  1. We asked John if it was OK to publish this, and he said yes. He simply doesn't want full reviews being published in magazines etc. for a week or two, so we'll leave it at this for now. Jack was genuinely impressed with the bass - he wasn't trying to be nice to John...
  2. Very nice stuff at that stand! They are also showcasing the new electric upright, vaguely inspired by the NS Design upright models. Andertons have been touring the entire show as a team of three, interviewing, filming and amiably chatting to exhibitors. Great guys.
  3. At NAMM. Small British contingent in attendance, lots of photos already taken, and the show hasn't even opened yet!

Be sure to check out the Dingwall booth (#3044), and give the new lefty NG-2 a try! :)

@LeftyJ I did try the bass, but I'm afraid I soon realised that it's not a good choice for me. My tiny right hand felt really uncomfortable on the lowest frets - which are the ones I prefer to use, especially on a 5er. The 37 inch scale on the low B was not a problem, and it sounded majestic, but the fanned frets on the other strings were just too much hard work. The string spacing on that particular bass was wider than I'm used to, and the position of the pickup, slanted and much closer to the bridge than to the neck, felt weird when I placed my left thumb on it. I'll write a slightly more detailed review in my forthcoming blog, and will keep an eye on any other lefty models Sheldon may start producing, but for the moment I'll go back to my Warwicks. Pity :(

  4. May I remind posters that sale/trade offers are only allowed by PM.
  5. Fender flats are the horridest flats I've ever tried. Got them off my Corvette after two days. Stiffer than a doornail. TIs and Chromes are my favourite, much more compliant; I'd like to try the new low tension Labellas if I manage to find a set.
  6. Go to your Profile > Account Settings > Signature, enable View Signatures, add your details in the field below it, Save. Job done.
  7. And I'd avoid the rude ones, as well, if possible.
  8. Please, not an effing cat! It'd look so naff...
  9. Now it's not giving me an error message any more, but it goes directly to the page for writing a sticky, as opposed to the page showing My Received Notes like the desktop. Not a problem for me, but what if someone wants to read their own received stickies?
  10. Although short scale instruments appear less often, have a look at the second hand, lefty section of the Marketplace Lefties for Sale or have a chat with Affiliate @Chownybass who specialises in short scale. There was one of his basses for sale in the lefty section above, but it's gone.
  11. If the developer isn't helpful, I think you can safely remove the feature for non-admins. After all, normal private messages will do the same job.
  12. Forgot to add, if the screen's layout looks a bit odd in the photos, it's not BC's fault - I'm using the left-handed option for the phone OS.
  13. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android version 6.0.1, and I get an error message when I try to see my sticky notes on the mobile phone. Granted, I have no sticky notes waiting for me, but the same is true of the desktop interface, and that doesn't give me an error message, just an empty list. Here are photos I took of my mobile screen a few minutes ago. The circled sticky icon on the fist screen is the one I press to get the error message.
  14. I've posted it on Facebook as well, as it's got a wider reach.
  15. That in BC orange would be my favourite! What, are we American now?
  16. If you click on your name in the top right-hand corner, you'll see a menu with Sticky Notes as the second item.
  17. I think they're still finalising the schedule, but for the moment we have these: Main Stage Masterclasses Other Things Happening
  18. Ralph, welcome to the upright GAS club. I'd say start with a EUB (I agree with Pete's suggestion) while you have a small child, then realise you've fallen head over heels in love with the long scale, and get a DB - space at home permitting. Until a few months ago we had a righty upright and a righty DB, plus my two lefty uprights. We only got rid of the righty EUB because Jack fell in love with the Takamine TB10 (which is a fretless bass guitar!) and uses it for the EUB gigs. The DB is staying put!
  19. Yes, definitely. When I was talking to him, 18 months ago, I banged on (and whined!) about the non-existence of lefty Dingwalls, and he said that he wanted to produce some, but that would imply getting entirely new tools for most tasks, so he would start production once the company's finances allowed it. I take it as a good sign, then, that he's done it. I'm seriously thinking of killing my GAS forever by buying one!
  20. He didn't mention that when I interviewed him, though.
  21. Confirmed on FB today. They are going to showcase a couple at NAMM. I shall report back.
