. IMO, of course.
  6. That will take a while to happen I reckon, better if neither of us holds their breath in the meantime... 😉
  7. Sometimes being a lefty - and therefore usually unable to walk into a shop and find a bass to buy on the spot and bring home - helps save you from GAS. Not at Wunjos, though, oh no, they usually have at least one really nice lefty model, sitting there whispering 'Take me now. I'm yours.' in your ear, until you either make a dash for the door or produce your credit card... 😛
  8. Anything by Metallica after the Load/Reload not-exactly-rubbish-but-heading-that-way albums. And my God, I've tried. 😔
  9. Link to the podcast: Soundcloud - Basschat podcast #1 Link to feedback thread here.
  10. START OF THE OFFICIAL FEEDBACK THREAD! You can read the planning of the episode above, but now it's time to give your feedback about it. GO!!
  11. We know who to blame/credit next time we meet him!
  12. By the way, I've just remembered where the Aluminium DB GAS started - the London Bass Guitar Show 2016. The ones below were not for sale - just there as exhibits. I think they belong to the previous publisher of Bass Guitar Magazine.
  13. Mine are as described on D'Addario's website: I've taken that quote from here.
  14. I have D'Addario tapewounds on my Bass Collection 4-string, and they're great too. A tiny bit too stiff for my little, Chromes-addicted fingers, but on a 4 they don't give me any trouble. What colour are yours? Mine are black and look really cool!
  15. On a PC browser, if you keep 'CTRL' pressed down and then press '+' repeatedly, the font size of the text on the entire page will increase. Once the main area of this site is large enough, the right-hand column will be moved to the bottom, after all the forums and subsections, and you can ignore it more easily. That's similar to the mobile phone look. That obviously assumes you don't mind reading really large type on your screen!
  16. The bass player is brilliant: Angeline Saris. I hope I'll have the opportunity to interview her one day!
  17. /Supportive wife mode ON/ 1. Camera work for No. 1 2. Camera work for No. 2 3. N/A 4. N/A 5. N/A 6. Would much rather wash my hair than attend one of these, even in the audience - or indeed *as* the audience - but I do, occasionally. 7. Short hair is a pleasure to wash. /supportive wife mode OFF/ 😉
  18. Hmm, what are these shoes and handbags whereof you speak? Surely you mean how many new Warwick Corvettes or nice electric uprights? 😉
  19. What? Isn't that the dream of anybody who's ever been a child, albeit in the distant past? 😮😛🙃 These are the main links for David Gartland's work: Ali Kat website Ali Kat on Facebook
  20. I've now moved this thread to Gigs, where it may reach an additional section of the audience. Good luck with the project.
  21. I second the inclusion of double bass content where possible.
  22. Looking forward to listening to the pilot! If ,as opposed to this long initial episode, 45 minutes is then deemed to be the best length, would it not be possible to record a full 90 mins and then split it in two? Perhaps publishing the two halves with a couple of weeks' hiatus rather than a whole month? Indeed, my initial idea of a podcast was that it would be weekly and only last for 20 to 30 minutes, but I'm probably a bit out of date with current trends.
  23. Wunjos Basses in Denmark Street too.
  24. And here is Happy Jack with that bass!
